How do you replace starter on a Honda Element?
First of all, make sure that the problem is actually with the starter. If your warning lights and radio work, it's not the battery. Does your car run a bit and then die? That could be the alternator. If you have a friend with you have them listen to see if they hear the clicking of the starter as you try to turn the engine over. This is the starter solenoid. If there is no clicking, change the $10.00 solenoid. If all of this is not the issue you may have a bad starter.
1. Find the battery.
2. Disconnect the battery.
3. Follow the large wire down the back of the battery to the starter.
4. Disconnect the positive wire from the starter.
5. Disconnect the negative wire from the starter.
6. You may want to mark the wires to keep them straight.
7. Un-bolt the starter. KEEP A MENTAL NOTE OF THE ORIENTATION OF THE STARTER.
8. Place the new starter in place.
9. Lightly bolt it just enough to keep it from falling out.
10. Re-connect the wires from the battery.
11. Don't forget to ground the starter.
12. Bolt it back in place.

This answer is totally wrong. Before you can remove the starter you must remove about 28 other things first. Like the intake manifold and a nest of wires tubing and cables and such. The solenoid is internal in the starter and cannot be fixed without rebuilding the starter. It's not a $10 add on part. A new Honda starter is about $389.
*Very true. You must first remove the intake manifold which is an involved process. But, it is not hard at all if you just look for instructions online. Also, a new starter at your local parts store will run you between $120 and $170. Do not try to get one through your local Honda dealer. That is where you will pay close to $400.

According to Consumer Reports, the Honda Element gets a much better than average rating for reliability. That doesn't explain everything.
The Honda Element scored a 55, which is nowhere near the best-in-class RAV4, ranking in the 80s for score. Because of so-so fuel economy, 4 seats, awkward access to the rear, and more, it scores too low to be recommended. The Honda element was discontinued in 2010 for Canada and was discontinued in 2011 in America. Honda is currently working on a successor, to hit the road in early 2013, perhaps?

Are you refering to the "Check Engine yellow light" or the little square box near the bottom of the display panel center section? When scheduled maintenance is required the normal green color in the square box will change color to yellow. It is to remind you that the routine maintenance according to the owners manual is due. To change it back to the normal green color "insert you ignition key into the slot below the box and press in" this will reset to the normal position. With the car parked, hood up, engine off, and you're listening, have someone activate the windshield washer. Listen to see if you hear the whirring/humming of the pump.
If you do, check the hoses and the sprayheads to see that they're hooked up correctly or are plugged with junk.
If you don't hear the pump - check the fuse first - if the fuse is okay it's pretty likely that the pump has failed. Good luck.

You shouldn't actually NEED to change the fluid, unless you got something in it. If you did, find a hose coming from the power steering pump, take it off, let all the fluid drain into a container, reconnect the hose, install two bottles of fresh Honda fluid (no other will do), start the car and turn the steering wheel full lock to full lock at least ten times. Then shut the engine off, let it sit for a minute and check the fluid level.

This is typically one of two things if your car is running just fine. Either the gas cap is loose or damaged, or more likely an oxygen sensor is bad. On all cars made after 1996, there will be a connector under your dash that looks like a large serial port from a computer. It is usually to the right of the steering wheel and just above your right knee. Go to your nearest auto parts store and usually you can borrow, either with or without a deposit, their engine computer tester. Follow the instructions carefully on the tester to obtain the code that is causing the light to be on. Give this code to the parts guy and ask what you need to change. He or she can usually get it for you. If they don't know, just type in Honda Element check engine code XXX in Yahoo search and you should have the answer for that particular code. On my 05 there is a removable panel beneath the steering column that exposes the fuse box you will see two TYCO relays and it is the one on the left. I am trying to figure out how to remove it without doing damage.
