How do you change an oil pan gasket in a Maxima?
The oil pan gasket on the 92-96 Max was a silicone compound, part number 999MP-A7007 it is important you use that. It is not a Harry Homeowner job. It involves lifting and removing engine supports and mounts. If you try, buy the manual. no-one , even a master tech can tell you on the web for that job. Sorry.
:
Pretty much spot on, if you arent of at least Intermediate or above DIY'er, then you shouldn't tackle this project on your own.
Its not as simple as loosening a few bolts.

It is located behind the black covers on the front of the engine. You will have to remove the fan and loosen up the timing belt to replace it.
I just had my 96 Passport in the shop for the same problem (all the power windows quit working). They replaced the power window relay. Labor $98.50, Part $30.00 go figure. I think the relay is located behind the drivers kick panel. Good luck.

Where do you check the transmission fluid on a 1999 Honda Passport?
This information is listed in your owner's manual. Don't have one, get one. Dealer, salvage yard, e-bay, Google Search. Sorry, but the manual won't help you, there is no manual transmission dipstick. The pan underneath has a drain plug and two side plugs. Evidently you have to pump the oil in one of the side holes, until oil just trickles out the second side hole. A royal pain in the butt. Oh and don't forget the car has to be level. I'm a do-it-yourselfer, but I think I'm going to have the shop do this one. I've got a 2001, very disappointed when I found this out! Had I know this, I would not have bought this SUV. The ques ion did not mention if it were a manual or A/T. This has been the norm for manual transmissions for over 80 years. The reason there is nothing mentioned in the owner's manual, is that changing manual transmission fluid is not a maintenance item. Normally this would be checked when the clutch is replaced. Unless you have a leak, there is no need to change or check it. There are some manuals with a dipstick, but that is not the norm.

Where is the fuel pressure regulator on a 2000 Honda Passport 3.2 engine?
The 2000 3.2 L should be a Multi-ort fuel injection system. If so, the fuel pressure regulator is attached to the end of the Fuel Rail. You can see this in a diagram the Chilton total car care repair manuel (about $14.00). If your not getting fuel pressure, check the fuel pump and the in line fuel filter as well.

Why can't I start my 2000 Honda Passport after I run out of gas and refill?
This just happened to me a couple of weeks ago... You probably blew out your gas pump, unfortunately our gas pumps use gas to lubricate the pump... run out of gas and the pump can blow... I priced pumps from $287 to $400... However, you can get them eBay for $100 shipping included! Pretty easy to put in after you drop the tank, if you have a buddy who knows a couple things about cars they may be willing to help you!
Where is the transmission dip stick located on a 1997 Honda Passport?
There isn't one. It is a drain and fill transmission. There is a fill plug on the bottom of the transmission pan. I just went through this with my 97 passport. It requires a special temperature tool to check the level. I just took it to the dealership.
It could be manythings:
clogged radiator- coolant flow or air thourgh it
low coolant level - straight anti freeze in the summer
thermostat stuck closed
fan clutch went bad
electric fan inop. faulty motor, blow fuse, relay or a short
have seen a clogged catalytic converter cause it due to an exhaust restriction
an engine that is run lean would also run hot
having the a/c on in the summer, stuck in traffic will cause it to run higher than normal, but not dangerously
If your towing a heavy load can cause a vehicle to run hot
Many things can go wrong with a vehicle now a days that dont affect the way it runs, you should take this as a sign that things are starting to show problems and you need to get it checked by computer before things get worse. The engine code can be pulled at any auto parts store but the transmission code may need to be accessed at the dealer. A blinking light usually indicates a problem that needs attention right away so dont wait.
