Honda Prelude SI

I have been told recently that the problem I am having with my lude's speedometer not working and the s3 tranny indicator light flashing is due to a non functioning speed sensor. I have put 177,000 miles on this car. It had 111,000 miles when I purchased it from the dealer (cleeaan machine). This is the first time I have had this problem. The last owner left all of the service records in the vehicle and there was no mention of replacing the speed sensor. I have been checking forums for the past two months and got little information about testing or, a proper diagnoses of the problem. Honda dealership here wants $85 to diagnose. .

You need a turn signal switch, but spray WD 40 up through handle first & work back & forth, sometime's that cleans the contacts !

according to the handbook total including filter 4.7 lires or 5 US quarts, or for change taking into account whats in the engine and filter already 3.8 litres or 4 US quarts .hope this helps.

you need to first remove the dust cover on the transaxle then remove the taran saxle itself. after this take apart the transmission housing and just switch them out.

its in the fuse box labeled signal starter on the cover and its inside car by the pedals not under the hood.

I really don't know about the dual carb set up but it generally starts in the valve cover and ends at the pcv valve which is screwed in the intake manifold. The pcv valve is under the carbs. If you look up from the bottom of the car there is a black box right next to the oil filter. There is a hose from the oil pan to the bottom of this black box. On the top of the box is another hose that connects from the black box to the engine. If you take off the top hose to the black box the pcv valve is mounted in the top of the box.

It depends on if the tail light works or not. What would happen is, the Driving Tester would check your vehicle, registration, insurance, state inspection, and etc. I'm pretty sure that if you have a broken tail light, i.e. the tail light won't light up when you brake, you wouldn't be able to even take the test. If the tail light is cracked, but still works, I don't think it be a problem.

The '89 Prelude Si has a Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC). The valve lash for the DOHC is INTAKE: 0.08 TO 0.12 mm EXHAUST: 0.16 TO 0.22mm.

yes it will, but you have to buy alot of parts, including transmission, mounts, linkage,ecu, and of course the engine. you can drop a b16 tranny and it will give you better performance short shifts !!!

well in a 95 eclipse the ecu computer is in the engine bay to the right of the airfilter near the fuse box the transmission controller is under the center console.

Yes, the 1988 and 1989 Honda Prelude has a VSS that is a cable sending unit that connects to the gauge cluster in the dash.

Check your shift solenoids that are mounted on top of the transmission. Also check your trans fluid. If you haven't had the trans filter changed, get it changed also. NOTE: On almost all year model Accords, the transmission must be taken down and apart to change the trans filter. So if you don't know how to do this, than dont try it.

There could be a lot of causes to this light being on.......... Have a technician hook it up to an ABS computer.

it is above the oil tank. When under the car, looking at the oil drain valve it is above that.

I have a 1990 Prelude, it's a 2.1L DOHC. Firing order is right to left when standing in front of the engine comparment. So, plug 1 is on the right (drives side) and you count in order to the left, with far left being plug 4.
