Their are 2 main bolts that hold on a thermostat housing for an 1987 jeep cheorkee pioneer!!

The height of the 2001 Jeep Cherokee is 5 ft. 3.8 in. (63.8 in.).

Wait for the power to be turned off, or for a trained electrical technician to cut the power to the wires. As long as you are not grounded, the electric current will not flow through you.

Of course, if the electric discharge starts a fire, you may not have this option. You would have to leave the car without touching its metal exterior or any live wires, which is an extremely hazardous undertaking...........wait for someone from the power company to come to help

Double sided tape Sheet metal screws Pop-Rivets Yes, I've had the same problem with my 2000 Sport. I just got them to go tight against the body last week. Locate the 5 or 6 bolts just inside the fenderwell. Spray them with penetrating oil! Wait a few minutes then use a deep, metric socket to unscrew nuts. Some bolts might have flare keepers. Pull them off first. Watch out, their sharp. After backing off nuts a little, fit fender in between brackets and body of jeep aligning tabs on fender to tabs on brackets. Tighten nuts and slip those flare keepers back on-if any.

The throttle position sensor is more than likely, misaligned and needs to be put back into spec. Otherwise check to see if something is binding up your throttle cable some where between the gas peal, and the throttle body (located in the engine bay.)

I have a 94 grand Cherokee and they have a timing CHAIN not a belt so I'd say you're gettin screwed! the water pumps are not very sturdy in these cars so that I could understand. I've never done my chain and have 298000km Good luck>

Most of the relays are located in the fuse box under the hood, on the passanger side. there are a couple relays that are with the fuses in the passanger side fuse pannel inside the kick pannel.

It is on the same circuit as the brake lights, but if they are not working, and the bulbs are good your switch needs cleaning or adjustment.

Attempt this first since the switch costs nearly $300 bucks.

On the passengers side of the trans just behind the bell housing there is a fan shaped switch, loosen the 12mm bolt ( smaller of the two, and rotate the switch while a friend checks the lights. this problem is usually accompanied by an occasional inability to start the vehicle, but can be cured by jiggling the shifter.

While adjusting the switch make sure that the vehicle will start in park as well, remember to block the wheels while testing the back up lights, engine off, key in run but not start, shifter in reverse, move switch until lights come on.

Once you find this spot, hold it in place and have your helper check to make sure it will start. This may take several tries to get both working correctly.

If you have no luck the switch may be dirty, this happens a lot. Hold the post to the bottom large bolt still while you loosen the nut, then remove it, then remove the 12mm adjusting bolt on top, remove the wire connector and pull the switch away, remove the bolts on the switch and separate the halves, use electrical contact cleaner and maybe some q-tips to clean all the copper connections completely apply di-electric grease and reassemble, refit to the trans and readjust so all functions work, this switch controls back up and start safety.

Caution! always hold that bottom bolt while tightening the large nut, this is connected to the gear adjuster and you could damage the internals if it isn't secured while you do it.

The crank sensor is on the rear of the motor on the drivers side.It bolts to the bellhousing withe 2 bolts. It looks it has 2 wings on the sides where the bolts go through.It has a 2 wire plug going to it. Its easier to reach from the under side

Its possible that it is the TPS sensor (throttle position sensor)
easy to replace yourself and available at your local parts store.

It could also be a transmission issue, change the fluid and filter, but start with the TPS sensor its a common problem and cheaper solution

On the passengers side of the trans about even with the front of the door fan shaped switch held on by two bolts.

I suggest taking it apart and cleaning it before you think about replacing.

The switch is nearly $300

To remove, flatten out the retaining washer side under nut, remove large nut, remove smaller ( 14mm ) bolt on the adjustment side. Connector for the wires is top left of engine at the firewall, black connector with about 8 wires, you will need to snip 3 or so zip ties to get it free.

cleaning is easy, 6 screws in back, pull apart, clean out all that old grease, pay special attention to the two contacts on the sweeper arm, they should move in and out easily as they have springs underneath and are the man contacts, apply new di-electric grease and reassemble.

reassemble and align before tightening, easiest way is to put trans selector in R and move switch until reverse lights come on.

The bell housing is not the same on the two but if you are doing a change over from a automatic to a stick and have the trans and bell housing the will will fit where a automatic came out.

Follow the top radiator hose back to the engine. There is where the t-stat housing is. Remove the hose, remove the housing, remove the old t-stat, clean gasket surfaces install the t-stat into the housing with the spring side sticking out toward the engine, use spray adhesive to attach the gasket(DO NOT USE RTV), reinstall everything and be careful to evenly tighten the housing bolts until they are snug(DO NOT RAUNCH HARD ON THE BOLTS). Fill the cooling system with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water, and burp the system.

If they are collapsing after the engine is off, the rad cap is bad. The cap needs to allow pressure back in as the engine cools off.

The only ways to tow a 2wd is remove the drive shaft or put on a trailer.

heater hoses might have been disconected

The cap should be colored blue and most likely you will find it under the hood passenger side near the evaporator. The evaporator should be silver in color and shaped like a tall beer can with 2 metal hoses coming out of it.

Under dash. Read your owner's manual.

Its for your valves.

on the side of the trans there should be a size 17mm allan hole witch u will need a allan wrench to get off, (usually u need a socket type). getting the fluid into the trans is a whole different ball game because of the way the allan is positioned.

Under the battery, on the battery tray.

the warranty is about 2-5 years for a good warranty, 80,000 miles, but a recall was posted on 96 and 97 Cherokees and Wranglers that will get it replaced for free if it starts rattiling, call your dealer with the recall e-22 and your last 8 of your vin to see if it has already been performed, this will allow for the reprogramming of the pcm and replacement of the cat if it is rattilng or wasted. On the up side you get a new cat and the pcm reprogrammed to detect issues with emissions, on the down side, you will now get codes for emission problems.
