What are the benefits of computers in education?

Many many ways! Here are just some ways I have used them in the past - I am a high school Mathematics teacher.

1) Learning aide for students who have motor skills issues and cannot write clearly.

2) Combine with interactive websites, flash and java applets to reinforce or even teach a concept.

3) As a research and presentation tool both for students and teachers. Students can create a traditional presentation, construct a blog, research using social media and many other things - teacher can too!

4) Record keeping and manipulation of worksheets, results, exams, analysis of results.

5) Construct worksheets, exams and program/curriculum documents.

6) Communication tool - network with other teachers or schools.

7) Some schools I have been in have interactive whiteboards - useful for exploring a concept and having students manipulate diagrams in order to understand concept or dispel misconceptions.

8) Some schools also have a video conferencing suite - allows geographically isolated students to access resources and people they wouldn't normally be able to.

9) View online videos. As a teacher this is a great way to start a discussion, or to get a concept across. Kids today don't want to listen to a 'boring' teacher tell them about something - they wan't to see it and interact with it. I also find that viewing online videos is a great way to source new/different teaching ideas.

I know there are tons more - but can't think of them at the moment!

Windows 2000 boot process?

As with other Windows Operating Systems, when you turn on your PC, it goes through an elaborate boot up process. It begins when the computer performs the POST (power-on self test), followed by the POST for each adapter card that has a BIOS, for example, your video card. The BIOS then reads the MBR (Master Boot Record) which is in the first sector of the first hard disk and transfers control to the code in the MBR which is created by the XP Setup. This is where Windows takes over the startup process. What comes next? Here's what happens: # The MBR reads the boot sector which is the first sector of the active partition. This sector contains the code that starts Ntldr which is the boot strap loader for Windows XP. The first role of Ntldr is to allow full memory addressing, start the file system, read boot.ini and put up the boot menu. IMPORTANT: Ntldr must be located in root folder of the active partition along with Ntdetect.com, boot.ini, bootsect.dos (for dual booting) and Ntbootdd.sys (needed with some SCSI adapters). #* default=multi (0)disk (0)partiton (2) WINDOWS #* [operating systems] #* multi(0)disk(0)partiton(2)WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home" /fastdetect # Selecting XP from the boot menu causes Ntldr to run Ntdetect.com to get information about installed hardware. Ntldr then uses the ARC path specified in the boot.ini to find the boot partition. The one where Windows XP is installed. It might look like this: Ntldr, then, loads the two files that make up the core of XP: Ntoskrnl.exe and Hal.dll. These files must be located in the %SystemRoot%System32 folder. # Ntldr reads the registry files, selects a hardware profile, control set and loads device drivers, in that order. # Then, Ntoskrnl.exe takes over and starts Winlogon.exe which starts Lsass.exe (Local Security Administration), this is the program that displays the Welcome screen (If Professional Edition-the Windows Log On dialog box), and allows the user to log on with his/her user name and password.

In a bag of 6 white marble 4 black marbles and 1 red marble what is the least number of marbles that you need to take out of the box to ensure that you get 3 marbles of the same color?

8 i think 8 i think I guess it's 6.. and my point is that you have to try it through the worst sequence ever. starting with the red one (the one that is impossible for you to get another one, and will never reach the three same colored wanted) then start getting one of each of the two other colors each time, alternating, so it will take longer for you to have several of the same color: example: red > black > white > black > white > black (3 black ones)

or red > white > black > white > black > white (3 white ones) or (just to prove that alternate sequence isn't needed) white > black > black > red > white > (...)

(impossible to get any marble without getting the third of it's color, and by not getting the red one, this would have been impossible to reach, so to be SURE, you have to count this one in the first five, or it would come or not in the 5th position)

in this case, a longer sequence would have got the three equal-colored marbles some time ago. remembering, that this sequence is just to explain that 6 would do the job, and these balls would have been caught in a handful of marbles =) ps.:sorry for my poor English.
