No, but there recently invented turntables that simulate the feeling of using a record or LP but instead use CDs like the "Stanton C.304" (These tables are usually around $300-$600 and are designed for "Scratching" and are commonly used by DJ's).

How do you compress songs on iTunes to make them shorter so you can put them on one CD?

If you are burning audio CDs, no matter what you do, you will only be able to fit about 72 minutes of music on each disc (this varies between different brands of CDs, but 72 is about the minimum, 80 about max). This does not change regardless of the compression. If you really want to make your songs shorter, you can do that by selecting a song then selecting "Get Info" from the "File" menu. Click the "Options" tab at the top of the dialog box that comes up. You will see two text boxes that allow you to change the start and end time of that particular piece of music. Starting your songs later or ending them later will allow them to take up less room on an audio CD. If you are burning mp3 CDs, however, you can use iTunes built-in compression and conversion tool. Read this Apple support document for the step-by-step: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61000 Generally, using a lower bit-rate in the Preferences dialog will give you smaller songs so you can fit more on a disc.

Why do Intermediates use apple Macs?

Macs have always been popular in the education sector because a lot of educational software was developed specifically for Macs. Many schools who decided to use Macs early have continued to work with them. Schools also often prefer to use Apple Macs because of their reliability and ease of use for students. Because Apple makes both the hardware and software with Macs, there are few problems that arise over the Mac's life.

Does mac OS x 14.0 full install single user CD or DVD include quickbooks new user edition for mac?

Since there is no such version of Mac OS as in your question, I'm going to assume you mean Mac OS X 10.4, instead of 14.0. And no, Quick Books does not come with Mac OS. For a list of software included in the current Mac OS version, see the Apple Inc website at: "http://www.apple.com/macosx"

Will a palm pilot work with a mac?

The answer quite simply is yes. All you have to do is go to the Palm Web site and download the version of the Palm Desktop to your computer and install it. It is that simple. Just go here: http://www.palm.com/us/support/palmdesktop.html You could also get OS X 10.3 or later then install palm credentials. That way, you don't need a whole program (Palm Desktop)! The program that uses the credentials is called iSync. iSync 1.5 was the latest version that worked with OS X 10.2 but I cannot find it anywhere! I would strongly recommend getting palm desktop for 10.1-10.2 and the palm credentials to use with iSync for 10.3+

How do you deal with right click in Java Swing?

You would implement a MouseListener class like so:

public class MyMouseListener extends MouseAdapter {

public class MyMouseListener() {}

public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e) {

if (e..getButton() MouseEvent.BUTTON3) {

; //the third button (right?)

}

}

}

Then you add in what you want to do when the correct button gets clicked. After that, you create a MyMouseListener object and register it as a MouseListener for whichever component you are trying detect events for (e.g. a pop-up menu for a JFrame).

Why did Roxio Toast Titanium 5 stop recognizing your internal Mac DVD CD-R drive?

I'm posting this question *and* the answer to spare others the grief I just went through to get Toast working again on my G4. I upgraded Mac OSX to version 10.3.9 and discovered Roxio Toast Titanium 5.1.2 stopped recognizing my burners (internal Superdrive DVD/CD-R and external Plexwriter CD-R). This is the series of events which ended up fixing the problem for me... 1) I checked "About This Mac" and could see both the internal burner and an external PlexWriter. So I knew it was either Toast, or a conflict which was created after updating the OSX. 2) I tried activating, disabling, destroying, and otherwise messing with extensions in Classic 9.0. Nothing. Extensions were mentioned in a lot of the Internet threads, and on Roxio's own help page. 3) I threw out the "preference" file which in OSX is now a file that exists within the program "package" and ends with something like .rot or .rto. Nothing. 4) I downloaded a freeware application called Patchburn, which can help with situations where the burner is missing. Nada. 5) I reinstalled Toast and put in a fresh serial number. Nope. 6) I downloaded the Toast Titanium 5.2.3 Updater from Roxio... 7) It didn't want to install. On the fourth try, I found the Toast folder myself using "browse." 8) It updated. 9) When I started Toast 5.2.3, I had to enter my serial number, and when it started up it could see the Yamaha internal burner! Yay, me. I have no idea what the OSX update put in place, but Toast sure didn't like it. I'm surprised more Mac folks haven't had this problem. Hopefully this little post will help others out so they don't have to waste a day in stupid forums.

What is the cheapest most basic Microsoft software you should buy if you just want the Microsoft Word feature for your Apple Mac laptop computer?

TextEdit is plenty for you, you most likely won't need anything else. If you do, DO NOT download NeoOffice. It is complete garbage. Use it for a few days and you'll know what I mean. I would download Lotus Symphony, which is actually much more powerful than Word, and free.

AnswerThe previous answer is not entirely correct. Text Edit cannot do 95% of what Word can do. It is more like 15%. If all you want to do is type, it will suffice. However, if you need any more functionality, I might suggest OpenOffice or Pages (made by Apple). Open Office is open source and free to download and use. Pages is part of iWork which can be purchased from the Apple Store for $79 and includes some powerful software. By the way, both OpenOffice and Pages will open and save to Word format. AnswerThe best option for you would be to purchase the student/teacher edition which is the lowest cost package. That does require that you have at least OSX installed on the computer. It also allows you to install on up to 3 computers.

You may have trouble buying an educational version if you are not a student or teacher. Also, unless you specifically want Microsoft Word, you could use a program that is compatible with MS Word's .doc files. One such program is Neo Office. It is open source software and is totally free to use; it can be found through the link to the right. There you will also find the system requirements. If you do specifically want MS Word, and you can't get the Student/Teacher edition you can purchase Word on its own, but it is pretty expensive ($239 USD)

However, it's worth noting that TextEdit - included free with Mac OS X - can do 95% of what Microsoft Word can do, including reading and writing Microsoft Word formats. It should be more than enough for most people, so try using TextEdit before you spend hundreds of dollars on software you may not need.

AnswerOpenOffice.org is a free and open-source office suite. It has an excellent text editor called Writer (it has a layout similar to Microsoft Word 2003, but it looks nicer), and it is absolutely free: http://www.openoffice.org/. It can read and write in .doc and .docx file formats, and OpenOffice Writer it is an excellent (and free) Microsoft Word alternative.
