For my Mazda I use 10w-30

take out the flywheel and replace it with four banana peels, if this doesn't work take out the transmission and replace the fuel filter with a carton of milk.

On almost all cars, the thermostat housing is right where the top radiator hose meets the engine itself. Drain 50% of the coolant,remove the housing bolts, remove the thermostat (note how it is positioned so you don't put the new one in upside down) scrape the old gasket material off the engine and housing, put new thermostat in, put new gasket in place, attatch housing with bolts (don't overtighten)...and refill with coolant. If there is a screw on the housing, start car, loosen screw until coolant starts to come out with no bubbles. This will bleed air out of the system so the motor doesn't overheat.

The firing order on a 2003 Mazda Protege DX 2.0 is 1, 4, 2, 5, 3, 6. The number 1 cylinder is on the back right as you face the engine.

Yes, you can use 10 W 30 motor oil in a 2003 Mazda Protege. If you live in areas where the temps are very cold, 5 W 30 is recommended.

Overheating can come from many causes: Low radiator coolant, broken fan thermostat, broken fan, low oil, worn-out water pump, too much grime on the engine, or clogs in the coolent or oil system. If your Protege is turbo-charged, you may want to check that system as well. Aftermarket items added to increase engine power can also cause overheating if the oil and coolent systems aren't also upgraded.

Trouble code P0170 means: Adaptive Fuel Trim Too Rich or Too Lean (Bank 1)

As I recall, that engine does not have an EGR valve.

there is a certain tool that will detect a small vibration. check each injector with this. no detection will determine the faulty injector IT WILL TELL YOU. no it wont tell you. take a long screw driver, and put the metal end on the top of the injector with the engine running. if you hear a small clicking noise, then it is working properly. make sure you check all 4 injectors

The manual transmissions on the Mazda Mx-3 series cars are filled through the speedometer sensor hole. Simply remove the 2 bolts that hold it on, pull out the sensor, taking care not to damage/dirty the sensor, and fill to the appropriate level.

Alternatively, there is a check and drain plug on the transmission, underneath the car. The transmission is located on the drivers side, beside the engine and the plugs are recognized because they are fairly large hexagonal plugs. The drain plug is nearest the bottom and the check plug (or fill plug) is up a little ways and facing the front of the car.

Pop the hood. Disconnect the negative battery cable, then the positive battery cable. If you disconnect the positive first you could possibly ground out the battery with your wrench causing a short. Once those have been disconnected the car should have no power. There is a battery tie down on top of the battery that holds it in place. On one side of the battery tie down there is a bolt threaded on to a long rod that continues down to the bottom of the battery. I believe that bolt is either an 8mm or 10mm. Once that bolt has been removed the battery tie down bar can be removed and there is a black plastic box that sits around the battery and that should lift right up. Once those pieces have been removed the battery is free to be removed. Follow the same steps in reverse to install a new battery. The main thing is that when putting the cables onto the new battery put the positive on first then the negative.

Disconnect batt, lift corner front pass side, follow pos cable to end-that is starter. remove cable & wires. Remove bolts (usually 2-3) with socket. take care removing last 1, starter is heavy. Reverse to install. If new starter lacks solenoid (little cylinder on top for most) just add old one to new starter. Is pretty straight fwd. Have fun:)

Check the wheel bearings and the front brakes for wear. These are the most common places that cause the roar.

you may have blown the computer chip that regulates your lights its usually your hazard lights button that's the chip.

If its a 2001+ Stratus Coupe first you need to remove the 2 bolts on the left and right sides of the lower middle dash assembly, these are at the very bottom of the assembly close to the center console (were your gearshift knob is. Once you remove those the assembly around your stero will come off. After that its just a matter of unbolting the stereo, sliding it out and removing the wireing harness in the back.

Directly under the throttle body. A few 10 or 12mm bolts. and a plug also i believe. Very easy, just in a bad spot.

It's difficult to find but easy to get to (if that makes sence). Just take off the front grill. There are two screws inside the hood. pop that off, and the horn should be right there.

To check the hold light blinking of a Mazda Protege, take off the plastic over the shifter tube or bar. Then take off the console below it and look at the wires that come up from the hollow center of the tube. The edge of the shifter tube may have cut through the wire insulation.
