When a miscarriage begins, the first thing you might notice is lower back pain

that is constant and/or sharp. Lower back pain is usually followed by mild or severe abdominal cramps. You may experience spotting for the first few days. Just to give some background on my situation. I am going through fertility treatment because I have PCOS. I did 5 rounds of Clomid and metformin with no success. Started Gonadotropin therapy (Puregon) last cycle and ovulated 2 or 3 eggs on Day 17 of my cycle with the help of HCG trigger shot. My RE performed IUI to increase chances of success. Went for my pregnancy test on March 7 (Saturday) and it came out positive with HCG levels at 161. I was really happy since all my hard work finally gave a BFP. I was called for another HCG test on Monday and the results came out at 518 which was good but Monday evening I started experiencing pain in my lower back and my right ovary. I also felt the same pain in upper right leg. I was spotting light pink discharge since March 5(Thursday) which changed to bright red bleeding on Thursday evening. The bleeding was still light but the pain was very bad. I went to my doctor on Tuesday morning and he asked me to get tested for HCG and Progesterone levels. Well the results for HCG came down to 280 from 518. I know it is not a good sign but I was wondering if any one went through the same situation as me and had successful pregnancy? I am still bleeding but it is reddish brown in color and it is still light in flow. I do not have similar back pain etc. but I do get a wave pain for minute or so every now an then. I believe I am 5 wks 2 days and really hoping that my pregnancy will continue. Please let me know if any one had similar experience as me.

Faint lines are positive lines. Positive is positive is positive. It sounds like you may have been pregnant but are having/had a miscarriage. With one of my miscarriages, I had a positive home test and then 2 days later I went to get my confirmation of pregnancy at planned parenthood. The gal came back in and told me I wasnt pregnant. When I told her I had a positive test at home, she decided she had better check it again. This time she agreed that I was pregnant, but the line came so faint and so late that she had missed it the first time. The next day I started bleeding, saw my ob and was confirmed to be miscarrying. The only way for you to know for sure is to see a physician, have a pelvic exam and possibly ultrasound and repeat pregnancy test.

YES, IT IS TOTALLY POSSIBLE!! I was the one who asked this question about 2 days ago and today I found out I am pregnant. I usually have brown discharge on regular cycles but this one was an IUI cycle, my 4th IUI cycle. The first 3 I didn't spot at all and wasn't pregnant but with this one I spotted for like 9 days and I am!! So it's totally possible. Now I'm crossing my fingers so that it stays 9 months! If the doctor examined you after the miscarriage you are not pregnant anymore. He would've caught it. It takes several weeks for the hormones to settle so that might be it or you are pregnant again.

That depends on how much bleeding? Did you recently have sex because that can cause some bleeding. You don't always have to be in pain to miscarry. You should call your ob/gyn immediately.

Oh for heaven's sake woman if you have a stitch you have a problem right? Get to the hospital and don't ask questions like this on WA. Call your doctor! It might be an emergency.

Most likely not. During a miscarriage the pain if often unbearable and there is a lot of blood....I would say it would be the type of birth control you are on, sometimes it can cause you to have a late period and time it can cause sharp pains and possibly even small blood clots as that's what happened to my friend. My consult your doctor because you may need to change you birth control medication to something that suits you better :)

The pain was close to unbearable and the blood was brownish, it also looked like it had white stuff in it during the heaviest time when I saw the blood clots. There were small clots but there was one large on about the size of a quarter and a half. It kind of just came out. The blood seamed to die down after that but it stayed around for a while, and what was weird was it only seamed to come out when i was standing up, sitting up, but not when i was laying down.

My period usually will still come when I'm laying down.

You should talk to your doctor about that. I don't know of any reasons why three tests in a row would be wrong. If they are all three from the same box, then maybe they were all contaminated somehow. Or if they were a super cheap kind, they may not work properly. I really can't say, but you should talk to your doctor and get more answers from them.
