How do you remove and install a timing belt on a 1994 Pontiac Sunbird 2.0?

This is really hard for me to explain, however I'll give it a try. First you need to remove the plastic cover on the passenger side of engine. Next you will need to set the bottom crank pulley on "0". Then make sure your cam is lined up with the mark on the timing plate behind the cam,(there is a small mark) put it on dead center. Next you will need to loosen the tensioner for the timing belt. Remove the belt and replace it with the new one. Then you are ready to begin putting your car back together. Hope this helps.

AnswerThe tensioner for the timing belt on these cars is the water pump.

the first thing you should do is go to just about any auto parts store and spend 25 bucks on a haynes repair manual for your car, the after freading up on how hard its going to be then you will want to fallow the instructions carefully, and you will need to have a machanicail back ground or know someone who does that can help, because theres alot more invovled than juat taking off plastic covers, it's a very exstinsive job.

Can you use super unleaded gas in a Mitsubishi galant GDI series 99?

You can use super unleaded gas in any motor but it is pointless and a waste of money if the engine does not call for it. Higher octane fuels have additives to make them less explosive than lower octane gas so the will not predetonate or knock in the higher compression engines. They do not have more available energy to give your auto more power. The use of them can also leave unburned deposits behind in a lower combustion engine.

Where is the carburetor on a 1998 Mitsubishi Galant?

The 98 Galant doesn't have a carburator!! It uses a fuel injection system w/ a fuel rail. If you're asking this question because you think you may be having fuel delivery problems, buying some fuel injector cleaner gas additive and about a half a tank of Premium fuel should take care of the problem. You may have to do that more than once if you've never cleaned the injectors before.

Where are the spark plugs on a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant and can you change them without much trouble?

Spark plugs are always either located on top of valve cover or front or back of cylinder head. Always use the correct tooling which is a spark plug socket which has a rubber seeling in the inside to hold the spark plug while removing and protecting the plug from breaking. Its good to get the recommended spark plug and checking the spark plug gap before replacing new one.

AnswerTrace the spark plug wires from the distribution system and you will find that they are on the back side of the engine (nearest the firewall). No, there is no EASY way for the layman to change any plugs located like that. Feel is the best way to get them out -feel where plug is, guide the plug socket over plug, undo it and remove. In some cases, you can use a dental type mirror to reinstall the plugs. I suggest doing them one at a time to keep your firing order in line. AnswerActually I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Galants and they are not on the backside of the engine. Mine are on topside of the engine behind the oil cap. There are two types of spark plugs on the 2000 Galant. Two that are connect to a psuedo-distributor and the other two have small black boxes on the which are computer sensors that are constantly reading the spark timing. It is actually very easy to change them. The plug wire socket pops off and then you can screw the plug out. just make sure that when you remove the two with the computer boxes on them that you do it very carefully not to bend or bang the box, cuz them you'll have a problem. AnswerJust changed the spark plugs on my 2000 Galant 4cyl....very easy! The above answer is very informative, the plugs are located directly on top of the motor behind oil cap.The only thing I will add:make sure you have some way to remove the plug from the engine(the plugs are about 7" down inside the motor)once you loosen the plugs you still have to some how get them out.I didnt have a tool that would fit down the hole to grab it so I stuck a few pieces of bubble gum into the spark plug socket and they came right out(kinda like putting gum on the end of a stick to get a coin out a gutter)It takes a total of 15min.Good Luck. :-)

Bleed fuel system mitsibushi?

in the old days bleeding a fuel injector system was necessary. Today really not an issue. Some mechanics say it still necessary especially if you run the tank and fuel rail completely dry. Usually turn on the key and the fuel pump imediately pressurizes the fuel rail. You can "CAREFULLY" check this by doing the above.THEN DISCONNECT the battery and disconnect the fuel pressure rail end and see if fuel trickles out. HAVE A WAY TO CATCH FUEL!! and no sparks !!!!!!!!! You will find if fuel is there then it is something else like fuel injectors?fuel injector signal from ecm. If no fuel check fuel pump /fuel pump relay/ fuel filter/and purchase a good fuel pressure guage from SEARS with adapters to see what the fuel pressure is.Also we need to know what the engine is,2.4,3.0.etc.

Why does my 2003 Mitsubishi galant only blow cold air from the heater vents?

there are 3 possibilities here. let's hope the probem is #1 or #2/

1) check for low coolant in system. if very low, you will loose circulation throughout system, particularly throug heaer core.

2) run vehicle for 10 minutes. shut off engine. pull off rd. hose from thermostat housing and check for coolant above thermostat. chck temp if present. if none or if present and cool-replace thermostat=thermostat stuck, either open or closed.

3) if coolant at proper level, the problem is most assuredly a bad heaer core-either clogged or air-locked.

**if coolant level fine and thermostat fine,I would, first, remove the rad. cap, pull off the heater hose to the block/manifold. I would get a garden hose and terry towel, start the engine, place the hose into the rad. opening, wrap with the terry towel-with pressure around it and have omeone turn on the water full force to force water/pressure through the system to get water/coolant through the heater core-if physical block and if air lock. once the coolant goes through core, you will be able to see the coolant exiting the heater hose that you just disconnected.

reconnect hoses, replace rad. cap. and rfil system wi proper mix of coolant.

a quick "solve",in most cases , is to replace the thermostat. if the thrmstat is stuck open, the coolant won't heat up enough in colder weather to offer warmt inside he vehicle. if stuck shut, the hot colant won' circulae thru the core for introducing the warmth of the heated coolant into the vehicle.

if you replace the therm. and stilll have problems, try the **suggestion above.

What size windshield wipers do you need for 2002 Mitsubishi eclipse?

2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse takes a 24" drivers side, 21" passenger side and a 22" rear wiper. See sources and related links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only. Be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.

Car keeps over heating even after the thermostat was replaced mistibushi?

I had a similar (read: exact) problem. It was caused by the cooling fans not opearting. I spent $800 having a dealer sort it out. The problem was a broken ground wire between the relay box and the fans. You can troubleshoot them by jumping 12 vdc to the teminals on the fan housings. You'll have to disconnect the harness wires to do this. In the end, my cooling problem has been repaired and I do not know where they installed the wire. Temporarily, use your heater to cool the engine. Run it at max temp, max fan to cool things down. It's not the most comforfortable solution, but for temporary use it will keep your head from heat warping. Eric

What is the radio code for a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant?

As part of the radio's anti-theft system on some older model year vehicles (2002 and older), the radio resets itself whenever it loses power from the vehicle's battery. Radio security codes are associated with each individual radio unit rather than the vehicle identification number (VIN) (since a vehicle could have the radio replaced). The radio security code must be input in the radio in order for the radio to work. When you purchased your vehicle, you should have received a card that lists the four digit security code for the radio. If you are unable to locate this card (sometimes owners find it inserted in the Owner's Manual or glove box), the radio will need to be removed so that you can locate the Part Number and Serial Number for your specific radio. The Part Number typically begins with the letters "MR" and the Serial Number is generally a string of digits and both numbers can be located on the audit unit's chassis. Please contact your local Authorized Mitsubishi Dealer if you need assistance removing the radio. Once the Part Number and the Serial Number are in hand, your Dealer can access the security code for that radio. You may also contact our Customer Relations Call Center at 1-888-MITSU2009 (1-888-648-7820) and one of our agents will be happy to provide you with the security code and steps to reset the radio as long as you have the Part Number and Serial Number for your radio unit. Agents are available Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (PT).
