How do you adjust the clutch pedal on a 1996 Nissan maxima?

If you are referring to adjusting the height of the pedal, I might be able to help you get started. If you can squeeze under your dash to where your pedal is, there is a stopper bar behind the pedal that can be adjusted by first loosening the washer that holds it in place and then turning the bolt until you get the pedal where you wish it to be. This is what i did for my 95 maxima, and I assume it is the same. If you are referring to adjusting the height of the pedal, I might be able to help you get started. What should you do when you hear pinging or rattling when accelerating 2000 Nissan maxima?

The first thing I would suggest is to use premium fuel, as the owner's manual recommends. You could also try fuel additives, such as an octane booster. However, I've had very limited success by using these products. Some sources also warn against their use. I don't know if the dealer can adjust anything with the computer or not. I read that the car's computer is supposed to recognize this problem, and correct for it. Perhaps it was a bit of the good old 'sales pitch' effect. None the less, I've driven several older-model Lincoln Towncars that would ping a lot, especially in the summer. As many people as I asked, and as many things I tried, the problem simply could not be remedied. I even read mention of the problem (believe it or not) in the Lincoln owner's manual! So that should tell you how incurable the problem might be. If there's a sure-fire, cheap, easy fix, I'm with you... that is, still looking for it. My 2000 Maxima pings as you described, but when I ask various "experts" about it, they look at me like I'm speaking an unknown language. If I ever find a conclusive resolution, I'll respond here.

Where is the PCV valve located on a 1998 Olds Intrigue?

The PCV valve on a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue is located under the MAP sensor. If you remove the large plastic cover with 3800 written on it and look to the left side of the engine there is a sensor marked (Pressure Sensor) with 3 wires going into it. Unplug that sensor and turn it counter clockwise and lift it off and you will see the PCV valve under it. Here is a picture to go along with my answer. http://autorepair.about.com/library/illustrations/bl795lib.htm

What is wrong with a 1990 Nissan Maxima if the rear window on the driver's side rolls down all by itself?

If by " rolls down all by itself" you mean that it slowly slides down while traveling in the car, then my advice would be to take the door panel off and check to see if the window came off the the lower clips. If every thing looks sound and or the window is electronicly rolling itself down I don't know what to tell you.

When changing the 02 sensors and the spark plugs on a 1998 Nissan Maxima why would the service engine soon light still come on?

Have the service engine soon (check engine), same thing light scanned to know exactly what is the problem. You may purchase a cheap scan tool at some car shops like Canadian tire and scan the code yourself. Obviously make sure to change the defective parts with good parts and cancel the code afterwards. I hope this was helpful.

Airbag light in 1999 Nissan maxima kept flashing?

There are two solutions for this problem, that either is resulting from a harness ground or a loose connection between the airbag sensor plugs.

Try these the steps below

1. Turn the key from off to on.

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

If this doesnt work try

1. Turn ignition off.

2. Open drivers side door.

3. Locate the driver door switch (located on door post)

4. Turn Ignition on and press the door switch at lease 5 times within 7 seconds.

5. If light starts flashing quickly in a marker sequence you have an existing fault code.

if light continues to flash slowly, you have an itermittent problem.

Once you turn key off and restart vehicle the system will be reset.

It is very common to have the seat belt restraints lose their ground. Beware of replacing many of these components yourself, unless they are done properly you could set the airbag off.

How do you test a coil pack on 2001 Nissan maxima?

It may not be possible to bench-test a coil pack and get an absolutely good or absolutely bad finding. When my '92 Maxima frequently stopped dead, a Nissan mechanic reported (on their internal information system) encountering a similar complaint. He suspected an ignition problem. He removed all six coils, and tested them on his bench; they all tested O.K. But the car's engine continued to quit. So, he removed all three coils (one cylinder bank at a time) replacing them with new ones. When the engine quit, he knew he'd idenified the bank with a bad coil. He then replaced each of those coils with a new coil, one at a time, until he identified the bad one. Again. that coil tested O.K. in the shop. Why? probably because it was failing under the heat and vibration during operation. You have two choices: (1) Buy a new coil, and use it to replace one coil at a time; it will take a while, but eventually you'll find the find the one that's misfiring. Or, (2): Buy a complete set of new coils--expensive but time-saving!

How much does it cost to replace a cv joint on a 2000 Nissan maxima and can you do it yourself?

I don't know how much it cost to have it done. I just replaced my left front one on a 2000 manual. I bought the whole axel for about $80.00 + tax. You will also need some transmission fluid. I have a manual transmission and it dropped about 80 ounces of fluid. The most difficult part was setting the new one into the transmission. You will need a big breaker bar to break the axle nut loose. It is a 34 mm nut and you may need a deep socket to get it. The replacement I bought came with a 36mm nut. The Hayes manual is pretty good on this I can send you some pictures. Take the cotter pin out of the axle nut then loosen the nut while the car is on the ground. After breaking the axle nut loose breake the lug nuts for the tire loose then jack the car up. Remove the tire. I take the caliper off vit the 2 bolts on the back of it. I think these are 17mm or 3/4 I'm not sure. They are the 2 bigger bolts on the caliper to completely remove the assembly from the rotor. Hang it from the shock. Do NOT LET THE CALIPER HANG BY THE BREAK LINE. This line is not designed to hold weight. Use a cloths hanger or bungee cord to support the caliper. Take the rotor off. There is another line that goes to the wheel bearing. You can get some extra room from this by removing it from the clip that it snaps into and remove the braket that holds it in in the back via a 12mm maybe a 10mm screw. Take the splash guard off via 2 bolts and 2 rivits. Take the 2 bolts out of the strut tower so that the wheel bearing can tilt forward. Now you need to remove the axle from the wheel bearing. Mine was stuck very good. You are supposed to use a soft hammer or a brass punch to free it. Once it is freed you will need carefully pry the other end out of the transmission. You will need a pry bar for that. . You will also need a drip pan for the transmission fluid that is goign to pour out. The left side manual just pulls out while the right side on a manual transmission needs to have 3 bolts removed. When putting the new one in the only trouble that I had was that the left one did not want to go back into the transmission. It is locking in by a little metal ring that seemed to get caught up. Anyway I could only get it half way in. The way I got around this was by putting the other end back in the wheel bearing and using that for leverage to push it into the transmission. You may want to search the internet to find a better way to do this. That was the only thing that I could find other than people say that it is a pain with the Nissans. Don't forget to top off the transmission fluid when you're finished.

Where is the PCV valve located on a 1998 Mercury Mystique?

The PCV on the 2.0L Zetec is under the exhaust manifold. If you look at the thermostat housing, there is a steel hose that runs underneath it. Follow that down under the exhaust manifold. It can be changed if you know how to do it with out taking off alot of stuff.Depending on flexibility and hand size, the average person can reach the PCV from underneath the car. Reach under the exhaust manifold, between the catalytic converter and block - PCV is in plain view from here. Otherwise, you'll have to remove the heat shield above the manifold (horizontal across front of engine below valve cover) and catalytic converter from the block as outlined in the Haynes repair manual.

just remove thermostate housing and there is a bolt holding the meatal tube going to the pcv. need 10 mm and a 3/16 Allen wrench

How do you remove the wiper arm assy on a 1990 190e 2.6 to gain access to blower motor?

1. raise hood to full open position. 2. remove negative (ground) cable from battery. 3. remove black plastic leaf screen and rubber strip that run across the bottom of the windshield and top of engine firewall. there are a couple of plastic screws that hold the screen in place. the blower cover is now visible below the centre of the windshield as a black plastic housing with a couple of gentle torpedo shaped bulges in it and two narrow vertical metal straps down the front. 4. remove 6 small sheet metal bolts (3 down each side) that hold the top section of the metal firewall behind the engine in place. push the section gently but firmly towards the engine an inch or so. 5. remove the wiper motor and arm assembly by removing a handful of small bolts and nuts (all 10 mm heads). unplugging the wiring is not necessary. set aside the whole wiper assembly - on top of the engine is as good a place as any (but don't close the hood on it!) if u have any climatic control questions u can visit my tutorial at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w201-190e-d-class/1358590-troubleshooting-mercedes-benz-190-e-d-210-tempmatic-climate-control-system.html

Why would the check engine light come on in a 2000 Maxima two days after your 90K mile service at a Nissan dealer in which they informed you that there was a crack in your manifold pan?

Your question isn't clear, but I'll offer a few thoughts. There are 2 manifolds, an intake and a exhaust. I'm not sure what you mean by "pan". It is possible that this can set a check engine light if one of the manifolds are cracked. If it is the intake it may be changing the air/fuel mixture or pressure. If it is the exhaust, depending on hte locations of the O2 sensors, it may pick up the wrong O2 content.

On a 1996 Nissan Maxima which O2 sensor is Bank 2 Sensor 1 since there are three sensors?

Bank 1 Sensor 1: Located on rear exhaust manifold pipe nearest the firewall. Fairly easy to remove with the right tools. Clip located on left side of engine compartment.

Bank 1 Sensor 2: Located just behind the Catalytic Converter. Very easy to remove and clips on just inside rubber gromet.

Bank 2 Sensor 1: Located on front exhaust manifold pipe nearest the radiator. Hard to reach without specific tools. Clip located in front of engine compartment.

Bank 1 = both front firewall-side sensor (1) AND rear sensor (2). Bank 2 = front radiator-side sensor (1). Bank one refers to the section of the manifold that vents exhaust from the cylinder bank including cylinder #1...bank two = from cylinder #2 and its comrades.
