Is there a fuse that controls digital dash on '84 300ZX - ECM box is good since digital dash went out suddenly and completely along with the accel gauge and compass - odometer now runs backwards too?

I found the answer myself and thought I'd post it. The Rear Wiper Motor fuse also serves the front dash for some reason. The clue to this is that the accel (G) gauge and compass also went out at the same time. The rear wiper wasn't working, but that was unknown since it had not been needed since the dash went out. I checked that fuse in the fuse box and, sure enough, it was blown. I replaced it and the dash came back on.

Do British cars odometers calculate in miles or kilometers?

They record in kilometers, yet distances on British road signs are prominently displayed in miles and car's speedometers read in miles per hour with km/h in small display just like the U.S.! As ironic as that sounds, it's a fact.

On a 2002 Chevy Prizm how do you change a light in the dashboard behind the odometer?

Instrument Panel Lamp Procedure per Prizm Shop Manual This procedure only applies to cars with tilt steering wheels. "Prizms without tilt wheels are infinitely more difficult because you have to disable the airbag system and remove the trim covers from the steering wheel. " not too sure about that...Important: The ignition switch must be in the OFF position when removing the instrument cluster assembly. 1. Tilt the steering column down in order to gain the necessary clearance to remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate. 2. Remove the two screws that secure the instrument panel cluster trim plate. 3. Disengage the two lower clips (hidden) 4. Gently remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate from the instrument panel assembly. and move it into the larger open portion of the steering wheel. Turn sterring wheel to the left and drop it out the bottom. 5. Remove the three screws which secure the instrument panel assembly, pull out the assembly carefully. 6. Mark the the 4 electrical connectors where they connect to the cluster assembly so that you remember which connector went to which socket. Unnecessary7. Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors from the cluster assembly Unnecessary 8. Remove the instrument cluster assembly Unnecessary, shift it out to one side 9. Remove the instrument cluster retainer with the instrument cluster lens attached from the instrument cluster case by releasing the 8 locking tabs. Unnecessary 10. Remove the cluster bulb socket from the instrument cluster case by turning in a counterclockwise direction. Remove the old bulb from the socket. Remove the green rubber boot from the old bulb place on new bulb, insert in socket and replace the bulb. 11. Reverse the procedure to reassemble NOTE: This is such a convoluted procedure you should replace all bulbs while you are this deep into it. Trust me, the other bulbs will soon go bad. Incredibly, the shop manual does not list the part number of the bulb. Note 2: It is easier, and you are less likely to break the trim plate, if this is done while the dash is warm and therfore more flexible. Like parked in the sun for a while before starting. Also, the bulb is a #194, and you will want to get green colored "instrument bulb boots".

How do you repair odometer mileage and trip LCD on 2001 Buick Regal LS?

Remove the instrument cluster and replace the resistors on the circuit board. You can get them from radio shack, an it's not hard to do. While you are in there, I would recommend replacing all bulbs and stepper motors to your gauge needles so you won't ever have to take the cluster out again.

Odometer does not work do you need to replace the whole dash on a 98 sunfire?

I have been told that the cluster is essentially "throw away". Beware of scammers when looking for a replacement. I was quoted $500.00 (including programming)+ $350.00 for installation. I went to the wreckers and got a cluster for $60.00. Disconnect the positive battery terminal. After snapping off the small plastic trim underneath the windshield, snapping off the vent cover on the dashboard, removing about a dozen, "easy to get at screws," the dashboard easily lifts out of the way. All you do is unplug the cluster at the back, plug the new one in, and you're done. No programming is required... the onboard computer automatically resets the odometer to the correct mileage. Re-install the dashboard and trim in reverse order. The whole process took me about 45 minutes. It's much easier than one would think.

How do you reset digital odometer?

No way to really tell w/o knowing the exact type and brand of odometer. But usually there's a recessed button on the underside. Poking that with a pen or a matchstick usually resets the unit.

If you mean to delete old mileage and "reset" with new mileage then it is a lot more complicated than above method, you will need to disassemble the odometer cluster and with the aid of special hardware/software/programmer recalibrate the mileage to your requirements. This job is not easy for those unfamiliar with it, and in most but not all cases is illegal.

How do you get the odometer and trip meter to work on a 1995 Cougar The speedometer works fine any ideas and how do you access where you need to be?

I have a 94 and it is electronic. You have to remove the gauge assy and the odometer unit is inside. There is a place on the internet http://www.dashusa.com/ford_trucks.htm that can send you one with your current milage already dialed in. They quoted me $275.00 trade in and you have to perform the work.

Ignore the Truck part, My cougar and Ford truck odometer failed, and I found this place while researching the truck. They do handle most all cars/trucks.

What does DMV odometer disclosure mean?

this just informs the DMV of the actual millage on the vehicle when it was bought or sold. This information is usually saved in a database tied to the DMV database and can be looked by a future potential buyer. So essentially with older vehciles a lot of odometers only read to 99,999 miles then turned over to start over from zero. So this keeps people honest, if the vehicle is bought new then sold at 70,000 miles a person drives it another 70,000 they couldn't sell the car as having 40,000

The instrument panel has stopped working on your 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage can't see speed or gas level How can this be fixed?

i am going on past experience here, but newer dashes(instrument panels) are all digital and just plug into a holder or wiring harness, the days of speedometer cables are basically gone forever. So,disconnect battery and find shroud screws and remove cover, then find instrument cluster screws and undo, cluster should then come out, look on back side for wiring plugs.

get a good eye loop and be in well lit area and inspect the pins were they are soldered into the board. If you find a solder connection that looks like it has a round crack or i/2 round crack then there is probably the problem. This called a cold solder joint. You can resolder if you know how or find an electronics buddy who knows how to solder and let him/her do it for you. If you have instrument with digital numbers it is on possibly the digital display has gone bad,in that case it's junk yard time or purchase a new one.hope this helps.
