Why does your car say starting disabled in your 1991 olsmobile toronado trofeo?
your car key has a chip in it and in the ignition switch there is two connectors that run to a theft safety component. if your key as bent or there is a short it will not complete the circuit and it dose not allow the car to stat.
I had to remove the door panel in my 84 Toro over the summer. I had to replace the window motor. ( which was a little challenging). Im gonna try to remember how I did it so it might not be complete. I know you need to unscrew the panel with the switches. There is also two screws under the handle you pull on to close the door. You have to unscrew the door lock on the top of the panel. I think there is a few screws inside the panel where you took the switch panel off. I think after that everything should pop off. There is little white "buttons" around the perimeter. I hope this helps you out.
How do you get the digital dash to work in a Toronado?
What year to what year- either way, you would need the wiring harness that would come from a vehicle that was equipped with the digital gauges. Wiring could prove to be a nightmare. Better off going and buying a vehicle with what you wish for already there.
Check all the data lines, the test connection near the parking brake (it's a small plastic cover with a metal connector that continues the data circuit), the 7 volt power supply above the gas pedal is a possible culprit, the BCM (body control module) and any part in between that involves the data line with includes the climate control, chime control module etc. The data circuit is a redundant circuit and in general it has to be shorted to ground or both sides open for it to have that type of effect on the cluster. In most cases it's the cluster itself unfortunately. The way it was designed, the parts that are surface soldered just lift off and you have problems from vibration and weather changes that cause this.
Where is the flasher relay on 1990 Toronado?
Actually the flashers on a 91 Toronado are on the driver side and can be reached by taking off the panel below the dash and the flashers will be near the steering colum on the right side of the colum. Should be in the same place on a 1990.
How do you bypass the security chip on a 1995 Camaro?
there isn't one
wes_edmiston says:
That's not true. Guessing, but I'd say your security light came on in your car or something along those lines? Happened to mine too : P. What you should do is take your key to your local Chevy dealer and get the resistance number off of your key(1-15). After that just look online for a VATS bypass module - I found one on eBay for $17.50 with free shipping. Install is fairly simple and sfter that you should be worry free...
What other engine will adapt to 78 toronado transmission?
The Rocket 350 oldsmobile engines will bolt in as well as the Rocket 455 olds.
What is the correct dwell setting for a 1968 Oldsmobile Toronado with a 455 engine?
I'm pretty sure that all General Motors V8 engines use the same dwell setting. Most likely you have a distributor with the little pull up door and points with the Allen screw adjuster. The setting is 28 - 32 degrees dwell so just set it as close to 30 degrees dwell as you can.
Where would the blower motor be located on your Oldsmobile toronado trofeo?
Viewed from the engine compartment, the blower motor is behind the engine on the firewall, towards the center of the car. It is usually black and has two larger wires running to it, one purple and one black.
Why wont my 1991 Oldsmobile toronado trofeo shift out of second gear?
I have two Trofeos' 1990 & 1992. I had this same problem with both cars. The least expensive approach would to drop the drain pan and clean or the transmission filter. Change the fluid even if you have already changed the fluid. If you had the fluid changed at a garage, they usually suck it out. Rarely does this method remove the debris that settles in the pan. Open the hood and on the right side of the transmission you will see a Module that is screwed into the transmission housing. Take it off and replace it. The filter, pan gasket, and module will cost you about $35.00 to $40.00 at most. These transmissions' are pretty stout, unless you or the previous ower has done a lot of "jack rabbit" starts. If indeed this works, drive the car a couple of months and have the fluid changed again. The reason for this is that the fuild in the torque converter will have had a chance to recycle. If there was a lot of debris in the pan and filter when you did it the first time, you be wise to clean or replace the fluid and filter again. Good Luck,
Dick Adams I had the same problem with my 1991 toronado, it's not a problem with the mechanics of the transmission. I had it taken to the repair shop, and it was a simple electrical problem with a blown fuse preventing electricity from getting to the transmssion. once the fuse was replaced, the car shifted fine.

How do you close the headlight covers on a 1990 Oldsmobile tornado?
They should close when you turn the headlights off. If not, you can close them manually with a knob in the engine compartment. It's round and located just to the left of the hood latch. Turn it clockwise until the headlight doors close. Then you can turn it counter-clockwise to open them.
Where is the mileage stored on an 1987 Oldsmobile toronado with digital cluster?
Unfortunately it is stored in a PROM in the BCM that is prohibited from being removed and replaced except by authorized Delco service centers and they don't make that PROM anymore nor do they service that PROM either. If your cluster is displaying the mileage and then an error it could be your body control module or the PROM. If it's the BCM then you can replace the BCM and re-use your PROM. There are two Proms in the BCM One is a EEPROM and the other is a PROM. Get yourself a copy of the 1987 OLDSMOBILE TORONADO SHOP SERVICE MANUAL (green cover) easily found on Ebay. This manual will show you EVERYTHING there is to know about this car and how to service it.
Can you put a dual exhaust system on a 1985 Oldsmobile Toronado?
Sorry, but there is not enough room (in a few places) for a dual exhaust - the cross over pipe shift it to the drivers side and if you look at the car from the back , you'll also see that the gas tank is offset to the drivers side. I'm sure you might find a custom shop that will bend you new pipes but the fit will be way off - you'd be better off putting in a new pipe from the crossover to the back but have them use a larger pipe - it'll give you a bit of a boost - banknotes@rogers.com

How do you install an alternator in a 1985 Toronado?
My initial response to this would be, no disrespect meant, if you cannot figure this one out, then perhaps you should go to a certified mechanic. If you want to learn, do it this way. ( I'm assuming that the alt light has come on and you know that the alternator needs to be replaced, not a battery failure or loose alternator belt ).
First and foremost, make sure you have the battery disconnected. Check the Web if your not sure how this should be done. Loosen the nut on the back of the bolt at the top of the alternator that goes through the bracket. Loosen the nut on the bolt at the lower right hand side of the alternator bracket. If you have cruise, then you have to loosen and maybe remove the bolt that holds the servo unit ( black plastic funny looking thing mounted on the left side ).
You now have to back off the tensioner bolt. This is the long bolt that is located on the bottom right side of the alternator. This is what is used to tighten or loosen the alternator belt. Now that you have all these bolts loosened, jiggle that alternator.
It should move and if it does then you are on your way. Now remove all of those nuts from those various bolts. Start at the bottom and remove the bolts leaving the top one last as this one holds the alternator in place. If you have backed off the tensioner bolt enough, you should be able to move the alternator up or down, so that you can take the belt off of the alt pulley. The alternator should be loose and free at this point. Put one hand under it, so it doesn't drop on the ground, and remove the bolt holding it.
You should now have an alternator in your hand, a bunch of bolts and nuts, and a loose alt belt sort of hanging there. If so, You have succeded. Now... do the reverse to put the new alternator in place. I hope you noted how you did this as you did it.
If all has gone well, then this is the perfect time to replace all the belts, since you're in there anyway. You will have to release tension on the power steering pump and air pump to get those belts off. To do this look at how these units are attached. They don't have to be taken off, only let free so you can remove the belts.
When you put on new belts, they don't have to be rigid tight. You should be able to push down on each belt, with your finger, maybe a sixteenth of an inch or so.
This also applies to the alt belt. You don't want it rigid tight. This is why the adjuster bolt is there. After everthing is in place start to tighten that bolt.
If you are confident that everything is in place and secure, reconnect the battery.
Start the car.
After a couple of weeks, check the tension on the belts as they will stretch somewhat after initial installation. If need be retighten where needed.
Disclaimer... I am not a mechanic. I own an 84 Toro with a 307 and have been driving it for 15 years. I've seen it all.
How do you reset the engine soon light on an 1984 olds toronado?
I'm assuming that you mean the check engine light?
Trying to figure out why it's on can be time consuming and costly.
EGR valve, cat converter can add up to big bucks.
The light in my car would come on then shut off after a few minutes, and would do this for weeks. Then nothing for weeks. It got so annoying that I simply took the light bulb out of the socket. I'm not suggesting that you do the same, but it solved my problem. I've owned my Toro for 16 years and know it inside and out, so for me that was the answer.
Where do you fill the transmission fluid on a 1979 Oldsmobile toronado?
You fill transmission with fluid through the transmission fluid dipstic tube
Where is the flasher on a Oldsmobile 1991 Toronado Trofeo?
There is a control module that is exclusively there to manage the headlight doors. It sends a voltage pulse to the motor and then stops sending voltage and monitors the movement of it (seeing if the motor continues to turn after voltage is removed). If the motor is still turning the module knows the headlight doors have not reached the full up or full down position and will again provide voltage to the motor. One the headlight doors reach the end of their travel the motor will no longer turn when the voltage is removed. The module sees this and will quit actuating the motor.
