Plymouth Sundance

Some thermostats have an arrow embosed on the one of the legs pointing toward the radiator. Generally speaking, the side with what looks like a spring and cylindrical bulb should be immersed in the heated water from the engine. Since the water in the hose attached to the radiator is not heated by the engine, this would be the wrong side. Also, on my Sundance (2.2L engine), the thermostat fits only in the correct orientation (try a dry fit first). Spring into engine.

There is no reset button for fuel. Ford has them but not Chrysler products.

The thermostat is on the top side of the engine. Follow the hose from the radiator to where it goes connects to the engine. The housing may have the coil bolted on to the outside, depending upon the model. On the top side of the housing is an Allen screw, which should help identify it, plus the temperature sensor is on it as well. The housing must be removed to change out the thermostat. The set screw must also be removed during refilling the system to allow air to escape.

it is a sensor on the transmission, you can get to it from the top under the hood, on the right side, when buying replacement auto parts guy should be able to point it out for you.

Gently remove the plastic cover from the dash by prying it out and down with a popsicle stick or somthing similar. Remove the three screws underneath and slowly pull the switch assembly out from the dash until you get hold of the multi pin plug. There is not alot of play in the length of wires so do not worry if it seems difficult. More in half an hour !

Follow the top radiator hose back to the engine. There is where the t-stat housing is. Remove the hose, remove the housing, remove the old t-stat, clean gasket surfaces install the t-stat into the housing with the spring side sticking out toward the engine, use spray adhesive to attach the gasket(DO NOT USE RTV), reinstall everything and be careful to evenly tighten the housing bolts until they are snug(DO NOT RAUNCH HARD ON THE BOLTS). Fill the cooling system with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water, and burp the system.
