Where is the air filter on a 1986 Firebird?

Well that all depends; Carb? Fuel Inj.? It's going to be right on top of the engine no matter what. Plastic Square or Metal Circle on top the engine...open which ever one you have and you will find the air filter.

Rhow do i replace brake light on 1995 firebird?

open the hatch and pull the carpet lining rear of the the trunk (by the latch) area back and you should see several winged nuts. unscrew them and the rear lights just pull right out. i think there's 5 but not sure, just make sure you get the ones in the corner. to get the carpet up you have to remove the little flap that folds over the t-top storage area and the plastic over the rear wheels, this is really easy though you just turn the little locks with a quarter and they come right out.

Where is the flasher on a 1999 Pontiac Firebird?

How do you troubleshoot and fix the right turn signal of a 1997 Pontiac Firebird Convertible that gets stuck and does not flash?

Change the blinker bulb for that side. It is a hit and miss though. If you change the front bulbs and it still doesn't blink you will also need to change the rear bulbs. The front bulbs are rather difficult to change from above the vehicle. You may want to get underneath and definitely during the day!!! THE REAL ANSWER!!!!!! This drove me crazy on my daughters car. It turned out to be the day time running light modual wich is located behind the radio. the conections were loose. when you turn on the right turn directional the front light would go out but the rear directional would work. listen closley behind the radio for a one click noise when you activate the right turn, and also a delay one click when you deactivate.

How do you change a 1968 firebird clutch?

I've never done this with the engine in the car, but I think this is how it should go. This applies to manual transmissions only.

(1) Remove the retainers on the yoke, at the rearend, that hold the drive line in place. Then push the drive line forward, move it out of the yoke, then pull it rearward out of the transmission.

(2) Support the rear of the engine so it can not rock backwards when the transmission is detached.

(3) Remove the shift lever and remove the two bolts that hold the transmission to the cross member.

(4) Remove the four bolts attacking the cross member to the frame. Rotate the cross member to remove. You may need to raise the rear of the engine slightly to take pressure off the cross member.

(5) Remove the four bolts attaching the transmission to the bell housing. Be sure to support the transmissions with a floor jack or something, they can be heavy. Then safely remove the transmission.

(7) Remove the spring and linkage connecting to the the throw out fork.

(8) Next remove the 6 bolts holding the bell housing to the rear of the engine, then remove the bell housing.

(9) Remove the bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel. You should now be able to remove the pressure plate and clutch disc.

(10) Install the new clutch disc with a line up shaft.

(11) Install the pressure plate and torque the bolts to the suggested torque. (Generally 25 to 40 ft-lbs.)

(12) You will probably want to replace the throw out bearing also while you have the bell housing removed.

(12) Remove the line up shaft, replace and secure the bell housing.

(13) Reconnect the clutch linkage and spring.

(14) The rest of the process is the reverse of removal.

Are firebird cars muscle cars or sport cars?

Depends of the year? Usually what differs a muscle car and a sports car(other than yr.) is handling. A Muscle car in the day was stop light to stop light, a sports car is more about handling back then.

Why does 1996 firebird turn over so long before it starts?

i have a '97 3.8 v6 which has problems turning over. i usually have to try like 3 or so times. i havent diagnosed exactly what it is ~ either the fuel pump, FPR, or hopefully just needs a new fuel filter. either way, there isn't enough pressure to pump in enough fuel to start the engine. try turning the ignition on and off a few times, you should hear like a humming noise coming from the pump, wait for that to stop before you turn it off again... if you do this and it starts with more ease than usual i would recommend looking into diagnosing the above. good luck.

Do they make kits for putting a small block Chevy in a 85 Nissan 300 zx or anything other engine swap?

No, unfortuently there are not any engine kits that I have seen avalible for the z31 300zx.

AnswerNot that I know of. Why would you go through all the work of putting a 350 in a Z31 when the VG30ET is said to be able to handle 400-500 horsepower stock and 500+ rebuilt?

Some reasons i can think of

availiblity of parts

cost of parts

aftermarket support

repair costs

swap cost

Although there is no kit, it would be fairly easy to install a small block in your Z31 ( which I'm assuming is N/A ) .

Issues that would arrise

oil pan clearance

Mounts

Rear end would need to be replaced ( oem rear ends aren't worth **** )

Custom Drive shaft

other small issues

I'm consindering a 350 in my 88 z31 n/a 2 seater . With a fair amount of knowledge of SBC's , i think this swap would be pretty straight forward , hardest part being the crossmember issue and wiring the ignition

ahem,

LS1 & transmission.

stand alone managment.

upgraded fuel pump.

upgraded fuel lines if it bottle necks (which it probly will)

engine and transmission mounts.

larger radiator (for the obvious reason)

and about the diff. weld it shut. it will last if you don't get serious traction off the line.

done.

good way to spend 12,000k.

6-7 for engine.

3-4 for and parts.

2-3 for labor.

about the VG. you are either HIGH if you honestly think that after a rebuild a VG will handle 500horses with boost reliably. or you have gratuitus amounts of money falling from your butt. 500 hp on a V8 street driven is too much for the street. and the torque you will create with an LS1 is driver friendly and easy to drive. you won't have to wind up the LS1 like you will with the VG. because the VG's torque will all be where the boost is, and we all know boost takes time. something we all are against.

Why was interchangeable parts so important?
