To remove the second gen f-body you have to first get under it remove the lower shroud. remove the four bolts in both fenders where they conect to the bumper. i have found that removing the head light assembly made it easier to reach the bolts. Remove the plate that hood latch is in. If you take the lower support off of it it comes all the way out. then remove the four bolts that hold the bumber to the frame rails. (four bolts in each fraim rail Eight total). then that bumper will come right off.

You have to go from the bottom. I just completed this task about a month ago and I will say that it was probably the hardest vehicle I have ever had to change sparkplugs on.

I believe edelbrock makes a selection of intake manifolds for the 4.9. I have a carb 4.9 in an 81, I'm thinking of getting one.
The 301 (4.9) Pontiac was pretty much a one off engine. To date, I know of no one that makes any type of performance intakes for it. Most people rip out the 301 and drop in a 350, 400...whatever.....since it will bolt right in. The only options you have is the factory 301 4bbl intake......or going to the T/A turbo unit.

It can be many things, but first comes in mind:
1. fuel filter ... if not replaced jet it's cheap to buy and easy to replace
2. cooped up throttle body ... pull it apart and wash everything that you find in there
It worked on my 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with 275000 miles on it.

replace the coils and the module, helped for my 98 firebird. parts for me were about 170 at napa and I know mechanics so labor was free. it's easy to install.
Another thing to do is replace the ignition control module. This can cause a random misfire if it is faulty or even if the wire harness going to it is not bolted tightly to it.
hey this is joey. replace the vacuum line for the egr gas return. i had the same problem and nearly got fustrated to the point of taking a sledge hammer to my car. i had replaced my ignition control unit. all three coils spark plugs and wires and still had the random misfire code. when i replaced the vacuum it cleared everything out and now my car is running like a dream. hopefully it will work for you too.
