Should thermostat be replaced at the same time as the intake manifold gasket is replaced?

Yes you should replace the thermostat now to insure trouble free operation afterwards, actually as long as the main bearings were not damaged from the intake leak, you should also replace the head gaskets at this time, use only felpro gaskets and you will have troublefree performance for years to come. These are good torquey engines, gm just went cheap on the gaskets when new

How do you repair a Pontiac Montana 2000 turn signal that just flashes quickly but doesn't alternate with the other bulb?

I take it the "doesn't alternate with the other bulb" refers to the one front side marker being weaker than the front facing indicator light when that turn signal is on.. There is a ground fault in one of your wire connections into your taillight. This will also manifest itself as dash blinkers coming on when the brake is applied, a flashing of all taillights when the blinker and brakes are activated at the same time or when the daytime running lights are on and one bulb doesn't lite. It is usually a connector for your rear light assembly. Remove the plug from the tail light assembly starting with the side that have the problem. You will find that the pin to your ground will have a blackish tint to the pin (on the brake light assembly). Clean this pin and the corresponding plug recepticle with a brush, nailfile, sandpaper, etc. I added a tiny piece of tin foil to the plug in the ground pin hole to ensure a tight connection. Plug in the unit while not installed and see if that eliminates the blinker lights from coming on on the dash when the brakes are applied and/or the blinker is on and your blinkers alternate normally on the front side and front markers.

Head lights wont come on on a 1999 Pontiac Montana what could be the answer the fuses have been check and the light bulbs?

I had a car that had a failed combination switch (the turn signal, hi-low beam, parking lights switch). I could get the lights to come on if I set the switch to high beam, but not low. A new switch and, viola! Verrry expensive to have dealer repair. If this is your problem, hopefully you have a mechanic friend.

Changing rear brake on 2005 Pontiac Montana sv6?

To change the brake pads on the rear ,you need to compress th piston in to get the brake pad on. this is not done the standard way. You need a special kit or piece that fits onto your ratchet because the piston actually screws in instead pushing it in . I did not know this and my friend and I spent an hour almost giving ourselves hernia's trying to get the piston in ,it would not budge, we thought the piston had seized. One we found out about this ratchet piece, we got one from a Canadian Tire here, but I'm sure many equpiment rental places carry them. (they ask for $100 deposit but there is no other charge) , it literally took 5 seconds with this piece to get the piston in and then it was very simple to put the pads on. This is only on the back brakes, the front are pretty standard, hope this helps

Where is the fuel level sensor located?

It's a small circuit board built on to the side of the fuel pump assy. It can be changed separately but it costs a fortune considering what it is. Around $80 if I remember correctly. Once you go to all of the trouble to get to it you may as well change the entire fuel pump assembly and get everything new. Those are a small fortune as well. The best price I found was frm www.gmpartsdirect.com and it was still around $300. You have to drain and drop the fuel tank to get it out. It isn't really much of a project if you've done much automotive work but it's not something for a complete novice either.

Where can you find a DIY repair manual for a 2002 Pontiac Montana?

Auto parts store. The Chiltons and Haynes manuals sold at Autozone, Pep Boys, etc. are of questionable value at best. Spend the extra money (or sometimes less; check eBay) and get the much more complete GM service manual for all "U" Platform vans. You will thank yourself. Sorry I can not find at any part stores a 2002 service manual. try this web site ,,it will cost a little but it is good info http://www.alldatadiy.com/
