Disconnect the battery. Make a drawing of the belt routing. locate the belt tensioner pully and release enough belt pressure so a cohort can remove the serpentine belt off the closest pully. Remove the bolted on battery cable and electrical plug from the alternator and the mounting bolts or remove the bolts so you can access the electrical connection. Remove the ALT. Reverse the procedure to install your new alt. You will have to move the tensioner again to get the belt back on that last pulley.

it is possible to make a snorkel for a 1996 Isuzu rodeo. most snorkels are home made by just extending the air intake through the fender of the car using PVC piping and what is called a "hat", which is the tip containing a filter to block debree and dirt. making a snorkel requirs alot of measuring.

Okay, here's the deal.......Remanufactured alternatrs are said to be a real waste of time and money. They have various different problems. Unless you can come by an OEM alternator, remove your old one, get it rebuilt at a shop that will do it, and go from there.

First, you gotta get under the car. Under the alternator is a horizontally-pointing bolt. You use that to adjust tension on the alternator belt, so loosen it up to the point where you can slide the belt off of the pulley. Then, you have to undo that little tensioner slide assembly so that it comes apart-check for the bolts attaching this assembly to the alternator and remove them. Finally, the pivot bolt on thetop of the alternator-remove it and the alternator is ready to come off. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY NEGATIVE PRIOR TO ALL OF THIS!!!!!!! also disconnect the leads to the alternator and it's free and clear. Take it to a shop, get it rebuilt, and go from there!

2. Take off belt tensioner (provides much more room to work with, I have big hands)

3. Unscrew cooling fan (bottom alternator bolt will not come out with fan in place)

4. Uncrew top and bottom bolts

5. Unscrew rear nut, detach clip.

6. Check which alternator you have, will most likely be a bosch 90amp or valeo 120amp.

7. Get new part and put it all back together.

The alternator must be removed either through the bottom of the vehicle, or threw the passanger side wheel well opening. Raise and support the vehicle. Disconnect the battery. Remove the serpentine belt by removing tention, and sliding it off. Under the car, disconnect the power wire using a 10MM socket. use a small screw driver and pry upwards on the electrical connector to remove quickly. remove both the Lower and Upper mounting bolts. in some cases, the upper bolt can be more easily accessed from under the hood. once the mounting bolts are moved, some prying, or wiggleing of the alternator may be necessary to free it from the bracket. Installation is just opposite. should take a novice around 30-45 minuites to complete the job.

The location of the first formal Rodeo is debated. Deer Trail, Colorado claims the first rodeo in 1869 but so does Cheyenne, WY in 1872. Although steer riding contests existed into the 1920s, the sport did not gain popularity until bulls were returned to the arena and replaced steers as the mount of choice.

I beg you, take it to a mechanic. Me and me friends tryed this, we took off the radiator, horn, hood latch, oil cooler, fans, and A/C compressor, and discovered there is no detentioner, I finally gave up and took it to the mechanic. It took a week, and I wished i just had a mechanic do it in the first place. -- no need to remove the radiator, horn, hood latch, oil cooler, fans, and A/C compressor. What is causing most of the confusion is the lack of a quality service manual for this car. to remove the altenator. You remove the front pass. tire, and the plastic cover that protects the main pulley. (10mm bolts) put the front tire under the car to protect yourself.** I didn't remove the tire, I just turned the wheel outward so I could fit in there. If I had to do over, I would've removed the tire.

Right behind and above the oil filter is the tensioner pulley and bolt (14 mm). loosen that bolt quite a bit. (about an inch) and rotate the tensioner hub and it'll loosen right up. ** this bolt is well hidden. You need to find the tensioner hub, then slide your hand under and a little behind it and you'll find the tensioner bolt. Or use a mirror to find it. It is literally right behind that tensioner hub with the head of the bolt pointed towards the ground. Once you loosen this you'll be in great shape. (Note: this is only accessible through the wheel well, not from above.

remove the engine cover. 6 10mm bolts. (replace the oil fill cap) pull the left side fan. (two 10mm bolts) and a plug. unplug the alternator, and undo the main cable. (10mm nut) remove the bolt that connects the bracket to the engine, just loosen the other bolt so it'll swing up. (I think these are 12mm bolts).

loosen the nuts on the alternator. remove the bolts (have fun trying to get the rear bolt, you can just tap it and it'll fly out. 12m. ** reinstallation of this part was the most time consuming and irritating. Fitting your hand behind the alternator and lining everything up is terrible. Just have patience, you'll get it done. Afterall, you got it apart, right?

remove the alternator ,pry gentle back and forth and up and down until it separates from the front mount. remove the front bracket (two 12mm bolts) Then gentle coax the alternator up and out. you'll have to rotate and twist it, it'll scrap against the radiator a little. It was not my first time working on this car, and I'd say it was challenging. took me about 2 hours total. some of that was finding the right socket or wrench-rachet and determining if I should be on my back or over the hood. Second contributor on 5/8/09: Instructions were very good. I would say that putting on the bottom bolt is a 2 person job. Also, new alternator paperwork said it had a different pulley diameter and to get a 47" belt. However, a new 48" belt did work.

The alternator is located on the passenger side of the engine near the bottom. I found it is easiest to remove it from inside the wheel well. There should be 2 bolts holding it to the alternator bracket that mounts to the block. Unbolting the alternator and them disconnecting the wires running to it is easiest. Installation is the reverse of the removal.

take a 3/8" ratchet, insert it into the square piece of the tension pulley till it loosens the belt enough to slip it off the pulley for the alternator, take out the bolts holding the alternator to the bracket, unplug the wires, and reverse to put new one on.
