How do you install a transmission in a 1998 Saturn SL2?

Take it to your local transmission shop Seriously though, I have been told that you have to pull the motor to do it, but that you can just take off the bottom motor mount, and place a life under the motor and slowly drop it to get to it too...I just got frustrated with trying to figure it out and took mine to the shop and got the clutch done too.

1998 Saturn SL 2 Coolant light keeps blinking but there is enough coolant in the car The temperature gauge typically goes close to the hot sidenot all the way. Should I be concerned?

Check the coolant expansion tank (reservoir), a white plastic tank on the left engine compartment, most likely behind the wiper fluid container, above the passenger tire wheel well. Check coolant levels. If there is proper coolant levels, then there isn't any leaks. The indicator light blinks and the car over heats then it is most likely your water pump. Lucky for you, Saturn builds good cars with easy accessibility. Get a Haynes repair manual. It'll tell you how to test your water pump and remove and install it. I used it to replace the water pump on my 1994 SL1 for the same problem you are having. Good luck.

Your Saturn is stuck in reverse Could it be the clutch linkage?

There isn't any linkage, it has a cable, check to see if the cable is loose. There is a U clip that holds the cable in place,if the U clip is in place and there isn't any slack in the cable, it could be your tranny. Is the clutch disengaging? If when you push the clutch in the engine can be turned over or the car can be pushed, it is not a problem with the clutch.

Where is fuel regulator on a 2000 Saturn S?

It is underneath the engine. Put the car on jack stands, unbolt the fuel fiter / fuel regulator assembly, unclip the fuel line bundle from its retainer (be careful not to damage the retainer), disconnect the lines from the unit as you remove it (the plastic fuel line retainers must be replaced when reassembling, installation is the reverse of the above. Hope this helps.

How do you change transmission fluid in 1999 Saturn SW2?

You can easily change some of the fluid by removing the transmission oil pan; just make certain that you have something that is large enough to catch the fluid.

However, if you want to fully change the fluid, you need to pump it through the valve body and torque converter, using some very expensive equipment.

What are the timing chain markings for a 1997 Saturn SL1?

There should be a hole in the camshaft that aligns with a hole in the head. That locks the camshaft to #1TDC. Then manually turn the crankshaft until the #1 piston is at TDC. Then install the head and timing chain.

2000 windstar V6 and am removing the water pump but of the 9 mounting bolts there are 5 studs and there is not enough clearance to the frame to remove the pump even after with the pully loose?

Haynes manual for 2000 Windstar 3.8 liter V6 says the engine mounts must be unbolted and the engine raised three inches with a hoist. or you can remove one of the top studs on the side towards the front of the car its screws out, not easy. get the other backside of the water pump clear of the studs, you should be able to get the back side of the pump clear and it will swing up, and pull it out. being that you took a stud out on the front there are only two you should be able to maneuver it out. you can get it out that way but i must say its a little tricky.

What does a Blinking temperature light mean?

Had that happen on my 94 SL2 when the ex drained and refilled the cooling system, and didn't run the car until warmed with the expansion tank cap off. The dash light started blinking, and the car overheated once. There was an air pocket in the system. Solved by running the car until warmed up with the cap off, and it burped, out went the light. If that isn't the problem, it could be a faulty CTS (coolant temperature sensor). Are there any other symptoms? Does the car overheat? Is it low on coolant? Is the gauge reading low?
