Timing and Firing Orders

I believe that is ( 6 degrees BTDC for a manual transmission ) and ( 12 degrees BTDC for an automatic transmission ) on a 1965 Ford Mustang 200 straight 6 cylinder

Inline 6 cylinder 2 stroke? That is a rare engine indeed. It for sure is not a Ford engine which is the category you listed this question in. What is this engine installed in?

Line up the marks on the gears with the off colored links on the timing chain.

The firing order is ( 1 - 5 - 4 - 2 - 6 - 3 - 7 - 8 )

The distributor rotor turns COUNTERCLOCKWISE

The marked # 1 position on the distributor cap faces to the REAR and slightly towards the drivers side

The engine cylinder / spark plug locations are numbered :

if it's a 6 cyl it's 153624

Check with the dealer but I am quite sure that this is an interference engine meaning when the cam belt breaks, the valves bend.

No. You will no longer be getting the correct voltage to the appliance. It should be replaced before using again.

The firing order should be 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.

The Ford 5.0 liter ( High Output ) 302 cubic inch V8 engine firing order is :

( 1 - 3 - 7 - 2 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 8 )

correct firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6 front to rear on the left(driver side) are 2-4-6 front to rear on the right side 1-3-5

There should be a sticker under the hood that tells you. If you've got a 3 cylinder, it's a 1.0. The 1.3 is a four cylinder. If you can't find the spec, call Autozone and they can tell you. computer controlled not adjustable

u can call your local parts store they will give it to you

i recently rebuilt the engine in my 96 gmc and removed the distributor with out marking it. i tried to drop it it one # 1 top dead center like and old 350 but it did not work. you will have to take it to a gmc dealer the timing has to be set with a computer that it is hooked up to it cost me 300 dollars to fix it after messing with it for awhile i gave up and took it to them.

On the 96's everything you did was correct. Double check the #1 is at top position and cresting to drop. 2) make sure the ECM is disconnected this should fire if all plugs and wires are correct. The dealer is to expensive and I can walk you threw it. The manufacturer will preset at 0 TDC then they will adjust per computer as the asthmatic pressure is at its peak. If you can rebuild the engine you can solve this issue with out a dealer. A timing light. Check all the basics on this to verify fuel, air is working.

Firing order of the Slant 6 is 1-5-3-6-2-4

on a 3 liter it's 1-4-2-5-3-6

Twist and pull with pliers.

When viewed from the top, the distributor rotor in the 4.9L I6 engine turns clockwise.
