The Toyota Celica is a peaky sports car. Most of its torque starts at about 4500 RPM. This means that all of its REAL acceleration comes out at the high RPMs of 4500 - 6000. However revving a regular car at such high RPMs is a bad idea if you want it to last, the Celica is ment for these high revs (THAT DOES NOT MEAN REDLINE THE CAR). Most sport cars need to be "kept in shape" with the occasional high revving. Although, automatic trannies work on friction, so I would suggest not doing this often unless you have a manual transmition. And although the Celica does get its acceleration "late in the game" it is more of a rally car than a dragster by all means. It is ment to take fast corners and down shift to pass. Not to mention it gets GREAT fuel Economy of about 34 miles per gallon! But I've gotten off course alittle here. My point is, The Celica is a sports car, that can be driven in a sporty manner. Dont be affraid of high RPMs. I believe that was the answer to your question... if you call that a question anyways (seems more like a statement)... unless you mean the car revs high WHILE you shift.... then I would suggest you take your foot off the acclerator when you depress the clutch... Just kidding.

Clicking can mean a loose connection between battery and starter. Follow wire to starter and clean/tighten connector at starter.

They have a timing chain, which you probably will never have to be replaced.

it's easy to find as i have the same type of car (not a gts) and searched when my cigarette lighter went out. it is on the passengers side on the right side of the console next to the cigarette lighter area. there is a small pull off panel (mine has small perforated holes on the panel) pull that off and you will see the whole fuse box. underneath the pull off panel shows the diagram and each fuse going where and the capacity it takes. it's a snap once you know it's there! good luck!

A sweet smell is usually coolant being burned, check your coolant level and oil ( look for milky appearance ) as it may be a head gasket leak.

A coolant leak on the outside of the motor may indicate a leak somewhere in the radiator or one of the hoses.

There are several signs that an alternator is going bad. A few signs are dim lights, smell, warning lights, and a dead battery.

The fuse box for the window and locks is behind the coin holder. It's kinda hidden behind the air conditioner tubing. Hope this helps!!!!

You can find the flter box in front of the box that says "do not open" the top is held in place by three clips and you clip them off first, them prise the front parts slightly with a screwdeiver, undo the big jubilee clip first on the intake pipe, the filter is then accessable.

Japanese auto makers do not make them for the US because they fail to meet the DOT standards. The cars that they do release in the US are DOT approved. Cars in ASIA are very diffrent than in the US not in relation to size or motors or what not but wheight. They do not build there cars to stand crashes like the US auto makes do.

Just go to a parking lot on a rainy day go above about 40 and slam on the brakes. If you skid you dont have antilock brakes, if you hear that grinding noise that kinda skips and you slow down but dont slid you do.

Get 2 #168 bulbs then open the hatch. Look on the passenger side for the inset handle remove the screw and the plastic piece comes off. Then pry off the plastic cover. The bulb holders are up in two cutouts behind the license plate. Unplug the connector by squeezing and pulling it out. Then turn the bulb holder counter clockwise (I did it by pushing the connector piece up and it popped out). Replace the bulb, then the holder, then replug the wire. Test then re-assemble. P.S. Don't drop the connector when you try to re-install it is a pain to get out of the bottom of the hatch!!!!!!

The red knob near the gear stick on a Celica is the Hazard Flasher switch. If a person needs to stop along a busy highway or is traveling very slow in traffic it is a good idea to turn the Hazard Flashers on to warn other drivers.
