To remove the serpentine belt use a 1/2" breaker bar to rotate the tensioner upward off the serpentine belt while removing the belt from the pulleys. When installing the new belt make sure the belt is aligned properly in the grooves of the accessory pulleys(or the costly new belt will be shredded when the engine starts). Install the serpentine belt under the tensioner pulley by rotating the tensioner upward with the 1/2" drive breaker bar. When the breaker bar is released the tensioner will keep the belt properly tensioned.

First suggestion, if you've got the time, and 20 bucks for your cars manual, doing disc brake replacement is painfully simple. But to answer the question - try spraying some brake system cleaner on the suspected components... NO LUBRICANTS. If that's not it- you can also try having your rotors resurfaced... but usually not worth it for just a concern of noise. Also - certain brake types (ie. semi-metallic, ceramic) will be more vocal than others.

yes... your local auto parts store should have a product you can put on the back (where the pads touch the caliper) to stop the noise.

If these are new brake pads the glaze is from the heads of the staples your mechanic hammered into your brake pads. Over time this will wear off leaving just the legs of the staples to gouge your disks so that you need expensive disk replacement as well as pads next time. Likely you just had the front pads replaced, but you will find the most staples in the rear pads, that way you get the full four disk replacement treatment next time.

ALWAYS buy copper ceramic brake pads, these are more difficult to sabotage and the mechanic cannot say the steel bits are part of the semi-metalic brake pads. ANY mechanic that REFUSES to install copper ceramic brake pads is not one you want to touch your car EVER. To replace your brake pads yourself you will need to buy short lengths of gas pipe at your hardware store to extend your wrench. (Which will void your wrench warrantee, etc.) You will find the lug nuts so over tightened that the nuts are partially stripped. The two bolts holding the brake assembly on will also be over torqued but these are tougher metal, the manufacturer tends to get sued if these bolts fail.

The easiest answer is to take it to your trusted mechanic. I have been in the business for years and seen plenty of glazed brakes. The honest truth is that using a semi metalic pad on metal rotors causes that problem. Having the conspiracy theory that someone actually hammered staples or that you should only use highline expensive pads is ridiculous. With a semi metalic pad they are cost efective. If you feel that you should spend the money great but they do not offer any more safety than reg semi metalic pads. Again trust you repair shop or do the work your self.

Remove pads and scuff with ruff sand paper. Apply small amount of "brake grease" on tips of pads back plate {not on face pads} and on piston/pad contact area. Also on slide pins on the brake caliper. Do not get grease on brake pads front or an rotors. Lightly grease please!

If they still squeal try this: Remove grease first--Theres a rubber coating for brake piston/pad contact area you can get at any parts store and this has to dry after applying before you complete assembly. It more expensive than grease so try grease first.

If you KNOW that the converter IS the problem then 'yes' it should be replaced. To continue to run with it in this condition will result in eventual damage to the engine. If you can find one at an auto salvage yard it would be your cheapest fix, with the understanding that you are buying a "pig in a poke" and the one you buy there might be just as bad, or nearly as bad, as the one you're replacing. ON THE OTHER HAND - it has been known for people with this problem to simply remove the faulty converter and replace it with a length of exhaust pipe. The previous answer was a bit of a dick answer. There are three screws. You have to pull out the front cup holder and remove that screw (might take some work as mine had some glue on the end of it). Then remove the rubber bottom of the back cup holder and remove those two screws (torx screws, so you have to have the right tool). After that, you can pull the console out.

This actually is an extremely easy job, and can be done in less than 5 minutes. Remove the oval shaped cover plate just in front of the guage cluster, using a small flat object to pry it up. Reach into the hole that was covered and gently pull up and away from the dashboard. The cover will come off. There are two nuts, one on either side of the instrument cluster, that remove with a 10mm socket (or a Philips screwdriver on older models). Once these are out, simply gently pull the cluster out and turn it over so you can see the back side of the bulbs (or in older models, release the snap-on cover plate to reveal the bulbs which are accessible on the front side of the panel). Do NOT unplug any of the wiring. Locate which bulb(s) that are not working, and gently "unscrew" the bulbs about 1/4 to 1/2 turn with a screwdriver (or in older models gently pull bulbs straight out with long nose pliers). These bulbs are about 2 inches long, and cost between $5 and $10 at your Toyota dealer (on older models the bulbs are less than 1 inch long, approximately 1/4 inch in diameter and cost between $1 and $2 at a Toyota dealer). Put in the new bulb and put her all back together. Very simple!

You have to loosen the bolt on the top of the engine under the a/c line. It�s a 14mm bolt and you need a long extension to get to it. Then I suggest jacking up the car to get under it and the middle is a tension pulley and you have to loosen that and it also is a 14mm I think. A long box wrench works the best to get it loose. Then you can take the belt off. I am not sure how to do the power steering belt that is what I was looking for help with. To change the power steering belt 1st you need to have the A/C, alternator belt off as described above. I recommend removing the passenger front tire and safely block the car up. To the left of the power steering pump is a long bolt running up and down with the head on the bottom of the bolt. Up toward the top is a small bolt that needs to be lossened. I believe it is a 12 mm head. Once that is loosened then turn the bolt head that is on the bottom of the long bolt counter(also 12mm) clockwise till it pulls the P/S pump upward and loosens the belt. Replace the belt and reverse the procedure to tighten the new belt up.
