Why does your 89 Toyota pickup not have spark at distributor?
Check the pickup inside the distributor and see if its OK. Do you have spark at the ignition coil? Check the wires. Or the cap and rotor assy.
I had a similar experience on my 57 Chevy back in the 60's.
1. CheckFuse Panel fuse under Brake Lights. 2. Check bulbs High Beam filaments. 3. Withrunning lights on tap tail lights to check for wire grounding shorts. 4. Check flasher to see that the lights work. 5. This is what I discovered to be wrong: Look under Brake Pedal for the Brake Relay Switch button. It works in reverse like the button on a refrigerator or vehicle door. When the button is pressed in by the brake pedal it opens the circuit to the High Beam of the brake/running tail lights. If working by hand but not by the brake adjust it. If not working replace it. It is the Brake Lights Relay Switch.
On the plastic screen to the dash, there will be a little circular 'port' between the speedo and RPM gauges. Open the port, stick a thin skewer into this hole and press the button behind the screen. The timing light will reset, and won't come on again until your tacho reaches the next 100,000K's division. Hope this helps.
my labor guide calls for 9.5 hrs if its non efi, 10.1 hrs if its 2wd with efi, and 12.7 hrs if its 4wd with efi. find out your shops labor rate and thatll give you the cost for labor. you still need to add for parts and whatever else they may charge, tax ect.

How do you replace the fuel filter located on a 1993 Toyota truck 4 cylinder?
Go to the link for Auto Zone on the right for the instructions.
I did this last night and it took me about 3 hours. You will need some 12mm, 14mm, and 17mm wrenches and sockets, and a couple of long extensions for your socket. Disconnect your battery, remove the front passenger tire, and then disconnect your power cable on the starter (12mm nut). Remove the starter (one 14mm bolt on bottom, one 14mm nut on top). You'll probably have to use your extensions to get that top nut off. Then take the banjo nuts off the filter, let it drain a minute, and unbolt it from the engine. Put the new one in, tighten the banjo nuts with a torque wrench to 22lbs, and start reassembling everything. Assembly goes a lot faster than disassembly. Keep in mind that this thing is in the worst possible position, and there is no way for you to reach anything, fit your hand where it needs to go, and is a giant contortion act from beginning to end. I hope the sorry Japanese engineer that came up with this idiotic configuration reads this and commits seppeku, or at least gets some bad fugu.
The Haynes manual I have for the 1993 Toyota pickup instructs one to remove the wiring harness from the fuel pump in order to depressurize the fuel pump before changing the filter. I could not seem to detach these wires and am guessing the removal of the battery terminals would be in lieu of this procedure. Still I'm concerned that the fuel lines might have considerable pressure in the lines despite the pump being disconnected from it's power supply.
Where is the air-conditioning air filter on a 1991 Toyota truck?
As far as I know there is a filter on the grille inside the box where the air con blower fan is located, on the passenger seat side, the whole unit is below the dash. If you are not familiar with this unit then you probably need a diagram, or take your time to do this slowly. The filter may be washed in mild soap water.

YOU MUST REMOVE THE EVAPERATOR CASE FROM INSIDE THE TRUCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND YOU WILL SEE THE EXPANSION VALVE.
How do you change a thermostat in a 91 Toyota pickup?
Drain radiator. Trace your lower radiator hose back to where it mounts to engine. Inside that housing is the thermostat. Remove lower radiator hose. Unbolt the housing (you'll need to pry it off because off the sealant used in installation) and pull out the thermostat. Note orientation of themostat inside housing. Clean off all traces of old gasket material. Make new gasket with RTV gasket goop, using a thin bead. Installation is reverse of removal.

How do you check for or repair a minor AC freon leak on a 1988 Toyota Pickup?
You can purchase a HFC detection tool from MAC OR SNAP ON and what you do is wave the wand around the fittings where there is a connection with o rings and it will sound off and get louder if it detects the hfc out of freon leaking out from connections or if you have a really bad leak take a hospitial stethascope they use to check your heart with pull out round end end insert a small metal tube in it and go around all the fittings. you should be able to hear a leak then, but when it gets that bad you should be able to see it also you can spray a mixture of soapy dishwashing liquid with water around joints and see leaks or just go to auto parts store and buy all new o rings to match each fitting and replace them all but that requires removal and teardown of AC SYSTEM you do not want to let freon out into the air its illeagle and dangerous so just take it to a proffessional

How do you drain fuel in a Toyota Previa?
Buy a syphon kit at hardware store or Wal-Mart
The fuel tank is located on the left side of the vehicle with the front end about even with the back of the drivers seat. About 12 inches from the end of the tank on toward the back of the van you will find a plug in the bottom of the fuel tank that can be removed to drain the fuel tank. I think it is takes about a 17MM wrench.
Do a tune up. New spark plugs work wonders. EGR exhaust gas return valve maybe stuck open, or the cold start injector may be stuck open (flooding the engine). Inspect your plugs if they look ok, they probably are unless they are over about 35K miles, check the wires too, pull one off at a time and ground it out to something metal on the engine, if you see it ark it's ok move on to the next if not replace it. Heat and stress can break down the wires.
How do you turn off the battery light on 89 Toyota pickup?
I am wondering why you would want to turn that off as it is a safety indicator. Is it on all the time? The alternator may be malfunctioning or the alternator belt may be broken. But removing the light bulb from its socket is of course possible, although I would never do that. You do this by removing the part of the dashboard where the instruments are located, requires a diagram or know-how in order to do it right.
