How do you adjust 22r valve lash?

You need a "feeler gauge" and a wrench to do this. They say to adjust the valves with the engine fully warmed up. So drive it around for 30 minutes before starting this adjustment. Set the crankshaft on TDC and you can adjust half of the valves. Rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees and you can adjust the rest. If the spec is say .025 get that thickness feeler gauge ready. If you do not have an .025 gauge a .012 and .013 together is just as good or a .020 and a .005 will work. Slip the gauge in between in rocker arm and the valve stem. If you cannot do this the valve is too tight. To do it correctly you move the feeler gauge back and forth while turning the adjusting nut slightly until you begin to feel resistance in the gauge. you want some resistance, enough so that you can move the gauge back and forth without too much effort, but not to where you cannot move it at all or to where you can move it freely. Hence the name feeler gauge as you feel how the gauge passes in between the rocker are and valve stem. Once you have it where you like it, tighten the lock nut to spec's. Once the lock nut is tight, you must recheck the valve clearance to make sure nothing changed while setting the lock nut. If it feels the same as before move on to the next valve. If it feels loose or if you cannot get the gauge back in, you must start over. Loose valves will make noise, tight valves will destroy an engine. Do it correctly or pay the price.

Will a 1982 22r engine fit in my 1987 4x4?

Shouldn't be a problem, you will probably need to change the oil pan and pickup tube.

How do you replace the fuel filter located on a 1993 Toyota truck?

How do you replace a headlamp bulb on a 04 Toyota Rav 4?

I assume it's the same as on my 2000 RAV4 and it was actually very easy. Bulbs were under $10 at local auto parts store.

Make sure you have the lights OFF - these bulbs are VERY hot (experience talking).

Lift the hood, directly behind the headlight bracket, there are 2 cables going into the headlight assembly. Follow that cable to the headlight assembly and there is a plastic "base" turn that base slightly and it will pop out. Trying to not touch the glass, push in on the clip below the light (near the bottom of the base). Slowly pull the bulb assembly out and put the new one in making sure that one seats and the clip pops back up. Good luck.

Can you check Toyota check engine codes without special tools?

Depends on the year...if it's an OBD1 car (typically before 1996) you can manually access the codes and find out what they are by watching the "check engine" light blink. If it's an OBD2 car, then no...you have to have a code reader. The good news is that many auto parts stores will read the codes for you for free. Just be careful listening to their diagnosis.

Toyota truck oil is leaking trugh water pump?

If oil is floating also on top of the radiator water? Wait until it's cool enough to remove the cap, though it will say do not remove. The overflow bottle, if it's easy to see into, may also have floating oil. If oil is in all the water, not just coming out of the pump, I'm afraid the block is cracked, my man. $5000. There is a bright side, though. The gasket under the water pump could feasibly be screwed somehow, allowing the oil flow to mix with the water. Either way, take it to a Toyota dealer. Those guys gain nothing by saying it's a cracked block, whereas a "shade tree " mechanic could say cracked block, then make $5000 for cleaning your engine and replacing a gasket!!

NOOOOOOO------That could be the case---but another notoriously unknown issue is the timing chain------the guards break somehow and the chain rubs through into the water pump---if thyere's oil in the water and water in the oil--- that's your issue......(might be)

hopefully not your head...then you're done.

pull the timing cover and check for a groove the chain may have made--- if so, you're looking at a measly $20-$30 Fix.

Fixed mine with JB Weld and new chain and guards----hasn't falied in five years...LOL

On 22R/RE engines 9 Times out of 10 its the timing chain has became loose and rubbed through the timing cover and caused oil to leak through the water pump and into the cooling system. STOP DRIVING IT NOW!

This can also go the other way and have water in the oil that looks like milk in the engine. {flush motor when done} It can also be in both places, oil radiator/water in oil. STOP RUNNING MOTOR!!!

Heres why,

22r/22re motors {ARE} interference engines.

Meaning if the timing chain slips off the gears {very comon}or breaks {breaks are rare}either one will destroy the engine. Replace your timing chain and repair or replace your timing cover and all will be well again. Parts are a couple hundred because if you have over 140,000 mi go ahead and replace oil and water pump since your there. At least the oil pump at min. Labor depends on how machanical you are or who you know? ENGNBLDR.COM has a great kit. He knows Toys too.

Chains loosen by stretching over miles and/or chain tensioner sticking is very comon and chain loses tension usually causing the chains guide on the driver side to break and allowing chain to slap around and rub on the timing cover causing it to rub a hole inside it. It is all repairable and normal issues for high milage 22r engines. Main thing and most important is STOP RUNNING THE ENGINE TILL FIXED. It will Destroy the motor!!!!

How do you treat a burn with a first aid kit?

With any first aid situation, assess the scene make sure it is safe. Then start the primary survey as follows...

ABC's:

Airway

Breathing

Circulation

Firstly, run the burn under cool water for 15 minutes. Do not put ice on it, for it may cause tissue damage.

In the first aid kit, (or some of them anyways) you will find dressing specifically for burns. Never use gauze, or toilet paper. This will stick to the burn. You may want to wet the bandages or dressings before applying. Apply securely on the burn, call for medical help.
Put a very cold ice bag or cold cloth over the burn(s) and have the person rest for a few hours. Put some Aquaphor (petroleum jelly) AROUND the wound to soothe it.

Alternate Advice (A little gruesome for the squeamish, but it's a gruesome topic...if easily upset stop reading NOW.)

Use COOL sterile water, not ice bags, to gently flush the burn, to literally bring the temperature of the burned area down so the physical burning stops. Just like a steak will continue to cook from residual heat when taken off a BBQ grill, so will your flesh if the burn is from heat such as a flame. Then LIGHTLY put sterile dressing gently over the burn, to help shield the burn area from air flow, which can causes additional pain. In extreme cases you might pour some sterilized water over the sterile dressing for partial temporary pain release (to some minor degree. ) Seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Do NOT use "a very cold" ice bag: You can actually cause MORE damage to the area by 'freezing' it, and accidently causing frostbite on top of your burn.

Keep all additives such as petroleum jelly or butter away from the burnt area. In the case of a severe burn, hospital personnel will have to remove any foreign matter from the burn area to help prevent infection. If you have put petroleum jelly (or butter!) onto the burnt area, this may cause much additional pain as the medical professionals later need to scrub the area to remove the ointments! This is also why you only lightly cover the burn area...putting a tight bandage on will only increase the pain when medical professionals have to remove it to further render treatment.

Note medical advice has changed in this matter over the years. When growing up in the 50's I had a red cross first aid book that recommended putting butter directly on a burn area to "sooth" it. By the 70's when i attended multiple first aid training classes, the newer releases of the same red cross first aid book strongly advised AGAINST putting any ointment (petroleum jelly, butter, other) on a burn.

If your burn is just reddening or minor blisters, you may be ok treating it yourself. If you have broken blisters or actually burnt skin, you really need to seek professional treatment as quickly as possible!

I have put this advice to personal use: I suffered small surface 2nd degree burns on my hands while winter camping in the middle of Nevada desert when a lit stove fell and by instinct I reached out to grab it. (Not the best of instinctive reactions!)(I was in the Humboldt Sink, hours from Fallon and the nearest hospital.) Following the advice listed above got me through the process without any downstream complications...I was lucky, but I also knew enough NOT to use "ice" or "salves", and to only loosely cover the area and not tightly bandage it. Admittedly my burns were 2nd degree on only a few square inches of skin on 3 fingers. (It still hurt like hell.)

How do you fix P1155 error code AF Ratio sensor in a Toyota RAV4 2003?

Bank 2 sensor 1 Air fuel sensor heater circuit. This sensor is NOT an O2 sensor, though it operates like one and in the same location(in exhaust stream). Basically the PCM detected that the heater circuit was drawing excessive amperage or no amperage. Usually it's a bad a/f sensor and replacing it will fix it, however, it doesn't rule out the possibility of damaged wiring or an open in the power or ground circuit, or a short in the power or ground circuit.

What is the wheelbase of a 1988 Toyota truck?

Do you not own a tape measure? A yard stick? A ruler? A piece of string? Anything that can be used to answer this burning question. Got a library in your town. If you would put as much effort in finding the answer, as you do with asking the questions, you would already have the answer. One thing you do not want to do, is to buy a book that covers 1988 Toyota pickup's as then you would have no excuse for posting questions about nothing. They actually give people like this drivers license's? What a waste of paper.

WERE IS THE Ignition igniter for Toyota truck?

Igniter is sitting on top of the driver's side fender, inside the engine compartment. Follow the high capacity wire from the distributer to the ignition coil. Four screws attach the ignition coil (cylindrical part) to the igniter (metal, square-shaped item). This could vary depending on the model year. Autozone has an excellent picture of the igniter on their site to help you identify it.
