Turbo and Superchargers

Turbo and superchargers are engine components that pump pressurized air into the engine via a compressor. Their function is to increase the power generated by the engine by providing it with increased air pressure inside the cylinders.

What oil weight is reommended for a 2003 dodge ram 1500 5.7 liter?

Oil weighs about 6.34 pounds per gallon. The w doesn't stand for weight it stands for "winter blend" and you Ram calls for 5w30. You can use 10w30 or 10w40 if you like but the manufacturer suggests 5w30.

What is the advantage and disadvantage of blower?

defference between a blower and a turbo charger when installed in a petrol engine

What is difference between turbo non turbo engine in diesel car?

Turbo diesel - a idesel engine with a turbocharger to increase engine performance. Most of the time used to increase power which reduces fuel economy. In some cases, the gain of power sometimes grants the gain of fuel economy by added exhaust gas back pressure. Back pressure on exhaust increases the amount of exhausted gas returns through an EGR system (exhausted gas return) which gives more exhaust to the intake to lower the oxygen content which lowers the amount of injected fuel for high fuel savings. This is generally a gas engine concept but newer 2004+ diesel engines will tend to have this system as more and more electronic control is pioneered into diesel engines.

Non-turbo - also known as naturally aspirated engines. This is an engine that uses no Turbo. Most vehicles are this way unless they have special model trims that have Turbo package options.

Where can you find a 2 2l engine for an 88 200sx turbo?

Hmm..

I'm assuming you are outside the United States due to the fact that in the US, Turbo Model 200sxs were discontinued at the end of 86.

There is no popular 2.2L Turbo Engine that I know of that works good with an S12 200sx.

Popular Swaps are

SR20DET (2L 4-cylinder Dual overhead cam Fuel Injected Turbo Charged Engine)

CA18DET (1.8L 4-cylinder Dual overhead cam Fuel Injected Turbo Charged Engine)

KA24DE (2.4L 4-cylinder Dual overhead cam Fuel Injected Naturally Aspired Engine)

How do you remove a eaton m90 supercharger from a 3800?

Need to remove,

engine cover

throttle body/intake

drive belt

fuel lines

pcv valve hose

spark plug wires for rear bank

than you should be able to unbolt the supercharger

Is it possible to supercharge a fiat punto gt turbo?

Ha ha yes if you have a lot of money and you have no fear of your driveshafts

disintegrating when you put the pedal to the metal.

My opinon get her chipped upgrade the ecu set of iridium plugs and to top it all of a front mount intercooler this will be cheaper and up your horsies and top end speed

What is supercharged engine?

Supercharging is not the same as turbocharging your engine.

A turbocharger is driven by a belt and sucks in air by 2 big rotors inside.

The air gets compressed and than cooled down in the intercooler.

The difference is that with a supercharger you do not have tubo-lag because it's direct driven by a belt and a turbo needs to spool up before it can give you some extra power.

How can you make a 49cc moped faster?

Hi different mopeds have different parts.

In my eyes the best moped to tune is Yamaha aerox as you can get amazing parts for these but at a price!

But your basic tuning is easy

*70cc big bore kit

*Performance exhaust ( Stage6 or Leo vince tt = less money )

*New air filter ( Stage6 )

*Bigger rollers ( Malossi or polini ) or you can go for the hole thing ( Variator kit also cut a hole in this this will help )

*Big/stronger belt (Malossi, polini, stage6)

*Boost bottle ( Doppler )

*New sparkplug run a colud one and then run a hot one see what one runs better on your bike.

They are your basic you can spend more e.G. crank shaft

need to no anymore?

What does a intercooler do for a cars engine?

it cools the air compressed by the turbo from the turbo to the intake for better performance and maximum horsepower

What is the largest turbo you can put on a 6.2L diesel?

It really depends on how much power you want(boost level and lbs/min of air needed) and what the motor can handle. The most extreme diesels(sled pull trucks) run compound turbos (the compressed air out of 1 turbo going into the intake of the 2nd/3rd turbo) with upwards of 100+psi of boost.

Can you convert the engine on the 280zx Non turbo to a Skyline GT R Twin turbo engine?

convert no!!! swap yes!!! You can use the rb26dett (thats the only twin turbo the skyline has) You can not use the tranny from the rb26dett(GTR)because it is AWD the rb25det can also be used(not a twin turbo) You would have to use the sr20det tranny or the tranny from a GTS also a skyline and some different motor mounts and a drive shaft but yes it can be done.

Does premium fuel really matter?

Only to engines that require it. If you drive a car that requires premium fuel, you will know about it from the owner's manual. BMW, Audi, Acura, etc... All high tech car manufacturers have developed engines that need high octane fuel, same for motorcycles, if you run it with regular you will "clog" your system, you will get poor fuel mileage, you can do the comparison, but in the end, the money you save on regular gas will go into the garage bill for the damage it did. if the car maker tells you the octane level needed for your engine, you better believe them, the compresssion ratio has an important part to do in the fuel octane needed too .

Answer

Or, on the other hand, many non high-end vehicle manufacturers specifically recommend regular 87 octane fuel saying that higher octane fuels can damage sensors and hinder emission controls. The Owner's Manuals for both my 2002 Grand Caravan and 2002 Dakota, specifically mention this.

Bottom line: Check your owner's manual or with your dealer, and use the recommended grade, whether it's premium, mid-grade, or regular unleaded fuel.

Can you fit a BOV into a non-turbo car?

BOV's (blow-off valve) are to prevent too much positive pressure from entering the engine due to boost build-up and to releave back pressure from re-entering the Engine. A non-turbo car cannotuse a "BOV" since there is no turbo and/or positive pressure present in the intake manifold. This is STRONGLY not recommended, on NON-Turbo cars. As there is not reason for it to be present.

Why is Motor flush bad on turbo engines?

it strips the glaze of the berring surface on the turbo unit causeing premature failure due to excessive heat.

How much more horsepower does a blower give to an engine?

Depends on what type,centifugal/ roots/ screw type, on normally aspirated motors you can expect 30% increase with 6psi, with an intercooler 8.5-9psi can give you a 60% boost.

How do you know if 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse is turbo or non turbo?

look at the engine, is there a snail shell looking thing attached to the front of the engine...if so then u got one.

------

If your Eclipse is a GS or RS it did not come from the factory with a turbo. the engine should be on the passenger side of the car. That engine is a 420a.

If you have an Eclipse GSX or GS-T then you have a turbo charged engine. the engine will be on the drivers side of the car. this is the 4g63 engine.

it is possible to have a 420a with a turbo, but someone will have had to put it on themselves, and you would probably know that when you bought it.

What is a turbo charger hose?

It is the hoses that carry compressed air from the turbo to the throttle body.

Should you use a super charger or turbo charger on your 1998 Chevy 350?

You should first figure out if your transmission is up to it. If you're running a 4L60E auto or NV3500 manual (the two transmissions most commonly mated to a GM small block for that era), it won't be. Then you'll have to figure out what PPM injectors you'll need, and what air intake and exhaust you're going with. Run a turbo with the stock intake, injectors, and exhaust, and you'll be running way too lean of a mixture, and the turbo will be detrimental, rather than beneficial. Gas engines are VERY strict when it comes to the stochoimetric ratio, and adding a turbo is not a simple "plug and play" modification.

The 350 is a virtual Barbie doll of engines... you can accessorize it any which way you please. Marine heads and cams, turbochargers, twin or compounded turbos, air intakes, high performance exhausts, superchips.... but you better have good fashion sense in how you match them up, or this one will make you miserable.

Can you put a blow off valve on a non turbo manual car?

Well you could if you are talking about just sitting it on the roof while you do other things. Yes you can put one on your car.

As far as the mechanics of it go it would be a total waste of time and money as it would do nothing at all other then to remove all doubts to your IQ.

Naturally aspirated cars run at a vacuum and seeing as a blow off valve is to get rid of pressure its beyond pointless.

All in all its probably best if you just catch the (short) bus.

What does a turbo timer do?

Keeps your car running for a set amount of time to let the turbo charger cool down. It achieves this because cooler oil and water will run through the journals of the turbo.
