undo all bolts and pull up and out.

Hi I just got my 97 960 , sun roof loked at it was leaking on both sides. I watched a guy do it that had years of experience. He is not always sure of were the water gets in . Seems like a lot of trial and error.
He cleaned off the seal around the glass with paper towel (the seal that looking from the top goes over the glass by a 1/2 " } . He had a piece of plastic {like a knife} and got it under the seal and blew any dirt out with compressed air.Then he used a caulking gun with a urathane cartridge in it {buy at the auto store for puting in windshields} and got the urathane under the seal all the way around. For any cleanup he squirted the excess urathane with a soppy water and ran a flat razor blade around the glass .Wipe off excess on per towel as you go. Also to check your drains there is a hole in each corner of the sun roof ,. Blow each hole with compressed air . At the front you should hear air at the bottom corner of each side of the wind shield. I didn't think it would work but it has rained yesterday and no leak !
Secondly when i shut the power sun roof , sometimes you can still hear the air sound so I have to bump the roof toggle switch to get a tight shut off. A Volvo mechanic showed me how to adjust it. There is an adjustment on each side of the sun roof .You can see it from insde the car on the sun roof linkage toward the back. Loosen off the small bolts on each side and push up on the glass.Tighten bolts back up.
Answersun roof has a tube at back of track which allow water to run off . this track if clogged will cause water to back up and run over side of track into car. better to put a vaccum tube on it than to blow thru which may clog it worse. If North American 960's are similar then yes, there is a fuel pump mounted above the fuel tank - it actually fits onto the fuel tank.
There's also another fuel pump located beneath the car, just aft of the front passenger seat (driver side in the States ..) in a bracket along with the fuel filter.

I have 1993 Volvo 960 and the coolant senor is located on the back of the block ( next to fire wall) The access is very difficult because the are two water hoses and some electrical wires right next to it.
Where is the turn signal flasher on a 1996 Volvo 960?
It's part of the mechanism contained in the hazard flasher switch module. It's really not just a hazard switch but a whole multifunction assembly for regulating activity of the turn lights -- L or R from the stalk, as a hazard set, and for alarm-set flashing.
The unit extends back about 6 inches from the little faceplate, so as you gently nudge it forward out of the faceplate (it's just a friction-fit), be prepared for how long it is.
The harness at the back has two plastic retainers, one on each side. See how they have to be bent -- very slightly and very gently! -- for the harness to slide out. BUT -- before taking off the harness, be sure to tie a cord securely around the wires behind it, so it will not slip back out of reach! (There is a lot of tension on it, as you pull out the assembly.)
I just discovered the above this morning, so I could check the continuity of the leads in the wiring harness, to be sure the wires and lights all worked and the switch unit really was the culprit, for my left-signal always on symptom. I'm glad i did check first, because the symptom recurs, when I connect the power (lead #6) and whatever is lead #9 -- so the way-expensive hazard unit seems not to be the problem (and it works fine for flashing all four and flashing right -- just not the left or all when the key is on). I'll have to ask you all about that situation -- but if someone as ignorant as i am the only one to answer the question I just did, I don't have high hopes of someone else answering my followup question!

Also mix with distilled water if not already pre-mixed 50/50.
PVC valve system on Volvo 940?
Volvo 940s do not have PVC valves. They do however have positive crankcase ventilation. Non torbo models have a flame trap that can clog, cause excessive crankcase pressure and blow out the oil seals. The flame trap should be checked every oil change. Change to the new plastic one if you still have the old brass finned one. It clogs faster. It is smaller than a golf ball. It mounts atop a 1/2 inch hose comming up from the oil box on the engine under the intake manifold between #3 & #4 cylinders. It has a small hose out the side and a "Ball Cap" hose on top.

Where are the timing marks 1996 Volvo 2.9 960 engine?
There are six timing marks on the 960 engine that you need to line up to get timing right. There are two arrows etched into the metal on the camshaft gears where the belt goes on. Next those arrows line up with the cut outs in the plastic of the timing cover. Basically the timing belt cover, covers the two camshafts but also SHOWS where the arrows need to line in between the two camshafts. The two arrows on the camshaft gears need to point to the cutouts on the plastic. Its more difficult to explain than it really is to do. Lastly there is a degree marking on the crankshaft when looking down at it from top. Also a faint marking on the block near the crankshaft as well. If you don't have any marking down by the crankshaft you will need to buy a tool that stops the crankshaft from rotating. This tool fits into a plug near the starter and correctly positions the crankshaft where it needs to be for correct timing.
