The vehicle should've come with a set of key-like items that you would put on top of and below the stereo and simply pull it out. These might be found in the glove box, if not it might be best to go to your nearest stereo store, car stereo warehouse, best buy etc.

The 1997 Buick Riviera is a front-engine vehicle and models produced between 1979 and 1999 are front-wheel drive. Models from 1963 to 1978 were rear-wheel drive.
There are two hidden carpeted doors on each side of the center counsel by your calf. Driver side has most of your aux. IE: cigarette lighter.
It takes 2 bottles of the GM supercharger oil (or Ford supercharger oil, they are the same product). Do not try to substitute anything else for it either. It is a specialized oil built for the iron bearings that are used in these superchargers.
Nope, don't make them anymore.
It is the automatic air leveling system. If it runs constantly you have a blown rear shock.

Within the GM company Buick is considered only a semi-luxury car brand. However, the Riviera is not the average Buick. From its first appearance in 1962 till today, the Riviera has been regarded as a private super luxury automobile.

Any GM vehicle should use Dexron/Mercon III transmission fluid. There is a newer version of it called Dex/Merc IV, but I haven't seen it at many places. I think you actually have to ask for it if you want it. It's all new & improved just like everything else you buy. Any brand of Dexron/Mercon should work fine.
should be yours since your making the payments now. you assumed responsibilty for the car when doing so.
because it is night
Remove the oil pan. To do that you usually need to lift the engine a little... but if you have low oil pressure the problem is rarely caused by an oil pump.
in my expierience of late, turned out to be the camshaft position sensor,it is behind the water pump pulley, below water pump, above harmonic balancer
The 1995 Riviera is a odd year, because it has the OBD2 connector with an OBD1 system. Most of your over the counter code scanners won't work for this car. The Actron 9150 claims it will work. The best price I've seen them is on eBay. You can find the connector if you look under the steering wheel. It should be about 12 pin connector. You can verify the OBD system by looking at the… Read More
In order to remove the alternator you must first remove the belt. The alternator is held in place by two bolts and one will require a 13 mm socket to remove it and the other one requires a 13 mm wrench to remove the nuts while holding the long bolt with either another 13 mm wrench or socket. The alternator takes some force to remove it and pry bar might help. PRECAUTION: When using a… Read More

Answer What is getting hot? the wire or the engine. If it is the wire, then the fan motor is bad-drawing too many amps. If the engine is getting hot, then start with thermostat, or check fan controls....etc... may need a scanner to diagnose proper fan operation. It sounds to me like too much juice is running through the cord, or the cord is not the proper guage. Just my humble (and inexperienced) so take… Read More

The top speed is limited by the computer. There is a governor on it at 113 Mine is not governed. It is a 98 also. It may be because of where you live. If you live in the U.S., I think some states require certain rules on vehicles, e.g. California. I live in Canada and we don't have restrictions re: governing the car. I do believe however, if you know someone who can hook up… Read More
As you fail to mention year and engine size, I will assume it is a 3.8 V6. Firing order for the 3.8 is 1-6-5-4-3-2

No, but impossible to check anything else if it is leaking. And if the rack and pinon is leaking, then it will have to be changed anyway.
The camshaft is located inside the engine block.
the relay switch is either under the rear seat or under the hood near the front right headlight,
the ignition control module is located under the distributor cap behind the engine block i had to remove the fuel injection from the top of my engine then i had to lay across the engine to reach the screws on the distributor cap. There are 2 screws one toward the front of the distributor cap and one directly across from that behind the distributor cap the second one is hard to get to i had… Read More
Answer fuel pump is in the tank, but there is an access plate in the trunk on the forward right side. Just pull up the trunk liner carpet and unbolt the panel for access to the pump. It is easy enough to get to. But unlocking the retaining ring is often a different story. it you can not get it off by traditional method-punch and hammer. Try a megasized pair of channel lock pliers and… Read More
Normally this would be wired into the Instrument Lights.
go thru passenger side and open drivers door; remove inside of door panel. You will see wire rod unhooked next to left side. rehook rood and outside should wook. If this is not the problem then the outside door handle has broken and must be replaced by taking two nuts/bolts (don't remember now) from inside, unhook rod, and replace handle.
It's a NIGHTMARE and simply requires patience. I have replaced several of these "Ignition Rack Actuator". It takes about three hours and a couple "SPECIAL" tools that I made myself. Biggest proablem I've had is purchasing just the actuator without buying the entire kit from buick. The kit costs over $50 and I've been able to get just the actuato9r for around $16 + ship.

The original wheel size is 15"
I'm not sure, but my wifes 2000 Venture had that problem and it was the speed sensors on the front wheels. If the ECM can't determine wheel speed it can't sense wheel spin (a difference between the two drive wheels) therefore it shuts down the anti-lock brakes which is how it stops spinning, (it uses the brakes to stop the spinning). Maybe this is your problem, hope I helped.
I had to try one additional part. I thought the pressure regulator resolved my problem. With an outside temperature at 45 degrees the car started up great. An outside temperature at 65 degrees caused the car to stall after the initial start-up. The intake air temperature sensor ($16.00) was replaced and this solved my problem.
Hey Stacy==When there is a malfunction in the ABS there is a trouble code set in the ebcm just like the check engine light. Generally it takes a tech 11 scanner to read the codes and about the only people who have them are the dealers. They need to read the codes and correct what is wrong. Generally when the light is on there are no anti-loc brakes just regular. GoodluckJoe Answer Not sure if… Read More

ON THE 1995 BUICK RIVIERA THE HORN IS LOCATED UNDER THE LEFT HAND SIDE FENDER. U WILL HAVE TO TAKE OFF THE TIRE AND REMOVE THE FENDER PANEL. THE HORN WILL BE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE LEFT INNER FENDER.
The code 41 can be things other than the cam sensor. It's a good bet this is your problem. There is a magnet on the cam gear. It's there to trigger the cam sensors its location to the engine management computer. They can fall out and set the cam sensor code. It's a big job and you need to remove the timing cover and replace the magnet. Good luck
If you are on ice or if you press on the gas hard then that is normal.
Hey Joe==The bushings in the motor are probably gone so itneeds changing. Take the pass inner fender panel off and it is right in front of you . this is no easy task and I suggest while you are in there you replace the heater hoses as it may save a trip there later. GoodluckJoe
There should be a schematic on the fan shroud for the serpentine belt I don't know about a '98 Riviera but I have a 1996 Riviera & it's in my original owners manual. Athough I do not have a engine belt diagram on the fan shroud, I do have a decal for the enviormental control system. ANSWER: There is a schematic in the owner's manual of the '98 Riviera.

you have to remove the motor mount and power steering pump
The wires to the ignition switch are broken. Ignition switch should be replaced or VATS system can be by-passed.Check with car alarm installers. This is cheaper than replacing switch, but you will lose anti theft system. It is possible that the resistor in the key itself has been damaged. A dealer would be able to make you a new key. Make sure you have your VIN number in case they need to contact GM to… Read More
First, put a wrench on the belt tensioner to remove the tension and take off the belt. You then need to block up the engine and remove the passenger side motor mount. You can then get the water pump out. Very conventional. I like to use a high speed cut-off wheel on the rivets, but a right angle grinder will work as well(4 1/2"). Do not use a cutting torch ........... !!!!!!!! Bad idea trust me .. I know~! The ball joint simply goes back in and retained by the Bolts & Nuts supplied with the replacement ball-joint. BOB
Check with the local wrecking yard. Most have software that show cross reference on parts.
You can buy a Haynes Repair Manual for around $20 which has all that info and most anything you would normally need for the car owner. Also, look on the underneath of your hood on in front of the radiator. here should be a vacuum schematic unless it was removed.
Get the schematics from MOTORLIT.COM.
What the heck are you trying to do ???
The fuel filter is located underneath the car near the rear tire (driver-side), near the gas tank.
1986 THROUGH 1989 RIV'S all use a completely computerized radio (along with everything else). The actual radio module is located immediately under the ashtray in the console. All radio related wiring plugs into this module (ie speakers, antenna, etc) Most of the connections are stamped into the chassis of the module. I have always just had the radio repaired. Fuse box is on the passenger's side up against the center console towards the front. It's concealed by carpeting, but the door simply pulls out to reveal the fuses.
If memory is correct it should be driven by the serpentine belt, which runs through one of the engine mounts. To change the belt you'll need to support the engine (by something other than the oil pan) and pull the engine mount. == here is another opinion== First you have to remove the belt to the alternator then you can remove the belt to the supercharger.to do this you will need a 19/32" socket and… Read More

I don't think of anything in comon between the two. If you have a check engine light, take it to autozone and have the codes read. It's either in the wiring but more likely in the turn signal switch (in the steering column) itself.
Kind of bolts- they use both metric, and SAE so you will need a full toolset for both.

The Supercharger can be disconnected. My 1998 Ultra had a pulley lockup which caused the belt to come off. I pulled the intact supercharger belt out of the way of moving parts till I had a chance to work on it. Many cars have the diagrams for vacuum hose routing on a sticker somewhere either on the underside of the hood or in the engine compartment somewhere. If none exists, you'll need a manual for the car to see the complete routing. www.autozone.com has vacuum hose diagrams for all vehicles.
It's really easier than you think. Loosen the wing nut that holds the air filter hose, pull the hose back and turn it out of the way (it is softer and more flexible than it looks). Pull off the electrial connection on the filter cover (I used diagonals to grab and lift it), unlock the two clips on the filter cover and remove cover, this will open up alot of space behind the headlight. I'm not sure but I've had the bottom seat out and that just popped out with a lift in the front on each side of the seat. The battery is in there so they're made to come out easy. Same as it was when you took them off. Same as listed on the coils. Same as listed in the manual. As a mechanic with 20yrs experience. I have found that many younger mechanics just want someone to tell them all the answers without having to ever have to refer to a manual--spank.
The fuel pump is located in the trunk of the car. Lift up the carpet mats toward the back of the trunk and you will see a metal plate with a few screws. Remove the plate and you will see the fuel pump. Its pretty easy to change but very expensive unless you can find one at a junkyard there usually under $20.00
look thru past answers. only takes a little time.
