The easyest way is to go with a 1 wire alternator (self exciting). Find or make brackets that will work, mount the alternator and run 1 wire from the alternator to the battery.

Install everything back on the car except for the alternator belt. You are going to need a long socket bar and a 15 mm socket. A socket bar is basically a rachet without the rachet mechanism. It has the square end on it to go into the socket at a 90 degree angle. Set up the belt on all the pulleys except for the alternator. Put the socket and bar on the bolt that is holding the tensioner on and twist it like you were tightening it. This will move the tensioner and give you slack so you can put the belt onto the alternator pulley. Once it's on and aligned, slowly ease off the bar until the belt goes tight. Remove the socket and bar and you are done.

The engine doesn't need an alternator. The vehicle it's sitting in does.

If the vehicle is very basic, has no electrical accessories, a 36 amp would be enough to keep the battery charged.

A vehicle with common accessories such as electric windows and locks should have a 63 amp or greater.

A vehicle with a winch, high output sound system or other high-draw accessories should be 100 amp or higher.

The new alternator probably has a faulty voltage regulator.

you need to remove or loosen belt tensioner assist bolt that is attached to the top of the alternator

it need to be three inches in forward toward the core support. 12mm bolt with fine trend in to 14 mm bolts on top of the alternator in one small 12mm bolt about two inches long bolt than spacer an throw the bracket into the alternatorand tight it up.

Having a piece break off your alternator bracket shouldn't have any impact on your timing chain unless the piece somehow hit it/got stuck, and that seems highly unlikely.

I've seen it done. You've gotta jack the car up, then jack the engine up (use wood against the oil pan so you don't bend the sucker up). Once you've got the stress off of the motor mount (right hand side of the car) you can undo the bolts. From there, if you jack the motor up a little, you should have just enough room to play. Jack up the engine? ...umm...just jacking the car up will do. Before you touch anything to do with the alternator, please remove the positive terminal from your battery...or will experience quite the ride. ;) Should be a few bolts and more or less self explanatory.

Exposure to the rough underhood environment combined with time will find something to corrode and cause a failure eventually, too. A high quality alternator can reduce, but not eliminate, that factor.

Naturally stressing the alternator with unsually high demand for current causes more electricity to be generated, which heats the components.

under the alternator you will see a automatic belt tensioner you use a extra long 3/8 inch square breaker bar or a 3/8 ratchet wrench with a pipe extension the pulley is spring loaded so pull until belt loosens and pulls off do the same to put back on make sure there is a belt diagram on water pump pulley cover before you go nuts trying to figure out where belt goes make sure belt is on every pulley groove or belt will chew up and fly off
