Why does air conditioner smell like burnt rubber and squeals?
The drive belt is worn out but more than likely it is just loose. Check the tension on the belt. 1/4" deflection center of the belt.
What is the maximum number of gears on a motor vehicle?
There is no maximum. The manufacture could theoretically put as many gears as they want. Mercedes Benz has a 7 speed transmission & Chrysler has an 8 speed transmission. Long haul semi-trucks have 26 gears ratios or more.
How do you know if it is the water pump or thermostat going bad in a 2004 jeep liberty limited?
It would help if you said what the problem is. - Thermostats usually either work or don't. If they don't it takes a long time for the engine to get warm, -this has nothing to do with the water pump.
Water pumps sometimes leak, you lose water and can see this in the rad. -there is no repair, -you change it for a new one. -This problem has no similarity to any thermostat problems.

If the bolt you have to loosen wont loosen what do you do next to loosen the bolt?
Sometimes lightly tapping on the bolt with a hammer can cause some of the material that binds the bolt to break loose. Don't get too energetic though, you can cause damage. Next step, apply a little heat to the nut or whatever the bolt is attached to. Try to keep the bolt a little cooler than the nut so that the nut will expand slightly more than the bolt.
There are conical remover bits that you screw counter clockwise into a hole drilled in the center of the bolt that will loosen many problem bolts. You will need to replace the bolt if you are to put your machine back together.
After that, get a grinder or hacksaw and plan to replace the bolt.
ANS 2 - Many bolts like this will come loose with an air impact wrench. Try this with a proper impact socket.
Why would the pulley to the block of a car not be moving?
ANS 2 -If this pulley is not moving, the crankshaft is not turning.
How often do you change a timing belt on a 1989 Acra legend?
Change it every 60,000 miles. This is an interference engine and as such if the belt breaks serious engine damage will occur. I also recommend you change the water pump which is driven by the cam belt if you are over the 100,000 mile mark and you have never changed it. This will save you money on labor costs later on.
How do you fix an antifreeze leak in your car?
Depends where it's leaking, but basically you fix it the same way you fix any coolant leak.
<><><><><>
Generally, its a hose that is leaking. You find the leaking hose, and you replace it, being sure to properly treat the ends with anti-leak compound. If its the radiator, you need to replace that. If its the intake manifold or head, you are getting into big bucks to replace the gasket involved.
Belts have to make at least a 180° wrap around engine components. To do that, they sometimes have to place an "idler roller" under the component before they can route the belt to the next component. That idler roller doesn't power anything. It just keeps the belts wrapped properly around the preceding pulley. The roller has a bearing in it and sometimes that bearing wears out.

What if the car makes a squealing sound from a cold start?
That is very likely a slightly loose serpentine or other drive belt. In colder weather belts get stiffer and slicker, fluid (as in the steering pump) gets thicker and harder to turn . If it diminishes when your car warms up, that is almost certainly the cause. - Let a mechanic hear it and diagnose it. There is also the possibility it could be a bearing worn in alternator or any other belt driven part.
