It sure doesn't look like it so far. So far it looks like gasoline prices are going down. There must really be an abundance of oil out there. Have we been conned? For years we have been told that there was not much oil left. Oil was about to run out and that was the reason that the price was so high.

My first thought was that you may have a head gasket problem. To verify before spending much money, have a compression & leak down test performed on each cylinder. Each should read 90 to 110.

drops of oil coming out of the tail pipe can be caused by a busted motot block broke rings cracked head or head gasget

i had the same problem , it was the PCV valve out of it's oil seal and there was a leak also in the manifold that was absorbing oil from around the PCV while kicking the gas ,

after i changed the PCV and tighten the manifold its over and the engine became great.

There are two possibilities that could be the cause of your problem.If you are referring to the flame igniting and then shutting off the problem could be with your burners having difficulty maintaining a unimpeded flame, due to dirt build -up. When the flame goes out and the thermostat demands heat, the ignitor tries to restart the flame and the process repeats itself. If you are speaking of the heat cycle itself being of short and repeated duration in order to satisfy the thermostats requirements, then the problem lays with theHeat intissipator that is located within your thermostat. It is the small level inside that usually has a small pointer with marked graduations the is there to adjust the heat cycle itself.The scale usually goes from .10 to 1.2. Most thermostats work best at.8. It is adjusted by removing the thermostats cover and gently adjusting the slider to the desired level. This can be accomplished by the average person if care is exercised. If the burners are fouled, the cleaning should be done by a qualified technician so that the burner heads can also be adjusted to give maximum efficientcy. Most heating contractors offer reasonable rates for this problem. Signed Been there...done that.

It all depends on where the leak is. Most shops are going to charge you anywhere from $25 to 75$ per hour. If it's a valve cover gasket, just do it yourself. Personally, I'd change one for twenty bucks plus the cost of the gasket. Same goes for a faulty oil sending unit. If it's the crank seal, you're looking at a three hour job or there abouts. If it's the oil pan, you've probably got a two to three hour job. As I said, it all depends on where the leak is and where you take it. If you're handy, just do it yourself and save a bunch of money.

You have a problem with the stepper motor gauge that Chevy used in the 02-06? Avalanche. All the gauges use the same stepper motor. They just go wonky and do all kinds of weird things. I have replaced two on mine already and two more are now acting up. There is a guy selling the motors and the repair for this problem on E-bay.

There is a chemical that the scientists or the people cleaning the spill r thinking of using it is supposed to i think absorb the oil or harden it so it can be cleaned i don't remember but the reason thy might not us it is because it is not necessarily good for the environment and for humans
