If the car has a manual transmission, it can be "pop started" by pushing it with the clutch disengaged and then throwing it into a low gear while it is moving. Otherwise the starter is crucial to getting the car's engine to turn over.

The dashboard on a Cadillac DeVille is removed by pulling up the trim, removing the retaining screws, and lifting it from its pointing points. It can then be gently lifted at an angle to remove it.

You take it to an expert. This is not a DIY job. Go to the dealer an purchase a manufacturer's shop service manual for about $100 or get a used one before attempting to change the timing chain. Be sure to follow the manual exactly. You can also take it to many high schools that have automotive maintenance classes and pay much less to have it done there. All the work done in most of these high school shops is monitored by a teacher that has not only a teaching degree but, must be ASE certified just to get the job. Keep in mind that the students are being graded on how well the do the work. Make sure you have both the camshaft and crankshaft timing gears replaced at the same time. If the timing chain has enough wear on it to get loose the gears are worn also.

Torque in this sequence: Torx and 15mm headed bolts - 30ft lbs. The 7, 10 mm hex nuts - 5 ft lbs. The 7, hex head bolts - 5ft lbs. Take note not to overtighten as this will damage the timing cover.

Take it to a pro a lot of special tools and know how req. A lot of shops won't do this job.

i had the same problem with a 1991 ford taurus. the fuel pump is bad. the tank acks like a heat sync and vaporlocks the lines. if yu put a pressure gauge on it i bet u are only running at about 30psi and should be at 40+-. changing the fuel pump should cure this problem.

They don't make these cars for a shade tree fixer, you almost have to take it back to the dealer, unless you have the right tools. And they are counting on you not having them. Good luck. Had the same problem on my 98 DeVille.

under the car, forward of left rear wheel just inboard of the jack point

a 1996 deville has a total of 02 sensors. the 1st on is located on the bottom right side of the engine. The second is lower left side on maifold pipe,(left side of engine. The third one is before the cattalytic converter(bottom of car) And finally the fouth one is after the cattalytic converter,(follow the 3rd one back). All require special tool to remove. Sensors 1,3,4, are the simple to replace. Sensor two is in a tight spot. It almost took me an hour to replace it. All others take no more than ten minutes to replace. Good luck

I have a 1995 Cadillac Deville, 4.9 engine also, I believe the problem is the oil pump is going bad and the oil is not being properly pressurized. I've already replaced the oil switch located above the oil filter on the engine block, but you have to remove the air filter holding unit first to get to it. As soon as I find someone who can replace mine at a reasonable cost, I'll let you know if that was the problem. Also don't forget to check your oil level first. This engine only holds 5 quarts of oil in the engine alone, and another 1/2 quart in the oil filter itself. Totaling 5 1/2 quarts. Good Luck!

It should be a round canister under the dash close to the fuse box it will be plugged in to some wires or directly in the fuse box hope this helps

There are two fuse boxes: One under the hood and the other under the rear seat.

it's best to get a new blower and replace it. you have to access it from under the hood about half way across the firewall there will be an access panel that has to be reomved. it takes about 2 hrs. if you are mechanically inclined go for it.
