Pull out the instrument cluster and they twist lock into the back of it. Not hard to do if you will just take your time. You should be able to do this in about an hour or so.

What you describe is possible. Worn fuel pumps often make more noise as the internal workings start to rattle around. Check the fuel pressure using a fuel gauge. That will tell you what you need to know. Anything else is just a guess.

the blower motor is under the hood on the pass side. u have to remove the wiper and radiator bottles and also the head light. than take out the 7 bolts that hold the blower motor in than u have to remove the squirel cage before the motor will come out.

Chevy did not use are have an Inertia switch. Ford only used them.
You either have a bad fuel pump or fuel pump relay if you have no fuel pressure.

I ran out of gas in my 2001 Chevy Malibu that I just purchased two weeks ago. After being pushed to the gas station and putting fuel in, it still wouldn't start. The gauge registered half a tank. I had to have it towed home. We thought it was the fuel pump. I came to this web site and read all the helpful information. Nothing seemed to work. Then I read that someone suggested to turn the key on enough to hear the fuel pump and then turn it off. Doing this about 8 to ten times and having a battery charger hooked up I tried to turn the engine over and it WORKED!!! Whoever suggested that, I can't remember but if you read this, thank you so much I almost ran out and bought a fuel pump. I am a female and my husband suggested to buy a fuel pump. (he's a mechanic) I refused to believe that the pump was bad. So while he was at work and browsing this web sight I decided to take it upon myself to do what was suggested. I still can't believe it. My car is back on the road. Thanks again, whoever you were.One more thing, after reading other problems regarding the Malibu has been a little discouraging, I have to say. I love the car, but fear the problems others are having. (Example, blinkers working when they want to) I am seriously considering putting the car up for sale while its it top running condition. Hopefully someday GM will honor their work and back up their rep. I have always had Mazdas, Nissans, or Toyotas. What a difference that is. I feel personally, that they are more dependable then the American cars. Why is that? Therefor, what good is the warranty if it isn't going to be fixed properly.

(The correct optional size tire would be a 245/60-15) ?

The coil is mounted on the intake manifold on the passengers side. It is closer to the front of the engine and quite difficult to get at, I had to take the doghouse off to get at it but it can be done. When in doubt follow the lead wire off of the distributor.

One answer would be a vacuum leak , check under the hood to see if there are any loose hoses just off of their connection point. Another thing to check is if your engine light is on and what codes you might have on it. Could be a bad sparkplug wire/multiple wires or clogged fuel system.

Probably programmer, It needs to be checked out.

I had the same problem....the easiest way to know is to safely jack the vehicle up, run it until it's hot then follow the rubber coolant hose from rear heater to the engine. You will likely find it is cold all the way to the front. If you remove the fan shroud etc you will see a coolant distribution valve ( there are two) plastic and avialbale from GM. They have vacum connections on them. Check to be sure the connections are ok. If so the valve is likely stuck in the closed position prohibiting any coolant flow to the rear heater from the engine cooling system. The valve ( I would replace both while there since they are buggers to get at and change) . jk

i think that engine is a 4.3 ltr, there for the power steering unit is forward face aft lower right hand side of the engine.

Take it off

1.remove fill hose on fuel tank that goes to gas door. 2.remove 2-bolt on tank straps these hold tank in use floor jack to support tank. 3.lower tank about 6" remove fuel lines and fuel sending unit wires then lower tank. 4.top of tank were lines connect metal ring holds fuel unit into tank flat head screw driver tapping counter clockwise remove ring pull unit out pump is on end. 5. when replacing fuel pump replace seal , fuel lines at tank and filter to prevent future problems.

If you are referring to the "turn signal, cruise control, wiper assembly switch" you will need to do the following.

Disconnect Battery, Remove lower valance under steering wheel, disconnect wiring under steering wheel, ie air bag, and main connector to multi switch. Remove out trim ring around base of steering wheel, remove screws holding multi switch and un-thread wiring from steering column. Assemble all in the reverse.

try the ignition control moduale under distributor cap . Any gasoline engine needs fuel and ignition to start. You can check the coil wire (that's the part that went bad on my astro) and the fuel pump, as well as the ignition module. Listen for the "whirr" of the fuel pump when you first turn the ignition. If you don't hear the pump pressurizing the system that may very well be your problem. Try having someone kick (or rubber mallet) the bottom of the fuel tank while trying to start the motor. This sometimes is enough to get the fuel pump going again when it is going bad.

To Calculate the "Gas Mileage" of your car you can use your trip meter. Zero it at the next fill up then when you fill up again make note of the mileage. Now take the miles and divide it by the gals pumped. Example: 225.4 / 11.125 = 20.260674157303370786516853932584 or 20.26 MPG Don't believe what any Carmaker say about the EPA estimated miles are they are never correct. Hope This Helps.

If you do not have a key, a locksmith can get you in.

try putting anti freeze in it, you may also need a new thermostat

The ABS pump relay is intergrated into the EHCU (elecro-hydraulic control Unit) and it is not serviceable. If the ABS pump relay is defective, the entire control unit must be replaced.

Astro has no AC (cabin) filter.

the abs pump needs to be replaced it has a relay that is built into it that defaults to on and will allow the abs pump to continue to run with the key off

I had the same problem on my 2000 cargo van. I took the panel off the door on the inside (about 10 screws), and was able to manually open the door by reaching in and pulling on the latch. From there it is was easy to replace the handle with one made with better metal from the parts store (HELP! brand). I would suggest taking to old one with you to match it up. I bought the wrong one first time around even after the clerk looked it up in the computer.

I've expericened this problem on my 94 . you have to take the dog houseing off which is the covering right underneath your radio,it's a silver part right over the rotor cap and it has three screw s to replace it you also might want to change the hoses on it as well

==Answer 1 == Not having worked on your particular make and model, I can only give a generic answer, which GENERALLY APPLIES to most, if not all, automotive engines, and should help until an expert provides a more definitive answer. To the best of my knowledge, the only place where spinning motion of the crankshaft is observable and accessable is the CRANKSHAFT DAMPENER PULLEY which is mounted on the crankshaft at the "front" of the engine. On a transverse [crosswise] mounted engine, the front is considered the end that has the drive belt(s). Generally, the SENSOR size is usually no more than 1/2 to 3/4 inch in diameter, and 1 to 2 inches in length, and it will have one or two wires attached. The sensor will be mounted on a metal bracket attached to the front of the engine, and very close to the CRANKSHAFT DAMPENER PULLEY. The bracket locates the sensor IN THE "PLANE" of the pulley, in other words, "looking" at the EDGE of the spinning pulley. I hope this helps, until someone else contributes a more specific answer.

I just replaced one on my 1992 astro and it was $120 just for the distributor not including the rotor and cap
