Chevy Venture Towing capacity?
Towing Capacity is 2,000 lbs. for the non-tow package models and 3,500 lbs. for the tow package models.
sounds like you're having a starter issue, have it checked. change that out if it's bad. If it's not the starter, then it's your battery. I'd say start with the battery first. It could be having an issue coming up with the power needed to start the engine. Take your battery out & have it tested at your local auto parts store.
Starters can be tricky, one minute they work, the next minute they don't. The fact that your engine turns with the spark plugs out is, imo, unrelated to the fact that it does not turn with the plugs in. But, I've covered my bee-hind here by telling you to test the battery as well, first. If your battery's good, then it's the starter at fault.

How do you change astro van sealed beam lights to composite lights?
In short, it is pretty easy. I have a 1998 Chevy Astro that I bought in 1999. I love it but have always wanted the composite look. I recently went to a junkyard and found an Astro with composite headlamps. I made an offer for the parts and we struck a deal. Here are the instructions based on my experience
1. Remove the corner light assembly. (almost triangular clear lights on each side of the headlight) Raise the hood and you can access a 10MM bolt that holds the lamp in place. Incidentally, this is just for looks, there is no light.
2. Remove headlamp assembly. This is the black plastic frame that the headlamps attach to. This is attached with 3 10MM bolts. At this point, cut the headlamp wiring harness off deep inside the frame of the van so that you will have enough slack to wire to your van.
3. Remove the parking lamp assemblies. Each is held on with 2 Philips screws. You do not need to take these with you if your parking lights are in good shape. Your existing parking lamps fit the composite style grill just fine. No wire cutting is required, your existing wiring will be just fine.
4. Remove the composite grille. About 10 1/4" bolts hold the grille in place and the mounting pattern is the same as your van.
5. Check that you have taken the grille, headlamp assemblies, corner lights and the wiring harness for the composite lamps. (as I said, the parking lamps are optional)
6. Remove existing sealed beam lights, adjustment bracket and screws.
7. Install the composite grille and parking lamps.
8. Time to do the wiring. Cut the sealed beam harness. (3 wires, brown, green and black) The composite lamps have 2 lights each. (black and brown and black and green) Twist the 3 black wires (Grounds) together with wire nuts. Then connect brown to brown and then green to green.
9. Mount the composite headlamp assemblies to your van. (The holes are pre-drilled at the factory for a perfect fit) Then mount to corner lights. Test your lights and maybe take to a shop to have headlights aimed professionally.
Works perfectly. Took me only about an hour and a half. Cost me about 100 dollars. It was a nice upgrade that really looks sharp.

How to change a belt on a 2000 Chevy Astro van?
Replacing the Serpintine belt
remove top of air intake (hose clamp, and air sensor)
remove Lower Air intake (just snaps onto Fan shroud)
remove Fan shroud (3 bolts along top and 2 bolts on the sides) you'll need wratchet with a long extension
once you can see the front of the motor take a second to note routing
take your wratchet and extension insert it in the tensioner (under alternator Pass. side) and relieve the tension on the belt. I've found sliding belt off tword engine easiest (you may need to twist flat to clear the tensioner). once off tensioner you should be able to work the belt off. I usually take off the alternator first that gives me enough slack to get the belt out from behind the tensioner.
start routing the new belt. get it inplace as best you can then i use a spring clamp on the belt and crank pully. this helps keep the belt in place as it tends to fall off the crank pully while your messing with final routing and the tensioner
route belt leaving the alternator off, release the tension and slide the off the tensioner twords the engine release the tensioner. place belt on alternator. release tensioner slide belt onto tensioner
sliding the belt onto the tensioner from behind is the easiest way I've found as I've done this several times
reinstall fanshroud, lower air intake and upper air intake

AnswerIf the 2000 & 2001 astros are the same, you can save a lot of time by not removing anything. You can get to the tensioner from underneath the van. Release the tension, slide the belt off any of the pulleys. When installing the new belt, put it on the engine side of the tensioner first so you can get your ratchet back on. If you have someone who can hold the belt on the a/c and alternator, it's only a 5 minute job. Solo it takes 10 minutes tops. Why should you have to replace your exhaust manifold gasket?

Why does my all wheel drive fuse keep blowing on my chevey astro?
Fuses That "Blow" Repeatedly
Without being able to "hands on" troubleshoot the circuit served by the repeatedly blowing fuse, none of us can identify the specific defect which is causing your problem.
Therefore, the following generic answer can be applied to any electrical circuit, whether in a vehicle, or in a building, or whether alternating current [AC] or direct current [DC].
Fuses [and Circuit Breakers] are safety devices designed and installed in electrical circuits TO PROTECT the conductors [wires] and other components from short circuit conditions and/or overload conditions which cause an extremely large flow of electrical current [measured in Amperes], which causes overheating of the conductors that results in damage to the insulation and the conductors.
And in a worst case scenario, the probability of a FIRE which could destroy the vehicle, house, or other structure in which the circuit is located.
When a fuse or Circuit Breaker [and replacement fuses, or repeatedly "tripping" Circuit Breakers] "blow," especially if it happens repeatedly, is an indication of an UNSAFE CONDITION in that circuit, usually a short.
The fuse or circuit breaker is doing what it was designed, intended, and installed to do, that is to protect the conductors and components of the circuit which it serves.
The proper "fix" for this issue is for a qualified technician, who knows what he or she is doing, to troubleshoot the involved circuit, find and identify the defect, and make proper repair [s], BEFORE replacing the fuse again [with the properly sized fuse or before resetting a circuit breaker].
Some ignorant few people will suggest installing a larger fuse or breaker to solve the problem, BUT that will only increase the hazard, not correct it.
Do not follow "bad" advice by installing a larger fuse in a misguided attempt to correct the problem. To install an oversized fuse would almost guarantee damage to the wiring and the probability of an electrical system fire.

What size wiper blade for your 1999 Chevy Astro van?
The 1999 Chevrolet Astro wiper blade sizes are 18" wiper blades on both sides front and a 13" rear wiper. See sources and related links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only - be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.

How do you replace sideview mirror on 1992 Chevy astro van?
If you are just replacing the broken glass on the Chevy astro van it is simple. Well, you first must breakdown the mirror from the plate called a frame. One simple way to do this is to get a flat strong instrument like a wide screw driver or scraper. Now to loosen the adhesive from the plate you must apply some heat. Ideally a propane torch is good, but if you have the wife's hairdryer or a heat gun that will also work. Heat up the mirror enough so you can get the screwdriver or the scraper under the mirror and pull all the broken pieces off. Make sure you are wearing gloves and protective eyewear, and after the side view mirror glass is removed, make sure all the mirror and adhesive is clean off the framed plate.
Now you need to get a glass only product. I have purchased them at this website
www.auto-glass.com/carmirror.htm
Once you have removed your side view mirror from the frame, you now need to , apply a non latex based silicone glue to the black frame. Apply the glue outward so it extends past the lip of the frame. I call this the snow cone effect. Glue it in 5 spots. One in the middle and 4 in the middle corners. Don't get too close to the frames edge, as it will ooze out of the frame, making a mess. So use small dabs of the adhesive 3/8" inch wide by 1/2" outwards. Once you have adhered the mirror to the plate, get some easily removable tape, like masking tape, and tape the mirror around the mirror housing so that the mirror will not slide off the frame. This will also allow you to drive without the mirror falling out. Keep the tape on for 24 hours for cold climates and 5 hours in warm until the glue dries. Then remove the tape and your are done. This project is easy, and can be performed on many cars, trucks, and vans, not just the Chevy Astro

YOU HAVE WATER UNDERNEATH THE PICKUP SENSOR IN THE DISTRIBUTOR..PULL THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP UP AND SQUIRT WD-40 INSIDE THE DISTRIBUTOR AND THIS WILL DRY IT OUT..IF IT CONTINUES THEN HOLD A HAIR DRYER UNDER THE CAP BUT THIS TAKES A VERY LONG TIME..DONOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE OUT THE ACTUAL DISTRIBUTOR AS YOU WONT BE ABLE TO PUT IT BACK IN WITHOUT LINING UP THE CAM SHAFT AND I CANT BEGIN TO TELL YOU HOW TO DO THAT..ONLY REMOVE THE CAP..IF YOU STILL HAVE A PROBLEM GO BUY A NEW DISTRIBUTOR CAP AS YOU MAY HAVE A PIN CRACK THATS LETTING IN ADDITIONAL MOISTURE..IF IT STILL DONT WORK YOU WILL PROBABLY NEED TO GET A MECHANIC TO REBUILD THE DISTRIBUTOR. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH THIS MYSELF.
you have no idea what your talking about, theres no such animal a distributor cap on a 3.1 l buick century, its distibutorless.......
