have a test done to see if your camshaft sensor is bad that sounds suspiciosly like fuel filter.
Where is the oil level sensor sender found on your 2001 E320 and how is it replaced?
It seems to be a black instrument stuck on the upper side of the oil pan directly above the drain plug.
I would start off trying a new thermostat. If it's never been replaced to your knowledge, then it's probably time for a new one since the car is 18 years old. Good luck and I hope that's all it is because it's an inexpensive fix.
I'm not totally sure because I have to see it and take a look but it sounds like your starter is going bad. Either that or I would say that it is the solenoid switch gone bad. If this doesn't answer your question please go into better detail because I would like to help you figure tha problem out. :-)

Under hood, passenger side, beside/next to radiator in the silver metal line that is going up and down. Remove that one nut on that fat looking strange looking fitting. There will be two of them but undo the one that is going up and down. Pull it apart, it will be down INSIDE the pipe. Reach it with needle nose pliers Pull it strait up & out. That plug and wire that will want to get in your way is the pressure sensor, try not to accidentally break it. It can be removed by unscrewing it.

Depends on if its is an automatic or manual transmission. The stock LS1 is capable of sending this car across the track in the very low 13's on stock tires. Slap on some drag radials and this car breaks into the 12's completely stock. This is all dependant on many things including driver skill (reaction time, shifting, wheel spin, etc), altitude, temperature, track conditions etc.

It is just a thin 'sheet' that fits on the back of the cluster & has a plug-in attachment. I have a 70 RS/SS, rebuilt from ground - up. I never liked all the gauges all over the place so I wanted all the gauges in the dash - got mine at a local junkyard :)
