How do you replace serpentine belt on 91 Chevy G20 van?
This is an easy one. There is a belt tensioner on the How_do_you_change_a_serpentine_belt_on_a_1992_Chevrolet_G20_vanof the engine which applies tension to the serpentine belt. A small wheel rides above the belt and applies the tension. Put a ratchet and socket on the bolt found in the center of the small wheel. The wheel and arm it is attached to will move up as you apply pressure to the ratchet. It is only necessary to move the small wheel and arm a short distance in order to slip the serpentine belt from under it.
The trick will be replacing the belt. If the label showing the routing of the serpentine belt is missing (usually on the air intake pipe) draw a diagram before removing the belt.

How do you change freeze plug on 1994 Chevrolet Silverado?
It depends on the freeze plug. Generally though, pull everything out of the way so that you can get to it. There may be one or more in the BACK of the engine, so to get to those you will need to separate the engine and transmission.
If it's a side freeze plug, for example behind the starter, you would need to pull the starter and anything else that might hinder access to the freeze plug. Then, pull the freeze plug out using whatever method you find acceptable. Generally, if the freeze plug is rusted, you can put a large screwdriver or small pry bar into the weakened area then pry out the freeze plug.
Once the old plug has been removed, clean the opening and install the new one. If you have the type with the tightening screw, just tighten it in to seal it. Otherwise you'll need to press in the new one, making sure to get a good seal.

How do you replace the alternator on a 1989 Toyota Hiace van?
1994 Chevrolet G20 won't start unless I step on the gas all the way to the floor?
Sounds like too much fuel in the fuel/air ratio. When you open the throttle all the way, you greatly increase the air flow into the cylinders and when the air flow reaches combustion ratio's the engine will fire off and run. You may want to check the EFI system to see if it is leaking. Try to start it without first stepping on the accelerator pedal at all and see if that helps. If you do not have an EFI system, but a carburetor the accelerator pump valve may be sticking open or leaking. If this is the case you need to replace the carburetor or have it rebuilt.

That depends on the age of the engine.
Air filter, plugs, wires, cap and rotor are always a good place to start.
If it's an older engine you may need to include points and condenser.
If it's TBI you may need to include oxygen sensors and connect it to an engine diagnostic scanner.
You can always look in your owners manual and see what is recommended for the routine maintenance.
You can also do a manuel diagnostic. It will give you a set of codes.
Why would a Chevy Astro Van turn but not start?
try the ignition control moduale under distributor cap . Any gasoline engine needs fuel and ignition to start. You can check the coil wire (that's the part that went bad on my astro) and the fuel pump, as well as the ignition module. Listen for the "whirr" of the fuel pump when you first turn the ignition. If you don't hear the pump pressurizing the system that may very well be your problem. Try having someone kick (or rubber mallet) the bottom of the fuel tank while trying to start the motor. This sometimes is enough to get the fuel pump going again when it is going bad.
