check the ground wire connection to make sure its clean and in good contact. Cut and replace it also may have been pinched and cuts off

On the right (passenger) side of engine, just ahead of the front edge of the head there is a little flat area where the block extends a little further forward than the front edge of the head. The number is stamped on that flat area which is aprox 1.5 x .5 inches. You may need to sand the area a little with medium sandpaper, and then rub some white chalk on it. When you are finished, be sure to wipe some grease on it for rust protection or someday the number won't be readable at all, as the stamping is very light at best. There are many resources available such as manuals and the internet, where you can then look up the number. Assuming a 350 engine, the starter is located on the passenger side of the engine, below the exhaust manifold. It is held in place with two bolts at the front, and one bolt securing a rear bracket. Disconnect both battery cables at the battery before beginning the job. The positive battery cable plus two more wires attach to the starter solenoid which is removed with the starter as one unit.

To test the alternator if funds are low, let the motor idle and remove the negative battery cable, if the motor dies its probably the alternator.

The resistor workaround at the key isn't always the only problem. I tried it on my 99 Suburban and it didn't do any better with the resister bypass. You need to eliminate the entire security system. Buy the pro module for $179 plus shipping and save yourself the hassle of dealing with it ever again. Or you could go to the dealer and have them replace the entire system for over $1000. They will have to replace the key/tumbler/hall effect switch/wiring and EVO-Passlock module to get it right.

Take your car to any Auto Zone or other like store. Most will check your battery and alternator for free. One of these is you problem, most likely.

There are two air bleed valves on this model. One is located on the thermostat housing and it is a small brass screw with a screwdriver slot and ridged edges. The second is located on the coolant bypass tube. It is the black metal tube that runs along the valve cover from the water pum to underneath the intake body. It is about the size of a pack of life savers and stands vertically. It has a brass screw at the top and is (I believe) an 8mm. This is not slotted and is an octagon.

first off disconnect the battery and then the wires to the silinoid switch on the top of the starter.remember where the smaller ones go. 6 or 8 cylinder the starter is on the pass side and you will have to acess it from underneath.2 9/16th head bolts i think
