I had a similar problem and it fixed itself. I think the internal mechanism was out of alignment because the light would be on when I had the seatbelt buckled and would go off when I took it off. You can try pulling the belt all the way out and letting it wind back in a few times to see if that helps. But again it may just fix itself. Hope this helps.
Does a 1995 Geo Prizm have a timing belt or chain?
It has a timing belt, as do all Prizms from 1989 to 1997. From 1998 on they use a timing chain.
Replacement is recommended every 60,000 miles, but I've seen many go 75,000- 80,000 miles. Once heard on "Car Talk" a girl who had over 200k miles on the original t-belt.
This is a non-interference engine, so there is no engine damage should the belt break, but, of course, the engine won't run.
I recommend replacing the tensioner and spring, water pump, and crank seal every second timing belt, and don't forget the hose behind the water pump pipe.

I had the same problem, got it fixed at a shop but it happend again. though I don't have a sultion, here is some insite. If it's blinking, then the airbag on the pasenger side didnt cheak ok during strt up(if soild then it's the driver side), but sometimes if I move the passenger seat back and forth, it some time it goes away, but it always comes back.

remove screw on inside door handle ,pull door handle; with rod still attached; out slightly from door. you will see on end of roda white nylon clip where it attaches to the handle. unsnap the clip from rod by pivoting the clip to the side of the rod. itsnaps on and off of the rod. then lift rod end up and out of the clip still in the door handle.
Buy the universal tool for removing the clip behind the window crank handle. It's about $4 at an auto parts store.
Also need to remove 2 screws at armrest. Remove the armrest padding by pulling up on it firmly. Remove the 2 Phillips head screws that are screwed at an angle into the door.
Pull the interior door latch handle to see the screw that needs to be removed. Slide the handle/plastic trim piece forward and pull the leading edge out from the panel to remove partly. Complete removal of the handle/plastic trim piece by disconnecting the attached rod.
Pop off the plastic trim by the lower front corner of the window.
Remove the panel by pulling straight out from the door along the perimeter to release the numerous plastic clips along the sides and bottom. A $6 investment for a trim removal tool at the auto parts store makes this much easier. Complete removal of the panel by lifting up and away from the window.

passenger side you will need to remove the relay box over the light, on the drivers side you may need to remove the battery. After that is done pull the bulb plug straight back to remove it. Then pull off the rubber cup that seals the bulb. Remember when you put it back on the drain holes go down. The bulb is held in by a spring retainer. There is a loop to use as a handle and it locks in place under a tab. Just hold the loop and push in a little and rotate it a tad to unlock it. The bulb just slides out then. Remember to not touch the glass part of the new bulb as it can shorten the life. The oil on your fingers, natural skin oil, will cause a hot spot on the bulb and can make it go out faster. Get the same bulb that came out. H2 55watt if I recall.

They are an unusual sizes. 4.5" diameter in the doors and if you have rear speakers, I believe they are either the same, or slightly larger like 5.25". Using spacers to move away from the window track inside the door, I was able to mount 5.5" speakers in my doors by widening the speaker hole in the wood on the back of the door panel. And using spacers along with some 2" flat brackets, I was able to mount 6.25" speakers in the back with good clearance of the moving trunk parts.

Look up at the upper part of the instrument panel and you will see (2) recessed Phillips head screws. After removing these screws you should be able to pull down on the bezel and carefully snap out the bezel. It is tricky, so be carefull. It helps if the tilt steering wheel is all the way down.
After the bezel is removed you will see the instrument panel is being held in place by screws around the outer edges. after removing these screws the whole instrument cluster comes out with the cables still attached. You will see the bulbs that are twist locked into the circuit board. It is then easy to untwist and remove them.

AnswerThe previous answer sounds correct, but I was able to replace an instrument light by reaching up behind the panel. It's a little crowded, but not too hard to access.Brake fluid may be a bit low. Cold weather will contract it, when it warms up it will expand and light will go off. Try adding just a little fluid. If the brake pedal ever feels "mushy", especially in cold weather it also could be a failing master brake cylinder.

There is no need to remove the door panel. The entire process took less than 10 minutes! Remove the one screw in the center of the handle housing. Slide the old housing toward the front of the car (if replacing the drivers side) and pull toward you. Hold the metal D shaped rod (at the inside rear) with needle nose plyers and remove the plastic clip (the clip swivels to make removal easier). Slide handle housing down from plastic hole. Slide new handle onto metal downrod and slide up. Connect plastic swivel clip to metal D shaped rod. Slide handle housing into opening and lock in place by sliding toward the back of the car. Insert screw and you are done. I bought my handle online for $23 including shipping. The local dealer wanted $36 for the handle after giving me a "ballpark" estimate for them replacing it of $150 to $200! I'm a 56 year old woman so I really think it's criminal that they would charge that kind of money for what took me 10 minutes!
