The main difference between an associate in applied science degree and an associate in science degree is that an AAS degrees is intended for someone that plans to find a job as soon as they finish school in a specialized area of skill (e.g. welding, automotive, ndt, dental hygenist etc.) whereareas an AS degree in science is intended for those looking to go on to a four year university. What it boils down to is that with an AAS degree MOST of the technical or vocational courses will not transfer over to a four year degree but you will be able to find an entry level job in your area of concentration. Compare that to that an associate degree in science and it would be recommended to go to a four year university because most employers wont accept an AS degreee as a qualification. With an AAS degree some of the classes will transfer over to a four year university if you earn the degree at a community college instead of a vocational or private school. Its a myth that most AAS degree courses wont transfer because at most junior colleges a student still has to take a math, English, science, computer, and elective courses as a part of their respective program. Do your research and if you intend on getting an AAS degree I would recommend getting it at a junior college instead of those technical or vocational schools if your area of concentration is offered, and normally you will see a junior college is cheaper, provides 100% finanical aid if you qualify and at most technical or vocational schools the most you can get is a certificate whereas with an AAS degree will help you out in the long run.

The term for a tool that makes work easier by changing the size or direction of a force is "simple machine." Simple machines are fundamental mechanical devices that allow us to multiply or redirect the force applied to accomplish tasks more easily. There are six types of simple machines:

1. **Lever:** A lever consists of a rigid bar (lever arm) that rotates around a fixed point called a fulcrum. Levers can change the amount of force applied or the distance over which the force is applied.

2. **Wheel and Axle:** A wheel and axle consists of a large wheel connected to a smaller axle. When force is applied to the wheel, it can change the direction of the force and multiply it.

3. **Pulley:** A pulley is a wheel with a groove that a rope or cable can run through. Pulleys are used to lift or move objects and can also change the direction of force.

4. **Inclined Plane:** An inclined plane is a flat surface that is angled. It allows objects to be moved up or down with less force over a longer distance.

5. **Wedge:** A wedge is a triangular-shaped object used to split, lift, or secure materials. It transforms a force into two forces acting in different directions.

6. **Screw:** A screw is an inclined plane wrapped around a cylindrical post (called a screw thread). When the screw is turned, it converts rotational motion into linear motion, making it useful for lifting or holding objects.

These simple machines form the basis of more complex machinery and tools we use every day. They enable us to perform a wide range of tasks with less effort by altering the magnitude or direction of forces.

I assume you are in the US but can only tell you what it is in australia. Basically you have to complete engineering bachelor which is 4 years, 5 with a double. Then do a masters, 1 to 2 years, then do your PhD which is usually 3 years. If you are going to do a PhD think why you want it. If you are into research then go ahead, it will go naturally but if you are just getting the title then I think you can spend the time a bit better on something else. =)

A masters within this field of study - in total - can range between 33-40 credit hours depending on the specific college or university curriculum layout. It usually takes a student two to three years to complete depending on the credit load carried each semester, personal work/life responsibilities, and/or whether it is taken as an accelerated program (which some institutions offer).

Without understanding the basic ideal components you cannot hope to begin to understand the models used for real components nor can you hope to understand the circuits these components are used in.
