A Kyocera Strobe that has a blank screen can be fixed by replacing the screen and ribbon cable. Screens can be easily damaged from being dropped.

How many cells does a 12 volt battery have and what is the capacity of each cell?

Typically 6 cells at approximately 2 volts per cell. The cell voltage varies by the chemicals used to make the cell (lithium would be around 3v for instance)

To charge a typical 12V battery it's common to use 13.4V to 13.8V

Instructions for Centrios Atomic Clock?

This didn't work for me. Here's what worked for my Centrios Atomic Global travel alarm clock with dual time:

A. Set time zone to "US".

  1. In regular time mode (not alarm or dual time modes), press and hold "Set" until the tiny country code, indicating time zone, starts blinking either "JP", "US", "GB", or "DE" for Japan, US, Great Britain, or DEutschland/Germany, respectively.

  2. Press "Adjust" repeatedly until "US" is blinking.

  3. Press "Set" and the "US" will stop blinking and turn solid.

  4. Now you can set the language by pressing "Set" repeatedly to cycle through "GB" for English, "FR" for French, "DE" for German, "ES" for Spanish, and "IT" for Italian.

  5. Press "Mode" to return to normal clock mode.

B. Set the specific US time zone.

  1. In normal clock mode (NOT alarm or "dual" time modes) displaying the day of the week (such as "WED" for Wednesday), press and release (don't hold) "Set".

  2. The day of the week should BRIEFLY change to "PA" in large letters in the upper left, indicating the default Pacific time zone. This will quickly revert to the day of the week! You can leave the Pacific time zone selected, or go to the next step.

  3. Before the "PA" disappears, quickly press "Adjust" repeatedly to cycle among "MO", "CE", "EA", and back to "PA", for MOuntain, CEntral, EAstern, and PAcific time zones, respectively. Stop when you reach the desired time zone.

  4. After a second or two, the US time zone will revert to the day of the week.

  5. Press "Receive" to try to get the time code signal from WWVB in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA. The station is operated by the US government and continuously transmits a low-frequency code that radio-controlled clocks like the Centrios "Atomic Global" travel alarm use to automatically set the time.

  6. The time code takes a full minute to transmit/receive, so it can take some time for the clock to set itself. The signal is clearer at night and during cold weather, so be patient. It might help to place the clock over night in a window roughly facing Colorado.

How do you use wires to make a robot and stuff like that?

Well first of all use the red and the black to connecty to the battery and then get a motion toy get the wires from there take out black and red then add your own plug it in where the origanals wore hopok up a larger battery or power source and walla technically a supe inovention! This is one of the smallest and simplest autonomous ones I have found yet, thanks to FriPilot http://members.tripod.com/robomaniac_2001/id120.htm Otherwise, I have had pretty good luck with buying small remote control cars at the dollar store (or the stuff my nephews throw away) and taking them apart to reconfigure the motors into what I want, but that ends up with wires connecting the robot to the controller. Some of the people I work with have pieced together radio control cars and other parts to get radio control robots. If you prefer robot kits, some hobby stores sell a few inexpensive ones that are sometimes configurable like these http://www.kitsusa.net/phpstore/html/Robot-Kits---Non-Soldering-1-1.html Otherwise some of the less expensive construction kits like Lego or K-NEX or Construx or a few others have motors and gears in the kits. If you have a larger budget, Lego Mindstorms, Bioloid and several others are more advanced kits that are programmable and autonomous. Some important terms to keep in mind are: operator controlled - the robot has motors in it, maybe some electronics, it doesn't move until you push a button or lever on the controller. remote control - usually connects the robot to the controller by a wire, you can usually keep the batteries in the controller to make the robot lighter. radio control - the controller is a transmitter, the robot has a receiver on it, both need batteries or some other power suppy. autonomous - you set up the robot and hardwire it or program it to run sets of commands, when you set it down and turn it on it runs the commands. Usually requires programming knowledge (like BASIC, C language, Assembly, ForTran, COBOL or some others) and electronics knowledge (like soldering, power supply vs. load, Programmable Logic Arrays, Trans/ceivers, sensors, and many other options). But of course it is the most fun. sensory feedback - the robot can have switches, sensors or detectors on it that send information back to the controller (or its processor if it is autonomous). Might require a transmitter on the robot and a receiver in the controller (with some indicators to tell you what the robot is "sensing"). Anthropomorphism - "the attribution of uniquely human characteristics to non-human" things and critters. There is a ton of things that can go together to make a robot. If you learn how to fix toys, appliances and cars it definitely helps you figure out robots.

How do you determine what kind of amp wiring kit you need?

First of all you need to know how many watts your amp is. Next go to a place that has the kits. The kit will usually tell you what size gauge power wire you will need. You also need to determine or verify if you will run your wire thru the hood or thru the firewall of the vehicle. have a nice day.

What is the thing that allows you to hook up your computer screen to TV or projecter called and where can you buy one?

You are looking for a "Scan Converter", a device that changes computer images in VGA,SVGA,XGA or XVGA format to video in NTSC, PAL or SECAM format. Extron Electronics in Anaheim, CA has several different versions. Assuming you are in the US, you'll want a unit that provides NTSC output and can be connected to the yellow video input jack on a TV or projector.

What does CR stand for in CR1620 battery number?

As far as I have seen, the "CR" in the CR1620 battery number denotes a manganese dioxide lithium chemistry within the battery.

How do you calculate current on the primary side of a transformer only knowing the turns ratio and the voltage ratio?

The primary current on a loaded transformer depends on the secondary current, which is determined by the load. So, if you know the secondary load current, then you can use the turns ratio of the transformer to determine the primary current:

Ip/Is = Ns/Np

Do European batteries work in American devices?

Since Batteries work on DC then it doesnt matter wheter or not they are European or American, as long as you choose the right Voltage and Current for the batteries.

What is the difference between transformers and adapters?

A transformer is a component that changes AC current from one voltage to another. A transformer consists of two coils, one connected to the input, and one connected to the output. A transformer can convert voltage up or down, depending on the number of windings on the coil. An adapter MAY include a transformer to change the voltage, but an adapter usually changes the voltage AND converts from AC to DC as well, and may have a regulator that locks the voltage to prevent a surge and other components that prevent what is called "ripple".

How often do you clean solar panels?

PRN. (As required.) As solar panels get dirty or coated with other things that "block" incoming light, their efficiency goes down. Obviously. The good news is that a panel doesn't just "stop working" out of the blue because it wasn't cleaned. Its efficiency will just fall off gradually. Eyeball the units every week or two and make a call. There is no fixed interval because the local environments where they are put up vary from minor to heavily laden with dust or other airborne "junk" that can settle on the surface of the panel. Oh, and call a local solar company and ask some questions. They're the experts. And they want to share what they have learned, what they know.
