A transistor is a silicon device with 3 leads, emiter, collector, and base. It is used both as a fast switching device and for signal amplification. It is said to be "saturated" when maximum current is flowing and "cutoff" when no current is flowing from the emiter to the collector. It takes a difference of approx. .7 volts between the emiter and base to turn it "on".

For signal amplification the input signal goes into the base and the amplified output signal is taken at the collector with the transistor operating, or biased, between cutoff and saturation. It would be normally biased in between cutoff and saturation for the signal to be "linear" or non distorted. The signal at the collector will be inverted (180 phase shift) with respect to the input signal.

There are other applications where the output is taken at the emiter where the signal is not inverted (in phase) with respect to the input signal. This configuration, generally, has no gain or has what is called "unity gain". Sometimes you see this when separate stages need to be impedance matched for maximum efficiency.

The transistor is first "biased" or configured for a specific amount of gain and the output signal is taken at the collector with a higher amplitude than the input at the base.

Instructions for Centrios Atomic Clock?

This didn't work for me. Here's what worked for my Centrios Atomic Global travel alarm clock with dual time:

A. Set time zone to "US".

  1. In regular time mode (not alarm or dual time modes), press and hold "Set" until the tiny country code, indicating time zone, starts blinking either "JP", "US", "GB", or "DE" for Japan, US, Great Britain, or DEutschland/Germany, respectively.

  2. Press "Adjust" repeatedly until "US" is blinking.

  3. Press "Set" and the "US" will stop blinking and turn solid.

  4. Now you can set the language by pressing "Set" repeatedly to cycle through "GB" for English, "FR" for French, "DE" for German, "ES" for Spanish, and "IT" for Italian.

  5. Press "Mode" to return to normal clock mode.

B. Set the specific US time zone.

  1. In normal clock mode (NOT alarm or "dual" time modes) displaying the day of the week (such as "WED" for Wednesday), press and release (don't hold) "Set".

  2. The day of the week should BRIEFLY change to "PA" in large letters in the upper left, indicating the default Pacific time zone. This will quickly revert to the day of the week! You can leave the Pacific time zone selected, or go to the next step.

  3. Before the "PA" disappears, quickly press "Adjust" repeatedly to cycle among "MO", "CE", "EA", and back to "PA", for MOuntain, CEntral, EAstern, and PAcific time zones, respectively. Stop when you reach the desired time zone.

  4. After a second or two, the US time zone will revert to the day of the week.

  5. Press "Receive" to try to get the time code signal from WWVB in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA. The station is operated by the US government and continuously transmits a low-frequency code that radio-controlled clocks like the Centrios "Atomic Global" travel alarm use to automatically set the time.

  6. The time code takes a full minute to transmit/receive, so it can take some time for the clock to set itself. The signal is clearer at night and during cold weather, so be patient. It might help to place the clock over night in a window roughly facing Colorado.

Well first of all use the red and the black to connecty to the battery and then get a motion toy get the wires from there take out black and red then add your own plug it in where the origanals wore hopok up a larger battery or power source and walla technically a supe inovention!
