How do you remove the horn pad in the center of the steering wheel from a 1988 Dodge Ram 50 truck?

I'm no expert at fixing cars, but I just pried the rubber part off. It's a cover (or sleeve) that wraps around a plastic thing that creates that weird rhombus shape. Just keep pulling at it and it will come off. My horn is ON constantly and I can't figure out why. That's what made me try to take it apart in the first place. I was able to get the horn pad off, and the brass noise-maker part and even see some wires and connections. But I have yet to control the horn. So I just removed the fuse and don't drive it alot. Anyway, hope that helps! Let me know if you have any (inexpensive) solutions for me.

How do you clean the throttle positioning sensor on a 2004 dodge 3500?

    • 1

Raise the hood of the Ram. Remove the lid from the air filter box by hand. Pull the tabs off of the lid and separate it from the air filter box. Remove the small breather tube attached to the air intake tube, about halfway between the engine and air filter lid. Loosen the air intake tube from the throttle body assembly, by loosening the hose clamp around the intake tube. Use a 1/4-inch drive ratchet and socket to loosen the clamp, then pull the tube free by hand.

    • 2

Remove the throttle position sensor electronic connector from the sensor. Simply pull the connector off of the sensor by hand. Remove the two TPS mounting bolts, using a 1/4-inch drive ratchet and deep well socket. Turn the bolts counterclockwise until they are completely removed from the throttle body and sensor. Pull the TPS off of the side of the throttle body.

    • 3

Hold the TPS in one hand, and spray the sensor with an aerosol can of dielectric cleaner. Spray the sensor side of the TPS which mounts into the throttle body. Spray the electrical connector end that plugs into the TPS with the dielectric cleaner spray. Allow the parts to sit for no less than two minutes.

    • 4

Reinstall the throttle position sensor into the mounting hole on the throttle body. Install the two mounting bolts onto the sensor. Tighten the bolts with a 1/4-inch drive ratchet and socket until they are snug, then turn the ratchet 1/4-turn farther. The "snug-and-a-quarter" tightening method is perfect for this piece, in order to tighten the part without damaging the brittle mounting tabs on the sensor. Install the TPS electrical connector onto the sensor by simply pushing it on with your fingers.

Reinstall the air intake tube onto the throttle body, and tighten the hose clamp with a 1/4-inch drive ratchet and socket. Install the air filter box lid at the opposite end of the intake tube. Tighten the air filter lid straps by hand. Install the small breather tube into the intake hose, about halfway between the engine and air filter box lid.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dielectric spray will clean the corrosion and oxidation off of automotive electronic devices and connectors. Dielectric spray is available at most auto parts stores.

Things You'll Need
  • 1/4-inch drive ratchet and deep well socket set
  • 1 can aerosol dielectric cleaner

Costco put on the wrong size tire on my truck What damage will this do to the truck's differential?

If both rear tires are the same size, your differential will not suffer, but your speedometer may not be accurate and your gear ratios will not be what they were designed to be, so that could cause strain on the transmission ( and clutch, if you have a clutch.)
If the rear tires are not the same size, that would make the differential turn on the straightway as if you were constantly turning a corner.

---I'm sorry but whoever put this answer doesnt know what they were talking about (No offense meant). You'd probably know if they put different size tires on as your truck would be sitting cockeyed. And if the tires are just the same different size than it will NOT do any damage, your speedometer will just be incorrect. The differential and tranny will run exactly the same no matter what size tire you put on, you will just need to recalibrate your speedometer if you want it to be correct (if you dont care and can figure out how fast you're goin, I wouldn't bother).

How do you change oil for 1996 Intrepid?

There are two ways...the correct legal way and an easy way. For the easy way, Pull up to a ditch, straddle it, craw under, unscrew the oil pan bolt, dump oil on the ground, replace the bolt, tighten securely. Dump in fresh oil, drive away QUICKLY before you get caught. (just kidding...NEVER do that!!!) Correct way: Take vehicle in for proper professional service at a trusted shop or, carefully jack up front end on a hard level surface, insert 2 jack stands under solid frame or suspension arms. Lower jack until weight of vehicle is supported by stands, take 2 pumps on jack to take up slack. Carefully crawl under, locate oil pan bolt, unbolt same and drain oil into specially designed oil catching pan (less than $12 at WalMart). Wait until oil drips are all but stopped, wipe exces oil from pan hole, insert bolt, tighten securely, remove oil pan and yourself from under car. Raise jack until stands are free from car, remove stands, carefully lower car. Start car, check for leaks...don't race engine when starting...repeat procedure in 3000 miles, but you should also change the filter each time! Garageman Rick

How can you disable the drip sensor in a enteral feeding pump?

== == What an interesting question. Since this isn't an 'on' or 'off' situation, I would have to ask the manufacturer, although they may be reluctant to tell you how. I might try to play it up like you are a tech, and are having problems with the sensor. Tell them you need to 'temporarily' disable it and see where it leads you. Good luck, I'd be interested to know how it works out, but I'm afraid its probably built into the chip that controls the unit.

I hope this doesn't end up as a 'Law & Order' episode

How do you check the codes on a Dodge Durango?

To check the code on the 2004 Dodge Durango you can also KEY from the on to start position 4 times (eg. Off to start, off to start, off to start, off) and the code should show up in the odometer reading. For example I just had the MIL come on and I did the KEY thing and found the code was P 0456. If you don't see something try turn the key again three times and then on the fourth turn leave it in the start position. It should show up. the durango need to be pluged into a type of computer that can communicate with the powertrain control module (pcm) if you have an engine malfunction light on. the drb will give you a code, the code will give you an area of the vehicle to inspect ie p0456 (large evaporitive emidssion leak detected) then you will have to inspect that system to find the cause of the code

A whining is coming from the rear-end of 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 it gets louder on acceleration and over powers the engine noise After drive felt the differential and it was hot any ideas?

I had a friend with the same noise his rear rotors were glazed over he got them cut and it went away. Don't know about the differential but the calipers may also be dragging witch is causing it to work harder

How do you set and check the timing on a dodge spirit 1992 2.5?

REMOVE THE TIMING BELT UPPER HALF COVER, TAKE THE NUMBER 1 SPARKPLUG OUT, TURN THE CAM SPROCKET UNTIL THE SLOT IN THE CAM SPROCKET IS ALIGNED WITH THE TOP CENTER OF THE HEAD OR VALVE COVER. LOOK AT THE #1 PISTON TO MAKE SURE IT'S AT THE TOP OF THE SHAFT. TAKE OF THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP, THE ROTOR SHOULD BE POINTING TO THE #1 CYLINDER PLUG WIRE. WHEN ALL OF THESE ARE IN LINE, THEN YOU HAVE THE CORRECT TIMING. FIRING ORDER IS 1-3-4-2.

How do you change the oil on a 1987 virago 535?

I assume the question refers to changing the engine oil. Beside that, there is oil in the final transmission, in the hydraulic brake on the front, in the front fork and in the rear shock absorbers.

Now, regarding the engine oil: you need to remove the oil filler cap (shifter side, on the front top part of the engine cover) and the oil drain plug (shifter side, bottom of the engine block, approximately below the double bolts that hold the footrest, behind it there's a funny shaped cover).

You should preferably do the operation after having run the engine a little, to have the oil warm and fluid. Collect the oil in a suitable pan, replace the drain plug, refill with oil until oil level is between max and min levels (you can read it on the small observation window on the engine block, shifter side, front-bottom - gear-shaped if empty, dark if full), replace the filler cap. Level should be checked with the bike UPRIGHT, not at an angle.
