back of engine below throttle cable hard to change, i paid a mechanic to change.part cost about 40.00.

After removing the tires, your going to have to remove the calipers. Remove the cap from your master cylinder and lightly tap the calipers until they loosen and come off. Make sure to check your brake cylinder, bleeder valve and the rubber coated brake line before replacing. Next take some soapy water and a scrub brush and scrub down the lug nut studs to remove any loose dirt and rust. DO NOT SPRAY WITH WD40. It is flammable and you do not want to use it anywhere there is going to be alot of friction. After that, take a rubber mallet, NOT A METAL HAMMER (this will damage your rotors) and tap all along the rotors both inside and out until it comes loose. Then just remove by hand. Hope it helps.

Under the radio,in center console.

pull the rubber hose off the egr valve,speed up the engine then let it go backto idle.is there any change.the egr or the solenoid that operates it could be at fault.you can also press up under the valve,it's spring loaded to check if it's stuck. good luck paul g

below the alternator which is located near the firewall

replace blower motor resistor. It is under the passenger side foot well.

The voltage regulator is built into the alternator on all Contours, no matter what year or engine.

no where in the world you can find this unique bulb. ......

Check the coolant level, the cooling system hoses and the radiator, if it's fine you need to check the thermostat.

Hey Michael==TAke the wheels off and pull the drums off. If they are rusted on, some WD40 and a hammer are helpful. If the shoes have worn groves in the drums and that is what is holding them, you have to turn the adjusters backwards to back off the shoes. Sometimees it is necessary to just pry the drums off and put new springs on when you reinstall them.{But you have ot know how the springs are positioned.You may need a shop manual available at the parts store} GoodluckJoe

in the fuel tank. the fuel pump is in the fuel tank which is located under the rear seat. once you remove the seat it will be right there.

...everyone should have a manual for their vehicle(parts store or dealer), and a local library should have professional shop manuals available in the REFERENCE section for free...make copies of the appropriate sections...read up and good luck :)

Several things can cause such a leak. Perhaps the most common is simply a loose or defective fuel filler cap! Check the gasket on the cap to make sure it's okay, and tighten the cap until it clicks after you've gassed up. You can't over-tighten it, so give it several clicks to make sure it's tight. If you have any doubt about it, get a replacement cap.

The next thing to check would be the hoses. Look for any cracks or splits, and check all the connections for looseness or breaks. Also, check the Evap Canister itself for any cracks or other damage.

From there, you'll need to check the Vapor Management Valve. With no power to it, it should be closed. If you can blow through it at all, it's probably bad. There's also a Evap Canister Vent Valve: it should be normally open.

Finally, check the wires from the Vapor Management Valve to the PCM. Make sure they have good continuity, and aren't shorted to each other or to ground. Check the wires to the Evap Canister Vent Valve as well.

If you haven't found the answer after eliminating all these, it's time to take the car to your favorite shop!

Go to your library and on their page type Alldata in search and they have info on any automobile. Alldata software is used by most repair shops which they have to pay for but the library has for free. This is where I go for my auto info.

With engine oil filter change :

The 2.0 litre four cylinder takes ( 4.5 U.S. quarts of 5W-30 )

The 2.5 V6 ( 5.8 quarts )

OK this is really easy for you to do if you have 4 cylinder engine. 1 Change the air filter 2 Change the fuel filter 3 Change your spark plugs and wires 4 Change your o2 sensors 5 Change the oil and oil filter 6 Change the Transmission filter and gasket and transmission fluid 7 Have your battery and alternator check at your local Oreillys,Auto Zone, Advance stores for free. And last have the vacuum lines and intake cleaned by your local mechanic shop with Valvoline's intake cleaner that hooks up to your vacuum line from your pcv valve. Also it is also cheaper to have your alternator,starter rebuilt than replaced with a new one. Shop wisely where you buy and Remember Oreillys will price match it if you can find it cheaper some where else.

The fuel pump fuse for a 1998 Mercury Mystique is located in the main fuse panel near the hood release. It prevents the fuel circuit from being overloading and damaging the pump.

4 1/2 quarts with filter change.

it is possibly over heating

I would say it is a snap. It should be on the fuel line before carb & it may have (2) clips on each end. sometimes you can pull the little can type off and push the new one on.

Try checking with your local dealer. But i have a 98 and the pump acces was under the back seat. Realy easy to work on ,just becareful when removing the clips for the fuel lines , cush in the green tabs then slide out the line.
