What should a brake job cost on a 1994 Escort?
Usually Just Brakes will charge $99 sometimes more if rotors or calipers are damaged = Front Brakes & Rotors = I just had mine replaced (14" Rotors), cost me $74.23 for the parts. 2 New Rotors, and 4 pads. Now changing them is a different story. My 1996 pads are mounted on tracks, that slide left and right. Held by 2 pins each. Really scary, especially if they are half-frozen.

What is code 118 on a ford escort mean and How do you fix it?
Looking in the Haynes Manual there are 2 code 118: one is for a 1.9L and it says "118, O,C ECT indicates -40 degree F/circuit grounded" and the other is a generic code for 1996 and later model ford escorts and it reads "P0118 Engine coolant temperature circuit, high input" but it doesn't say how to fix it. Your best bet would be to take it to a mechanic. Hope this helps.

How to take off a 2002 cavalier dashboard?
If it is the same as a 2000/2001 - You will need a "Torx/Star" drill bit or driver to remover these screws... (STEP1-)Open drivers door (STEP2-)Use flathead screwdriver to pop-off panel where the fuse door is. (Pop the whole thing off...not just the fuse door) (STEP3-)Unscrew the screw closest to the A/C vent (STEP4-)On top of your dash, there are 2 or 3 screws with the Defrost vent...remove them and the vent (STEP5-)Open passenger door (STEP6-)Repeat step 2 (minus the fuse door) (STEP7-)Repeat step 3 (STEP8-)Open glove compartment (STEP9-)There are 2 or 3 screws on the top perimiter of the glove box...remove them (STEP10-)Using a long screwdriver or nutdriver (not sure anymore), unscrew the two "brass-looking" screws INSIDE the glove box(on the roof of the glove box) they are right in the middle. DONT DROP THEM OR THEY WILL BE GONE FOREVER! (STEP11-)That does it for the top part...just start pulling it off (If you here snaps, its normal. Because it is also held in by clips) (STEP12-)Unscrew the screws all along the top of the front dash trim (STEP13-)Now start pulling the dash trim away from the dash (STEP14-)While it is off, you will have to unsnap the dimmer control (from behind) and unplug the cig lighter (From the back. Also, the actual lighter stays in the dash trim) ENJOY! and yes, you have to do steps 1 thru 11. if not, you will not be able to get to the screws holding on the front dash trim. It sounds tough. After you do it the first time, its no sweat. I have actually timed myself doing it in under 2 minutes...
It doesn't actually "control" anything. It provides the power side of the circuit for a number of things like ignition coil and the power side of the injectors. The power that the injector fuse provides stays on steady when you turn on the key, and several things feed off of that fuse circuit. Control of the functions is done from the ground side. The PCM controls the injectors by pulsing the ground to the injectors. The ignition module sends a pulsed ground to the coil to fire it. If you have something blowing the power fuse, you are going to have to obtain a wiring diagram for that circuit, find out what is being fed by that fuse circuit, and isolate the short by disconnecting the connectors in the system, until the short goes away. Once you get it narrowed down to a section, you will have to inch along that part of the harness until you find it.
How do you fix the rear brake lights staying on without touching the brake pedal on a Ford Windstar?
I found that on my 2001 Windstar that there is no adjustment for the brakelight switch and that the problem was that the brake pedal return spring had a very slight amount of rust on it and needed lubrication(I prefer silicon spray) and that it also needed to be budged a bit with a screw driver.
More than likely it is your brake light switch out of adjustment. it is located under the dash on the brake pedel itself it is not breaking connection which it should be simple and you can fix it yourself and save yourself some money.
It's usually the brake pedal is sticking or you might just need to adjust the pin when you apply your brakes it makes those lights stays on. sometimes you can spray a wd-40 and it'll go away.. this pin is located on top of the brake pedal when you look underneath the steering wheel column or panel....hoped i helped you on this one...
The brake light switch may be either stuck or broken.
Get down in the driver's footwell, and follow the brake pedal arm up under the dash. Look for the switch (see link for a picture), see if the moving arm on it moves freely as the pedal is depressed. If not, try spraying some lube on it (WD-40 or the like) and working it to get it to move freely.
If the arm won't move freely, or the lights don't turn on even when you move the arm, the switch should be removed and replaced.
need to replace brk light switch and have battry and alternator tested
locate the switch on the bracket under neath the dash. it should have two wires coming infrom it. remove electrical connector, remove the clip and it should come out, reverse to install
All brake light switches are mounted either on the brake pedal itself or right next to it with some kind of "tab" on the brake pedal making the connection to the switch. On yours there may be some plastic decorative piece hiding it so remove the trim and you should see the switch.
Answerlook just above your brake pedal their is a pressure switch that closes when you step on the pedal. it has two wires of the back look at the plastic bushings($4.00 at dealer or the switch $15-$20 for parts)
AnswerMy favorite trick is to leave the emergency brake handle up just a little bit - after I panic, I remember I had actually used the e-brake when I had the van jacked up. ;)
AnswerThe brake lights are triggered by an actuator that is mounted in front of the brake pedal arm. Check the wiring connection to the switch. You can remove the wire connector and jump the wires inside it. If the lights work when the wires are jumped, the switch is bad.
locate the switch on the bracket under neath the dash. it should have two wires coming in from it. remove electrical connector, remove the clip and it should come out, reverse to install
AnswerIt is on the steering column, but those rarely go bad. In fact, I have never had to replace one. Almost always it is because you have no brake lights. Possibly a bad brake light switch.
Answerremove plastic crowl above brake pedal unplug switch remove, replace switch

They make replacements that are split in half, but they aren't generally recommended. What's best (unfortunately) is to remove the shaft and replace it with a stock cv boot. If the cv boot has been open to the elements for a while, damage in the cv joint might have occured.

Where do you add tranny fluid for 93 escort lx?
Both the automatic and manual transmissions take Mercon Automatic tranny fluid. The automatic is added by putting a small funnel in the dipstick tube. The manual has to have the speed sensor taken off the top of the transmission to fill. The speed sensor is held in with a clamp and a 10 mm bolt. Carefully pry the speed sensor and speedometer drive out of the opening. They are really hard to get out. To figure out if the level is right you fill it between the top and bottom of the drive gear.
