The stock speakers in a Festiva are 4 inch all around

The problem is likely an electrical one - check your spark plug leads from the distributor to the plugs.

I bought a 1989 Festiva LX which has the same 1.3L engine as the 1988 Festiva, and I used nothing but 10W30 Pennzoil in it. I changed both the Oil and the Oil Filter religiously and got 269,000 miles on that engine.

The fuse you need to change is the in the second row of fuses, the second one from the left, it should be a pink or red 10

Did you buy a new flasher yet? If not try that. The flasher should be located on the inner firewall slightly above the the interior fuse panel. If that doesn't work post here again and I will try to find the specific fuse for you to check.

Follow the top (right hand) radiator hose to it's end and there it is. Will have to remove air intake assembly and remove battery and distributor cap to access bottom bolt.

on drivers side firewall

The alternator has pretty much the same setup as does most 'real' cars. Two ears that have bolts mounting it to the block, and one adjusting bolt. Remove all electrical connectors (battery disc) then physically remove the alternator. There should be lots of room to remove it. Good luck.

first remove the wheel. next remove the hub nut in the middle of the rotor. it will be bent to keep it from twisting loose so you will first have to straighten the bend. next remove the nut. once that is all done install a flange on a slide hammer and bolt it to the rotor where the wheel is normally bolted to it. using the slide hammer will free the rotor from the spindle exposing the bearings

On the right side of the car under the bumper is where you should find the horn. Then all you have to do is disconnect the electrical connector and pop on the bolt. Then reinstall in reverse order.

A well maintained car would last you 350,000km to 400,000km. But do expect to change a few parts.

There is a few place you can find a diagram if a strut assembly. You can find a strut assembly diagram online or at an auto part store.

I just stumbled onto this forum by accident, so I don't know how old this question is. I just pulled the drivers door off my wifes Festiva after she backed it into a gas pump with the door open. (She has trouble adjusting between fueling her Suburban and her Festiva). You just open the door all the way and take the hinge bolts out of the A pillar. Beware, that little door is heavy and you will need help catching it when it comes loose and when reinstalling it. Another thing to consider is the fact that the little unibody car tends to spring out of shape in places if there has been any body damage. The A pillar was bent enough that I had quite a time getting the hinges to align back with the bolt holes. Good luck, Steve

Drum brakes are meant to self adjust when applying the brake in reverse, however you can access the adjuster from the back side of the brake plate through a rubber grommet, it is hard to see but in there there is a little gear looking thing that you can manually turn with a flathead screwdriver to adjust the brake pads. If access is too difficult then you will have to remove the drum to get at it, im thinking that once you get in there you will find that it is pretty dirty which is causing the adjusters not to work, and the shoes are worn as well.

The Festiva motor has 8 block to transmission bolts and 3 motor mount bolts, take those out and lift. You also have to remove all wiring, cooling system hoses, fuel lines, ac lines, etc that are in the way.

You need to remove the speedometer sending unit from the transmission - this hole is the hole you put new fluid in.

Trace where the speedometer cable (mechanical cable, not electrical) is going, it starts on the firewall behind the dash cluster.

There should be a few screws around the housing of the brake light/indicator housing then it is as simple as taking the bulb out and replacing it with the appropriate one.

Have the timing checked and adjusted by a mechanic.

you may have to replace the lifter valves if they are getting stuck

The fuel filter on a 1988 Ford Festiva is located on the drivers side lower fire wall. The bracket is typically to rusted that you may wish to consider relocating the filter, or just putting in an aftermarket in-line filter.

4 bolts, 2 goto transmission bell housing, 2 are nuts holding a bracket to the transmission body. 1 ignition wire that can be pulled off without effort, and a single positive wire held onto module with a nut. hope this helps ...{ASMDEMON}

My 1989 festiva owner manual states: 3.9 quarts with a filter change.

Hard to give an answer with no info. What vehicle? year, make, model? What position is the heater control in when a/c cycling occurs? Usually, if you are using your defrost cycle, the air conditioner runs in order to dry the air. In some newer cars, the a/c will run in most settings of the heater control to dry the air and make heating/cooling of the interior more efficient. Hope this helps.

The fuel pump switch is under the speaker grille behind the driver's side rear seat. It pops up in response to impact and needs to be reset before the car will start again. Just locate the button and push it down.

For the 88-89 models they use a very early OBD system. It is call feedback carb, and it is fairy easy to read. You need to locate the single wire plug next to the brake fluid reservior, it should just be dangling there next to another plug that isn't connected to anything. place a jumper wire between that single plug and a good ground. Now just go turn the key to ACC, and watch the check engine light. if you see one flash, then a short pause, and the light flashes 5 times, that would be an example of an O2 sensor. there are a handfull of codes, you can look them up online or run to an autoparts store and peek in a repair manual and run away. good luck.
