Ford Tempo

It would be a good idea to pick up a Ford Tempo owners guide or repair manual to find the location. Not only that, but if there are future problems you'll be able to fix them considering the repair is not major. I know Ford Tempo thermostats go for about $15 bucks. http://www.93Tempo.Citymax.com

chilton service manual 8271 page 9-14. been their done that twice i own a 1992 tempo gl for four years. i have this manual and a scanner i done not no if this webmaster will allow pdf files. acrobat 6 is my prefered pdf. how do i find out.

You can find the air conditioner fuse for your 1990 Ford in the fuse box. The fuse box is located beneath the drivers side dashboard. The fuse box will also contain an air conditioner relay switch.

your going to need a t-40 torx socket.

because everyone elses 1993 ford tempos stall when they idle. learn to drive with one foot on the gas and one on the brake like I do in my '93 tempo. keep the RPM at 1000 and it won't stall out.

On the left and slightly below the steering wheel, next to the buttons to adjust the side mirrors. It says "power door."

Look where the top radiator hose connects to the engine(water pump).

Check to see if power steering fluid is at correct level

Could be belt is glazed and slipping

Could be a bad power steering pump

Could be a bad steering rack

Could be worn front end parts

The timing marks are most likely listed someplace inside the engine bay. Pop the hood and look at some of the diagrams/writing, it may be there. As for the fuel filter, there is only 1 which is located to the passenger side of the engine compartment about halfway back, it's a round cylinder shape and has 1 inlet hose and 1 outlet hose. There is also 1 fuel pump which is located in the gas tank itself. The cutoff switch for that is located in the trunk on the left side, pull back some carpeting and you'll see it, that is of course if the sticker isn't still on there telling you where it's at.

Diagrams for the 1992 Ford Temp serpentine belt replacement can be found online. One site that shows the diagram is 2 Car Pros. There should also be a diagram under the hood of the car.

The adjustments are made automatically by this cars computer and can not be changed or adjusted. Should be 14.7 to 1

If they have not changed from the '89, then take off the glove box door. Its there. Just remove all the small screws then pull it out.

you can try to tap on the motor with a stick, or a rod , something similar and a hammer,lightly, only works sometimes,try rolling up the window as you tap.It will involve taking the door panel off. May need a tool to remove interior parts.

The oil pump is inside the engine and is driven off a shaft, usually off the distributor. If the oil pump has stopped functioning it usually means that the pump is damaged beyond repair or that the shaft has slipped or broken.

How Many cylinders does the Tempo have?

1. Remove alternator drive belt. 2. Place alternator in upper most position. 3. Remove radiator overflow bottle. 4. Remove power steering pump drive belt. 5. Disconnect return line from pump. 6. Completely back off power steering pump pressure line nut. The pressure line will separate when the pump bracket is removed. 7. Remove power steering pump mounting bolts and pump. 8. Reverse procedure to install.

The thermostat on a 1997 Ford F-250 is located under the upper hose assembly in the radiator. To locate the thermostat, drain the radiator halfway and remove the hose at the top of the radiator.
