How do you remove the heater core in a 1988 Ford Thunderbird without taking the dash out or having to recharge the ac system?

You can't get there from here. The dash has got to come out, or at least partially, enough to work in behind it. I usually don't remove a dash entirely. I usually take it loose enough to "swing" it out of my way, lay it over on the passenger's side seat. I squeeze in behind the dash to access the heater core. As far as the A/C is concerned, I can't remember that far back to rememeber which side of the firewall that evap core is. If it is outside the firewall, under the hood, then you shouldn't have to touch the A/C anyway, but if it is inside the passenger's compartment, in the same box as the heater core, you have to discharge it.

How do you turn off the check engine light on a 1996 Thunderbird?

The fastest way for my 96 T-Bird is to disconnect my battery for about 1 minute. HOWEVER, if there truly is a problem, you should expect the light to come back on soon. I had the light come on when I had not driven the car for a couple of weeks. Then engine ran rough for the first couple of minutes and the light came on. I disconnected the battery and that solved it. First you need to find the code in the computer that is causing it to be on The simplest thing is to check the aircleaner, a fairly clean air cleaner caused the check engine light to stay lit, when it was replaced the light worked as it is supposed to. Pull the codes from the computer, match the code to the troubleshooting procedure, follow the procedure to find the source. Repair the source, light will go out if that was the only problem. There are "monitors" or self tests the computer runs the car through a drive cycle, if a problem occurs, it may not run all of the self tests until that problem is taken care. Therefore, another problem may exist. It is emission related. OR hook up a scanner that is capable of clearing codes, and hope that none are still active. The " check engine light" is by far one of the most misunderstood technological advances by the public. I am sure I will revise this as time goes on, as it is an in-depth understanding for the public. It is a warning light that is illuminated when there is a problem with the EMISSION SYSTEM only. Emission system being the pollution control system. Don't get a hard on against it as it is a good thing once you understand it. One point that was brought up a a recent meeting of technicians was that the amount of hydrocarbons is greater when the gas cap is left off than when the engine is running. Hydrocarbons are part of pollution emitted as gasoline evaporates. Going a step farther, one facet of the emission system is the "Evaporative" portion. This is when the fumes from the gasoline are leaking from the system into the outside air. This is one part of the emission system that can trigger a check engine light. I would say that about 7% of the vehicles that have a check engine light are the result of a loose or inadequate gas cap. But understand that many scenarios are possible with the "check engine light" The vehicle's powertrain computer (note that some vehicles have 17 different computers) will run a series of self-tests. They will only run under certain criteria. And they can be vastly different from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some self-tests are not run until preceding ones have run successfully. So if there is a problem in one particular area that is preventing another self test from running, you can have a situation where one problem is fixed, but another still exists. If you fix a problem and drive the car through a drive cycle that sets the monitor (or self test) the light will go off as it passes that criteria that triggered it in the first place. After 1996, the auto industry went to a idea called OBD II (on board diagnostics). This was to get all the manufacturers onto a similar plane for troubleshooting and powertrain control. While they still differ vastly, many corrections and adaptations were made for technicians to better fix the check engine light problems. Prior to this there were so many different and poor troubleshooting data from a check engine light problem that resolving the problem was much more difficult. Many early warning light of this nature were set to illuminate based on mileage. An Oxygen sensor was one of the things that were meant to be replaced when that mileage was hit. This is much like many current "Change oil lights? that are set based on a pre-set mileage. Actually the fastest way is to disconect the negative side of battery. Then turn the key in the ignition like you were starting the car. Do this for 10 to 15 sec. This will resest the computer. If light keeps coming on go to an autozone or checker and the will check the codes for free.

What is the cause of low or no brake pedal pressure on a 1964 Thunderbird when the master cylinder and all the lines have been replaced and bled?

I know you may think I'm wack, but you didn't mention brake fluid?

Just and idea AnswerNot sure of the question here but are you saying the brakes are soft and you can't get a resistance to your applying the brakes? Is this power brakes/ The vacume hoses may be bad. or the power assist chamber. Just and idea AnswerNot sure of the question here but are you saying the brakes are soft and you can't get a resistance to your applying the brakes? Is this power brakes/ The vacume hoses may be bad. or the power assist chamber. A couple more ideas...Power brakes were standard equipment on the 1964 Bird. If your brakes just aren't working period, you've either got a fluid leak somewhere in the system or you need to bleed further...start by bleeding the master cylinder. Easiest way to do this is to take it off the car and "bench bleed" it. Put vinyl tubing into the ports where you would hook the brake lines up, then run the vinyl tubing back into the fluid reservoir. Main thing is to keep the reservoir full, or your bleed will be for nothing...the minute it sucks air, your back at square one. With the master clamped (gently) in a vise, actuate the master by pressing the piston in and then releasing it...until you don't see bubbles in the vinyl tubing. Leave the fluid in the reservoir after you're done bench bleeding; then install it back in the car (taking care not to spill any fluid..especially on the paint!), connect the brake lines, and finish bleeding the rest of the system. Not a bad idea to make sure the adjustment is correct on the rod between the booster and the master before you reinstall it. That can cause the brakes to be ineffective too.

Check your flex lines too...make sure they're not bulging when you press the pedal down. That'll cause the brakes not to work for sure. You mentioned that all the lines are new, but there are rubber flex lines....especially the one just forward of the rear axle. If they're weak or leaking, that could cause a low or no brake condition.

If the brakes work fine, but just seems like the pedal is too soft...or even too touchy, look at the brake booster, vacuum lines to the booster, and the vacuum connections on the booster. A bad booster can make the brakes feel too touchy or soft. These are just ideas from things I've run into on my own 64.

One more thing, make sure you keep your rear brake linings up to snuff and your emergency brake adjusted; if your master goes bad or your brake fluid gets too low, the brakes are gone completely...and you'll have to use the emergency brake to stop the car. Hope this helps.

Where can you find a fuse box - panel diagram for a 1986-1995 Ford Taurus?

If you are sitting in car down at your left knee under dash is the box for the fuses

According to Chilton's Repair Manual, the fusebox was unchanged from 1986-1995.

The Taurus Club website has scanned images of the Owners Manual pages for the fusebox - see "Related Link" below

Answerlook in local library most have auto manuals AnswerLOOK IN THE OWNERS MANULE OR IF THE FUSE BOX IS COVERD AT THE BACK OF THIS COVER SHOULS BE A DIAGRAM

Look under the dash to the left of the steering column, you will find the fuses box can be titled down for ease or replacement

AnswerGo to a Ford dealer service dept and ask them to photocopy the page out of their EVTM(Electrical Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual).

under the hood in the black box near the battery! the top cover should be labled with the description of the locations for each individual fuse!

1988 Ford Taurus fuseboxBelow the dash right above the parking brake; there is a small metal bar with instructions on it which needs to be pulled in order to lower and access the fusebox. You may have to reach under the dash and pull down gently on the fusebox while pulling the bar in the direction indicated. AnswerThere is a fuse panel under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. You have to push up on a bar and then pull it down till it clicks. There should be a black cover over it that just pops off.

Owners manual

Answerdrivers side in front of firewall AnswerGo to:http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/New%20Wires/New%20Wires/Wires/fortaurus89-95.htm AnswerThe dealer has a book called an EVTM(Electrical Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual). Thsi is a book the technicians use and it contains, among other things, fuse box diagrams. I am sure they would be willing to run off a photo copy of that page for you free of charge. If you wnat the whole owner's manual, some are still available to order. I am not sure if you can still get 1994 though, but it's worth a try. AnswerThe owners manual is available from the nearest dealership, but they are not cheap. What you really want, if I understand your question correctly, is to be able to tell what each fuse goes to. To solve this I would recommend either a Haynes or Chilten service manual available from your local auto parts store. Most of these manuals cost around $25.00, and contain lots of valuable information besides a diagram of the fuse pannel and a listing of what fuse goes to what.

Good LuckPhillip Goin

There is one under the left side of the dash and one located under the hood close to the battery.

How do you connect a 1964 Thunderbird radio?

There are two cable connectors. One will have two wires with blue/red strip and black wire. The black wire is the 12 volt power source and the blue/red strip is for the internal radio back light. The other connector may consist of either 2 wires or 4 wires depending on if the car has the optional rear speaker. These wires are black with a green strip. The only other connection is the antenna lead which plugs into the rear of the radio.

Why buchholz relay installation is slidely incliend?

If you look carefully at a Buchholz Relay, it is not

'slightly inclined'. In fact, it is perpendicular. However, it is located in an inclined pipe between the transformer and the oil expansion tank above the transformer. The reason why the pipe is inclined is to allow any gas generated by a fault in the transformer to move upwards towards the expansion tank. This gas will then collect inside the relay, causing the warning float to move downward and trigger an alarm inside the substation.

How do you install an aftermarket stereo in a 1996 Ford Thunderbird?

The Stock radio has two holes on either side of the unit. there are tools called "din" tools that you just stick in there, put pressure on them, and the stock radio just lifts out.

I happen to know this because everywhere i go to look up how to remove my radio, it gives me this information. However, I'm trying to find out how to remove my aftermarket one that came with the car.

after the stock one is out, you just hook up the harness to one you buy for like 10 bucks, and buy a spacer/adapter so the radio fits right.

im sorry if i dont help, but i thought i could
