You have to remove the transmission pan. Jack the car up and then place jack stands under the car for safety. Then looking up at the transmission you will see the pan there are bolts holding the pan to the housing remove the bolts and the pan will drop off this will let about 4 quarts out there is also a filter in the valve body that has to be replaced. Be careful with the pan gasket it is reusable. This can get pretty messy when the pan drops so hold the pan and do not let it fall when removing. A trick I use is to take a electric oil pump used for removing oil on boat engines (cost $12.00 JC Whitney) and remove almost all the oil out through the fill tube that way when you drop the pan the remaining stays in pan and does not splatter all over you. when replacing the pan and gasket another trick is to get four (3 ) inch bolts cut the heads off screw one in each corner this way when you put the pan and gasket back on this will guide the pan an keep the gasket from moving. Not really possible. There is an idle speed control on most 1988 v6 machines. If you are experiencing high idle, it may be a broken ISC. The idle speed is controlled by computer.

Try puting rearward pressure on the bottom of the seat bench (take a lot of force) tio release locking clips Lift up and remove bench

There should be bolts or clips securing the back of the seat exposed

Remove or release these and lift straight up on the rear of seat to release upper clips to remove rear of seat

The Ford 3.8 liter -V6 - firing order is ( 1 - 4 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 6 )

I believe the 1988 Ford Thunderbird is OBD I , EEC IV

( there is probably an EEC TEST connection in the engine compartment )

The plug for the computer is under the dash on the driver's side.

You may have a restriction in the oil system, which will starve the engine of oil.

Your problem could be one of many different things, the major problems could be: 1. If the shaking is speed related... an imbalanced tire (wheel) could be the cause. 2. You could have a bent axle. 3. Your tire casing could be separating from the tread. 4. Your tire rim could be loose. 5. You might need new shocks. 6. Your steering linkage components could be loose or worn or broken. Good Luck... these are just a few of the things that can cause your symtom.

Disconnect the battery. Turn key to on, stick a long screwdriver through a hole in the bottom of the steering column and pull out the entire key cylinder

It's towards the bottom front of the engine, next to the oil filter.

While underneath your car, look for a small silver cylinder left of the oil filter. This is the fuel filter housing and it is connected to the fuel pump.

Try searching eBay for the airbag itself and I'm sure there is guides on replacing them on the net you will have to search.new answer any steering column specialist will be able to help you

The thermostat is on the intake where the hose comes from the radiator to the engine. Look at the top of the radiator and follow the hose that goes from the radiator to the engine. the hose fits on a fitting on the intake of the engine. If you remove that fitting, there's a thermostat inside.

there are seven bolts in the dash, but have to take 2 bolts out that hold the fuse box plus 4 nuts that hold the steering column up and you can pull back the dash enough to get at the heater box and there 3 or 4 bolts that hold it in. then you can see 4 bolts on top of the heater core housing that you can take out. oh don't for get to disconnect the a/c hoses on the firewall and the bracket there are 2 nuts be careful. i did my wife's heater core in her 87 t-bird last week. if need pictures i have them okay at robdean2@hotmail.com

in order to remove a heater core, you must take apart the whole dash. when i tookout my heater core in my cougar i had a hard time and i cut the dash and later on i founf out that you take it all apart. that's all i know. Dustin from pa

You do not have to remove the strut. You have to take the pressure off the spring. To do this put a jack under the lower control arm and lift until the spring compress's then under the hood on top of the strut is a nut remove the nut and then carefully and slowly let the jack down , this will relieve the pressure on the strut and spring alowing you to remove the control arm safely. And always use jack stands to support the car.

It should be located in the oil pan. On my ranger its on the drivers side.
