disconnect negative side first.... then disconnnect all connections to the pos cable labelling as you go... replace with new cable... reconnect to battery.

If the battery is sulfated (or otherwise faulty) to such an extent that it calls for a continuous charge, the alternator never gets a chance to switch off. With the resposibilitiy to run continuously the alternator overheats and eventually fails. Never replace a faulty alternator without also checking the battery.

Move the drivers seat all the way back. Lay upside down, look between steering column and drivers side wheel well. The plastic cover has a list of fuse sizes and functions.

The IAT Sensor (Intake Air Temperature Sensor) is located inside of the air-cleaner assembly. You will see it near back (towards the cab of the car) when you lift up the air filter. If you are talking about the air charge sensor it mounts on the firewall passenger side and has a vac hose that runs to the base of the throttle body and a connector into the elec harness

It is located inside the fan motor housing. You can find it easily. The fan motor housing will have two sets of wires going into it (the wires go into those little plugs that you can remove). One of the sets of wires powers the fan, and the other set of wires goes to the blower motor resistor. The fan motor housing is located above the feet of the passenger. I usually end up lying upside down in the passenger seat with my head on the floor looking up towards the sky.

under the hood on the left(driver) side...should be a 5 sided black box wit clips that easily open

There should be a idle set screw on your application. If not, then this is done at the factory, and covered up so you cannot reset it. I believe on a 1989 there should be a thottle ajustment. Just follow your cable from the fire wall, should take you right to it.

Yes, the 1992 Geo Metro does have one air bag. There is only an airbag for the driver and not the passenger side.

Depends on what the problem is. It is either, defective bulbs, brake light switch, blown fuse, or wiring problem. Check the fuse first, then if all lights including the 3rd light are not working, suspect a defective or out of adjustment brake light switch. The switch is located somewhere on the brake pedal arm, or may be a pressure switch on the master cylinder.

It shouldn't be too hard. First you'll need to locate it on the tranny and remove the locks nuts holding it in place and any other connectors holding it to the tranny. Then just pull it through the firewall to the pedal and look and see how it's attached. Once you undo it, just install the new one in reverse order. You'll have to play around with the adjusting nuts to get it set where you want it.

You take out the transmissioon, take out the clutch, put a new one in, and put the transmission back in.

There may be a short circut in the wiring, which will be difficult to trace down. I would recommend taking the vehicle to an automotive electrical shop, where they have the specialized equipment and knowledge for solving this kind of problem quickly and completely. If you let someone mess around with it, you could end up with the wiring harness burned up, which is very expensive to fix.

The 5 speed manual gets better MPG over any Automatic Transmission. The engine size also has to deal with this, the 3 cyl is better than the 4 cyl models. There are so many things that effect the MPG of a vehicle, that you really can't answer which is best.

You have to find the alternator then look at where it is connected to the motor there will be a slide mechanism that you will have to loosen which will release the slack on the belt so you can get it off.

You most certainly do, it is called overdrive. You may be able to achieve high speeds in 4th gear, BUT you can also acheive those speeds in 5th gear but with lower RPMs, thus resulting in an increase in fuel economy

If you are referring to the Blower Motor, then there is a fuse and a Blower Motor Resistor Pack. If you are referring to the Radiator Fan Motor then there is a fuse and a thermal sensor. Please restate the question you want answered in a clearer manner.

Change the fuel filter and give it a tune-up. New cap, rotor, wires and plugs. While you're at it, put in a new air filter and PCV valve.
