How do you replace the lower control arm on a 94' GEO Prism?
First of all, get a manual - at least a Chilton's or Hayne's, if not a real shop manual. Basically, jack up the car on the affected side and remove the wheel. Use a good jack and a jackstand. My friend's boss got killed the other month when his car fell on him. - remove the three bolts holding the outside of the control arm to the ball joint. They are torqued down pretty hard. You will need a breaker bar 1/2", a good long 1/2" ratchet and some sockets 17mm & 19mm for this job, as well as a 10mm or 12mm (forget which) for later. - remove the bolts (2) holding the inside bushings of the control arm to the rest of the suspension. - undo the one (10 or 12mm bolt holding) metal plate that attaches between the unibody and the inner rear mounting point of the control arm. Installation is the reverse of removal. If you saw grease anywhere, clean it off and put new grease on. Wheel bearing grease should do it. That's it. Get an alignment if you really care about your tires. You may not need one, but you may experience uneven wear on that tire if it's off after the swap.
Where do you add transmission fluid to a 1999 Ford Mustang with manual transmission?
Somewhere on your engine will be a cap that says transmission fluid on it. Remove the cap and there should be a tube under it you can pour the fluid in. Check your dipstick (if you have one) to check the level of the fluid in the engine. Also check with your owner's manual to see how much fluid your transmission holds.

Manual transmissions don't use "transmission fluid", instead they use a Hypoid Gear Oil - usually 90 weight. The very short stick is sometimes labeled and sometimes not, but usually located near the transaxle in front wheel drive.

manual transmission don't use dipsticks, most likely have to fill it at the transmission you will see two plugs one is the drain plug the other is the check/fill plug more toward the top to center of the transmission.
99 mustangs use automatic transmission fluid in the manual transmissions and you have to use a tool that pushes the fluid up into the fill hole of the transmission as nothing else fits, u fill it with fluid and then use air pressure to push it up BE CAREFUL there are some manual transmissions that do use automatic transmission fluid check the specs before you do anything like that

How do you replace the alternator on a 1995 Geo Prism?
See Figure 4
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal from the battery.
Failure to disconnect the negative cable may result in injury from the positive battery lead at the alternator and may short the alternator and regulator during the removal process.
- Loosen the pivot bolt and the adjusting lock bolt.
- Remove the drive belt.
- Remove the alternator connector from the back of the alternator.
- Remove the 1 nut and alternator wire.
- Remove the 2 clips and the wire harness.
- Remove the 2 bolts and 1 nut, and remove the alternator from the mounting bracket.
To install:
- Place the alternator in its brackets and install the mounting bolts. Do not tighten them yet.
- Slip the belt back over the pulley. Pull outwards on the unit and adjust the belt tension. Tighten the mounting and adjusting bolts. Tighten the generator pivot mounting bolt to 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm) and the adjusting lock bolt to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
- Install the electrical leads and the negative battery cable.

Well...The answer and reply to the answer below do not take into account the fact that the bottom bolt is -not- reachable from beneath the car. A crescent wrench from the top, in the incredibly tiny space, is the only way I could find to get to it; however, the tiny space also limited lateral movement, which meant that (had I chosen to continue) I would have been standing there making little 1/8 turns all day. Your best bet is to buy the alternator for it, take it to a mechanic you trust, and ask him if he can take the 20 minutes or so (air tools are a blessing) to change it for you. Labor will be cost effective if he will agree that it won't take long to ONLY replace the alternator, and it will be done right.As far as metric or SAE goes, I found that SAE seemed to be a tighter fit. Keep the metrics handy if you find that it's a little too hard to get around the bolt.
Reply to theThis information helped me change my Geo Prism alternator. I might add that remember to have aset of metric sockets and box wrenches. The work space around the alternator is very confined. The bolt directly under the alternator is nearly impossible to see from above. Use a box end wrench to loosen this bolt. Thebolt threads into the belt/alternator tightening mechanism. The third bolt can barely be seen from above in front . This bolt can beloosened but do not remove it. This tightening bolt uses a metric socket and since it is right against the radiator be careful not to cut up your hands. Replacing the bottom bolt is tricky and I improvised using a piece of tape to hold in place the tightening nut the bolt threads into. Do not mount the to bolt until attaching the bottom bolt loosely!! Lat step is tighteniing the top bolt after tightening the alternator belt. I recheck all three bolts last and reconnect the electrical. Thanks to Mike I was able today June 12 install my new alternator. I'm 62 on a fixed income and a rusty mechanic whosaved about $75 or more in labor..Alternator at Napa parts store cost $140.00 including sales tax Thanks again!!You un-hook negative battery terminal first. Remove top bolt, it won't come out all the way, but will be out for enough to pull out unit later. You will need to un-hook the two electrical leads attached to the unit on the right, pull them out of the way. Then under the alternator (bottom bolt), is a bolt that you loosen, easier from underneath the car to see it and loosen it. One more bolt to loosen, the adjusting screw. Loosen that quite a bit to move the alternator so you can remove the belt. Then make sure the bottom bolt holding the unit in is out completely, and the unit should come out with a little work. Might need to tap on the top with a hammer lightly to loosen it. When it is out, you should be able to see how to install the new one easily, buy an alternator with a lifetime warrenty, as mine went bad a couple of times already. So three wires to disconnect. And three bolts, but only one needs to be out completely to remove the unit. . Mike

They are an unusual sizes. 4.5" diameter in the doors and if you have rear speakers, I believe they are either the same, or slightly larger like 5.25". Using spacers to move away from the window track inside the door, I was able to mount 5.5" speakers in my doors by widening the speaker hole in the wood on the back of the door panel. And using spacers along with some 2" flat brackets, I was able to mount 6.25" speakers in the back with good clearance of the moving trunk parts.

You have to deliver instant torque to the crankshaft bolt via an electric impact wrench with the proper socket attached or an air impact wrench. Keep the belts attached also helps too. But remember that once you have loosened the pulley you need to take proper care as the belts are probably under tension and that needs to be taken care of safely. Hope this helps. How do you remove the rear speakers of a 1996 Geo Prizm?
You have to remove the rear shelf, the rear speaker covers are attached to the shelf. You can see the connectors underneath from inside the trunk. Be carefull not to scratch your defroster lines in your back window when removing the shelf. You may need only pop up the front portion to access the speakers without compeletly removing the shelf. Removing the backseat if its a non LSi model might help.

1993 3.3L V6 (6-204) - Solved intermittent "Code 42 - electronic spark timing" issue by replacing Mass Air Flow sensor, after checking all wires in harness (and replacing some) between the ECM and ICM, checking all connections, and replacing all the other sensors. All work prior to replacing MAF sensor improved performance but did NOT solve intermittent Code 42 problem. Never got a "MAF sensor" Code 34.

In response to your question, I drive 30 miles one way to commute to work and also do some in town driving. I have averaged between 40 and 45 MPG. Gave the car a tune up when I first got it and have had to replace the rear brake pads. My "check engine" light has been on for months and I understand the sensor is bad. Does not affect the performance so I'll probably never replace it. However, I now have a bad dimmer switch...look out! This little puppy costs $400 at the parts store. Fortunately, I've located a one at the local junk yard for $25. I love this little car!

It has averaged 47 miles per gallon for the past year. GM and Suzuki have had a proffessional relationship for years. The two companies currently operate a shared plant that used to produce Suzuki Swifts and Geo/Chevy Metros. It now produces Suzuki Areos and Chevy Aveos. With very few exceptions the 1.3L motors found in these cars are identical. The same for the 1.0L three cylinder. As an aside, both these motors will work (with some slight modifications) in Suzuki Samurais. So when you are junk yard shopping don't pass on either car. They are virtually the same. try cleaning throttle plate and reseting code by discoecting neg battery cable.mine did same thing for monthsThe Metro and Aveo are not and were not manufactured in the same plant, and they do not share the same engine. The Aveo is made by the former Daewoo company, mostly in South Korea. The Metro was made in Canada, and previously in Japan.
The difference is significant because the Aveo's get poor mpg when compared with the 3 cylinder Metro.
