My gas guage stopped working on my 99 Passport. The problem was a part on the fuel sending unit, which is located in the gas tank. I had the fuel sending unit replaced, and the gas guage works again. - The electrical device that reads the fuel level is attached to the fuel pump. Apparently, a poor design has these things going out on a regular basis. Replacing the entire fuel pump is one way to get it working again. However, if you're cheap like me, you can remove the fuel pump and using a small screwdriver you can bend the "fork-like" prongs back onto the electrical connectors. It doesn't take much bending at all and more than likely you will not get a "perfect" reading, but at least you'll know how much is in your tank.

just take out the dip stick see how low you are with the engine running and in park, you get a narrow funnel that fits into the dipstick tube and add what you need. Automatics add at the dipstick tube, under hood, pass side rear; manual trans at the fill plug under vehicle on side of transmission.

Sometimes local police departments have a "slim-jim" that they'll use for you if you agree to not hold them responsible for damages. Otherwise, you'll need to go to a locksmith, or more accurately, have one come to you.

Typical problems related to a worn slave cylinder may include 1. Difficulty shifting in and/or out of gears. 2. Cluth pedal feels soft. 3. Clutch may stay engaged even after it is depressed. 4. The problems mentioned above are very rarely consistant 5. Since many cars use the brake master cylinder to feed hydraulic fluid to the clutch, brake pedal may also feel soft.

There is a cable for the front differential. One end goes to the front differential, one end goes to a vacuum actuator under the battery. That is what most commonly is wrong with those vehicles.

Begin by draining the water from your 1999 GMC Jimmy cooling system. Next, remove the belt from your water pump. Third, remove the water return hose. Last, remove the water pump retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new water pump.

hi I have learned this the hard way on my mini van the bleeder screw always goes up it doesnt matter what vehicle because you are trying to push the air out and the air always goes to the top i had tried bolting the calipers on upside down and found i was getting nowhere fast with the bleeding and then my boss straitened me out and explained it to me. hope it helps.

Doing one of these now for my first time. Ive done a countless amount of engine installes but this one ic giving me problems in areas where id least expect it. 1. Acessing the upper four bell housing bolts is next to impossible. 2. It appears that the front axle assembly has to be unbolted to provide oil pan clearance for removal (4X4 Only). All else seems to be routine procedure.

could two things maybe both...low fuel pressure, check at idle and under load with gauge any mechanic can check easily and fuel leak in the intake, the lines cross under the intake and cause a small hole by rubbing. take off upper intake..fairly easy..first disconnect all electrical connectors and inspect inside, if one side is clean...its a sign of leak.....also a dropping fuel pressure is an indication

I answered a similar question about fixing the flasher, so I'll pearoast a slightly modified version of it here. It will answer your question, too. By "changing the flasher", I am assuming you mean the emergency flasher switch, or the turn signal switch. In either case, it is an integrated unit, along with cruise control (if you have it) on the steering column. Fixing it, in this case, means replacing it. Your best bet is to buy a replacement from a junkyard. When I did mine, I had to buy an entire steering column and take the unit from that; the yard wouldn't sell me the signal unit alone. Even then, it only cost me $80 - a bargain. The process isn't hard, but I couldn't explain it well enough to do it justice. It boils down to basically this: 1) Disconnect the battery and remove the airbag fuse. 2) Remove the airbag from the steering wheel. (Be careful!) 3) Remove the steering wheel and drop it from it's mounting bolts. 4) Remove the plastic housing. 5) Disconnect the signal unit and mount the new one. 6) Put it back the way you found it. I PROBABLY MISSED A STEP OR TWO! Get a good manual (I use Haynes) and read it thoroughly before starting a project like this. Good luck to you! Mr. Dog

check all the fuses.

not all diffs have drain plugs, most you have to just take off the rear diff cover to drain the oil for the crown and pinion gear.

The air pump or smog pump on a 99 GMC Jimmy is located right behind the bumper, below the radiator, and on the passenger side.

It means, look at your gauges because there is one of them that has either a high or low reading. Like if water temp is to high or oil pressure is to low or alternetor reading is to high or low.So when light comes on again take a look at all gauges and see which one is incorrect.
