What does it mean when your Jeep starts jerking at or above 65 mph?

I have a 92 Jeep Cherokee that started doing the same thing. It turned out that the left front tire had lost a wheel weight and was out of balance. I put new shocks and dampner on it while I had it out of service. Best of luck. It could be a plugged fuel filter. Is it a surge type feeling back and forth like running out of gas?

What could be wrong if the dahboard gauges and radio do not work in a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee if the fuses are OK?

I had a similar problem with my 1996 JGC. Turned out to be the alternator. The radio went out and the AC, along with the dashboard guages. Get it fixed soon or it could do more damage to your electrical system.

How do you tighten the serpentine belt on a 1994 Saturn 4-door sedan?

If you've got a 4.0 litre engine than you've got a Automatic belt tensioner on the engine. Sits to the right of the alternator. If your belt is loose, than you need to check that the belt is on properly on all the pulleys, or if you have the right belt. If the belt was made for a motor with A/C and yours doesn't have that, then the belt will be to long. Check with your local auto part supply store. Hope this helps...... For info on how to route the belt, get a chiltons manuel and it will have a diagram.

Sugar in the gas tank?

First off, it is a myth that sugar will ruin an engine. Sugar will not dissolve in gasoline. It may clog the fuel filter or possibly the injectors, but it will not ruin your engine. If very little sugar was poured into the tank, then just change the filter maybe a few times and drive on. If lots of sugar was added, you may need to remove the tank and flush it out, replace the filter, and flush the fuel lines.

How do you know which fuse controls which lights?

Usually they're labeled, if they're not it would be helpful to organize a time when you tested them by turning on all the lights and switching the fuses off one at a time, checking in between to see which lights and outlets were affected by which fuse.

Where is the PCV valve located on a 1991 jeep Cherokee Laredo with a 4 L engine and fuel injection?

Many of the 4.0 motors were never equipped with a PCV, but use the smaller line at the back of the valve cover to the intake as a meter orifice. The system is called CCV, for Controlled Crankcase Ventilation. Installing a PCV will overpressurize the engine and blow gaskets and seals.

What is the transmission fluid type for a 2002 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo?

I recently replaced the filter and gasket and drained and refilled my 2002 grand cherokee's tranny fluid and used Castrol brand transmission fluid. Pretty much any type that is recommended for GM vehicles will suffice.

You will need anywhere from 2 to 4 quarts, depending on whether or not you replace the filter (highly recommended if you plan to drain the fluid and remove the pan anyway). You can get the kits at any auto parts store for under $20 usually. I also recommend getting either the Haynes or Chalmer's (sp?) manual before you do any work on the Jeep since these manuals contain a great deal of helpful info.

I hope it turns out well.

SSG Jaxx

any brand ATF+4 fluid NOT GM otherwise what the last guy said.

Dextron will cause erratic shifts and slips.

How do you set the clock on a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited?

Owner's manual.

The person who posted the above is a wise guy. We all come to the internet for answers when we cannot get them ourselves. If I had an owners manual available, that would have been my first source to set the correct time. When I find out the answer I will post it.

How do you replace a right front wheel bearing on a 1994 geo metro?

This job requires removing seven individual parts in the proper order and the use of special tools for removal and reseating of the replacement bearing and seal. It's probably not a job that should be taken on by anyone who needed to ask this question.

How do you reset or set factory alarm on a 1997 Jeep Cherokee?

Hey- I have the same question. I bought this 96 Cherokee and it has it's issues. I have no remote for the door locks and everytime I lock the doors I have to unlock the hatch before unlocking the other doors, otherwise the alarm will go off until I unlock the hatch. Now it has a new issue; twice this week the alarm has gone off. Once at 4am and the next time at 3am. It is not impossible that someone could have messed with my jeep...twice in a week...without success....but it is unlikely. However, it seemes just as unlikely that the alarm system is failing, while I am out of town and twice in a week and both at wee hours in the morning!?!? Any thoughts?? jenifre gmail.com

Can a 1988 Jeep Cherokee straight 6 5 speed transmission fit in a '86 Jeep Cherokee straight 6?

If they are manual then the '88 car would have been supplied with a Peugeot BA10/5

the '86 car a Borg-Warner T5

to be honest I'm not sure if these are interchangeable but I would have thought so since there were no major design changes as far as I know between the '86 cars and the '88 cars

If the '86 car is an auto 'box then it would have been supplied with the 3 speed Chrysler A904 I think?

I couldn't tell you if the 5 speed manual would fit in the '86 if the '86 is an auto

However I think that manual for manual should be interchangeable

By the way, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm right

Iain Thornton

On a 1987 Jeep Grand Cherokee what could cause the blinkers to stop working?

Check the Flasher, its usually located under the dashboard on the drivers side. its the thing that makes the clicking noise when you use your turn signals. Go to your local auto parts store and tell them about your blinker not working, they can help you get the correct flasher and tell you where its located. Be aware some vehicles have two of them.

If this isn't your problem, make sure all your bulbs are good, all the fuses are good and if that doesnt work call a mechanic because it could be the blinker stalk ( the thing you pull on when you use your blinker) or a wiring problem
