The program of study at the associates level (two year degree) can be noted as liberals/journalism. The degree can be noted as an associates of arts degree (AA). At the bachelors level, typically it is noted as journalism which typically is a bachelors of arts degree (BA). I must say though, how they identify the degree, is up to the college or university. Not all identify it exactly the same.

That is actually a fascinating question. Years ago, "press" referred to print (newspapers and magazines), radio and TV only. But over the past decade, we are seeing a gradual change, as more online publications have made their debut and even the traditional newspapers and magazines have developed a greater online presence. Reporters from some online publications are now invited to cover the White House along with the traditional print/radio/TV reporters, for example. So at this point, it really depends: if you are just a local blogger with a small publication, you might not get a press pass, for example, while if you are a blogger with a well-known and widely read blog, you might. A bachelor's degree in most areas can require between 120 to 128 college credits particular to a specific program of study. This would be based on a college or university that operates on a regular two semester academic year which is the most common. For institutions that operate on a tri-semester or quarter-semester it would be quite different. That being said, the Bachelor's degree - in most cases - is designed as a four year program of study, provided the student is full-time and follows their chosen program of study as prescribed by the college or university, and also provided the individual does not require prerequisite or developmental coursework as a result of basic skills testing. The minimum credit load for a full-time student is no less than 12 credits per semester. However, to complete the degree within the four years, a credit load of approximately 15 to 18 credits is recommended. For individuals who work or who have other responsibilities that would prohibit them from attending full-time, completion of the degree may take twice as long. Still, some of this time can be cut down by attending summer sessions and/or interim sessions. In addition, the bachelors and associate degrees are referred to as undergraduate degrees while the masters and doctorate degrees referred to as graduate degrees.

When John Peter Zenger, a New York newspaper publisher, was arrested and charged with seditious libel in 1735, journalists had no protection. If the king or the royal governor disliked something a newspaper published, the editor could be arrested. That almost cost Zenger his life. But the result of the trial was a ruling that a journalist could not be punished for reporting something that was the truth, even if the truth was not popular with those in power. Years later, the Zenger trial led to one of the rights in the First Amendment of the Constitution: Freedom of the Press. (By the way, back in the old days, a newspaper could not publish without a printing press, and so, the term "the press" was used to refer to what we today would call "the media.")

Every school is slightly different in their requirements. You would need to decide where you want to go and then see what their requirements are. For an Associates in any subject area there are a broad range of courses that are required: Math, Science, History, Physical Education, English, etc. Much like High School but on a college level. Then, to get your degree in a specific subject area, such as journalism, there are going to be 4-6 "required" courses such as public speaking, journalistic writing, interpersonal communications etc. Good luck!

Yes you can. However, you should have a specific goal or objective for doing so, and a road-map with a specific plan of approach. In some institutions communications is an umbrella which covers a variety of areas. For example, communications/radio- broadcasting, communications/journalism, communications/film, communications/television, etc. Personally I would focus on your primary career goal. You can always supplement your existing goals and objectives as need be. Remember to move vertically toward you goal, without distraction that can cause you to move horizontally. Moving in too many directions can cause this. Once again, focus on your primary goal.

Journal is where you put the important things in your life and when you look at it you will be taken aback in the past and remember the sad or joyful things that happened in your life and you could use it in your future.
